This is by far the most interesting look into the past of Lapland, and it should be kept as a museum.
I dont think so
I wish I could go there, and clean it up, then live there for the rest of my life. Would be so happy.
Love the 2nd floor. Another great explore! Thank you and stay safe.
Thank you so much for documenting this rare find and for leaving it like you found it! I appreciate your humor and the fact that you do not use foul language! You seem like a gentleman which is also rare indeed.
Love your comments and how you take time to show every thing:)
Wow.. still in love with this place. Thanks for sharing! Glad you are able to show us all these abandoned beauties
Awesome! I'm SO glad no one has destroyed this home...or painted all over it. I don't understand the mindset of "vandals". I hope they NEVER find it.
The Ladies cosmetics are definitely late 40's early 50's Rose water, My Grandma used that.
Whoever she was, she was quite a girl. I have much respect for her generation, Machine may have been sausage grinder to prepare meat for stuffing cases. You are right a lot of that belongs in a museum. Those old lanterns in particular VERY collectible now.
Well done Janne, Good job
You are so funny Janne! And so sweet when you exsplained what was in the purse.....lol you give me a good laf 😂 and youre videos are so good, they can How long they can bee, and longer too! You are a big wonderful Viking.....you now 😚👍
I enjoyed watching this video and part one, as well as your sense of humor. Thank you for sharing and taking your time with it!
it is your imperfection that makes you perfect.
1:12 is so funny! thank you for posting this and for not whipping the camera all over the place and for not using bad language and being real, (showing us your underwear, making mistakes, forgetting batteries, checking the windows). I'm from the US and grew up in Northern Michigan with many Finnish people so I feel a bit like I'm learning about old friends. Wish you had a curator or historian with you to explain some of the things you see, that desk with the drawers with screened bottoms was fascinating. Those were textile bobbins on top of it I think. Maybe a drying rack for herbs or vegetables? Anyway, thank you for taking the risks to film this and thanks for being respectful of other people's places and personal items. But you should probably wear gloves.
Those were textile bobbins, or wooden spools, have never seen any so old. Good eye!
I agree with this comment! I really enjoyed this video plus not having any bad language was great!
I agree with your comment. Such a nice bloke
I like how the stairway has curved steps in the beginning. It is really cool!
I really enjoyed your video. Great job and great fine.
One more thing! What you thought was a meat grinder was actually a cream separator. Why it was on the second floor, who knows? Normally it was kept in the kitchen and used daily. You would take the fresh milk from a cow or goat put it through the separator that used centrifugal force to separate the heavy cream from the good drinking milk. The cream was used for making butter or cheese. It may have been a DeLaval Cream Separator from Switzerland which was a genius invention that revolutionized dairy farming.
Sarah B. Thanks for the info 😄
Hi Janne, Wow-that house was gem, The purse was interesting perfume, lipstick ,RAZOR BLADE .I have carried many things in my purse but never a razorblade. Oh buy the way ,those wooden shoe things are
shoe stretchers, if your shoes are to tight ,so pleased to see the place untouched for a change!
Sap comes from trees. You said the trees bleed. Sap. I like your videos, very funny.
BRAVO! USA Hoosier Girl - you kept my attention & giggled non-stop. I kept looking for a grand front door. Had to watch 2nd half & now I can go get tissue for laugh tears. I found myself answering to the "that thing". Thank You for taking your time & leaving bloopers in. Made it feel I went on this adventure w you.
No, not dark woman. She knew how to sew. The razor left in the purse was exactly for that. The machine, spools and I loved the linens. She seems to have been a good woman and was once loved and admired as seen by how the home was kept for decades. Thank you Sir for sharing.
Love this house! and it's little treasures you found in every turn. Beautiful woodwork and the stoves! ❤ You have a great way of narrating! 😊
That was the coolest old house. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Hello Janne! The little house is
in good conditions and the items you was founded are priceless 👌👍👋🇺🇸😘💖
The tree that "bleeds" is a maple tree. In the spring, we would tap the trees and collect the sap to make maple syrup. We would boil the sap day and night outside, until it was a thick and deep amber color. The longer you boiled it, the thicker it became. It took a lot of sap (clear, watery and sticky) to make a little maple syrup. What wonderful memories you bring back!
I love watching you explore! Especially when you show the countryside. It is so beautiful! I live in a high desert in New Mexico, USA. Trust me. Their idea of green is much different than mine! Have a fantastic weekend!
I love the antique incubator on the second floor that he had thought it was maybe a work table .
This my favorite explore that you have done. Awesome job. Thank you.
I'm so happy to have found your channel! Your humor is perfection -- and you do it while still having a care for the people's memories and items left behind. You're just wonderful!
Hello Jaane. Cool video, neat to see all of the old items and see how similar our countries are.
That item at about 6:00 into the video, the item with the thermometer - I am nearly certain is an old incubator. I could not tell if it was an electric one or an even older oil/fuel heated version.
When I was a child my dad bought an old one at an auction that we used one year. It looked almost exactly like the one in your video. You would put chicken eggs, or turkey, duck and even goose eggs in it to hatch. The antique one my dad bought was made before electricity and it used an oil flame to warm the eggs to 98F (36.7C) temperature. It was a bit of work to keep the temperature right, plus you had to turn the eggs twice a day. Modern electric ones have automatic egg turners. If I remember correctly, we did end up hatching a few chickens with ours. I think my dad sold it at one point, but that was a long time ago.
That oval bent wood basket is beautiful. The garland of wooden spools,! The roughly carved boards on the upstairs walls! oh I love the inset Bed in the wall! All Fantastic and Wonderful.
Well , this woman was dark! You are so funny. Great place. Loved the bed. Thanks for sharing this.
If the lipstick slides up instead of twists, it's really old. I can't remember when the twist kind came out, but I remember my mother used the slide kind back in the 1950's.
Your funny, mom and I love your videos..👍😂
Thank you for this exceptionally good tour! The lady's purse was very special. (I love vintage purses!) The curtained bed was also a nice piece of history. I really enjoyed this home, though it's sad to see it abandoned like that. Seems like with some hard work, it could be liveable again. 🏚️
from the outside the house is not that big, on the inside it is big! Love the house!!!
Excellent episode Janne. I think we tend to forget how little our fathers and mothers had back in the not too distant past. They had to make do with so much less than we have and they did it without tv or autos cellphones and sometimes even basic things were hard to come by. I know I grew up with less than other kids my age but I think I turned out not too bad. Besides I learned to take care of what I did have and not waste it foolishly.
...she was a dark woman...or very shaven... 🤣
I 💕 this place and the way the sun dapples through the windows on all the old stuff looked magical.
The old house has some charm to it with all the wood construction, I can imagine myself fixing it up and living in it. Cool video, I love to explore historical places as well.
This one was my favorite !!! I love that house !!! It needs some fixing up but to keep it like it is now & not change the style !!! I loved that big wooden brown cabinet in the livingroom it is beautiful & still in good condition !!! I liked that old bike in that room in the house !!! Janne don't never feel bad about being excited about something like that special house !!! You don't babble that much & it's cute & you are entertaining !!! I always enjoy you & your videos very much !!! Take care Janne !!! ❤😊😎
So glad I found your videos. So funny
Woww! Janne, I knew this place was gonna have lots of cool treasure! 😀 Great find! ✌💖&😊 from the high desert!
15:12 forward that was a womens voice speaking when you were talking about the book on war, seems she rather liked you speeking about the history. So yes you heard it right 😁
wow what an amazing find.. its awesome . like a time capsule !! carry on exploring .. love the babble and "oops" moments. we all mess up and thats what makes your channel fab !!!! x
ohh and it looks like wooden shuttles i think on the table. its for weaving .
I was born in and raised in a home similar to that home. On a farm as well.
My favorite and peaceful memories are of that 2 story home, on the farm
72 years past. Although even now I have retired and have no concerns of
Living well, I would take my German Shepherd girl Ruth and return back to those days in a moment's
Notice. I really would.
By the by, we had no electricity until my Dad came home from WW 2.
Thank you for the great memories!
I so enjoy your videos greatly.
You´re welcome Michael :)
So awesome, such a great find!!! :)
that house was like a time capsule, fantastic episode Janne. 😊
Your videos are always interesting. Thank-you!!
Janne, thank you for documenting this historical treasure.
very nice explore Janne, it shocked me to see this home so untouched by vandals...over here in the US it is almost unheard of finding any place, abandoned or not, that hasnt been vandalized or in some other way altered.
I agree with you completely...a lot of those items should be in a museum or in someone's home. That house is really great...I love the okd houses...great video once again....😊
Good find. interesting, bring more.
Very interesting house, so much stuff left behind. Quite sad, that's someone's life! Thanks for showing such respect. 👍👍
Good video, Janne. Sap comes from trees. Different trees, different sap. Maple syrup/ Maple-tree... etc. I love that old , looks like a bathtub ! Very cool. That table you were looking at with the sliding screen drawers, looks like it had stuff to make fishing nets or weaving of some kind. Just a guess. Love the old places, I think of the ppl that lived there and the life they led... hope it was a happy place. We know they were hard working ppl. We are quite spoiled today. You are right... some of those things should be donated to museums... before they disappear. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸
Did you know that the more sugar that is in the sap the more colorful is the tree? I read that somewhere. That is why maple trees get such a brilliant orange and red color in the fall.
love your narration and your finds
Fascinating video once again, Janne! I like how you feel humbled and privileged to explore these abandoned places. Thank you for taking us along with you.
Great video. I like the way that you go over everything and try to explain the use and age of the item. The old horse harnesses make you wonder about the hard physical labor the farmers done each and every day just to survive. Thanks for another great video. Keep them coming.
Best find yet! I could easily live there, its in wonderful shape. I love all of the wood in these homes. And all of the treasures inside...perfect! Huge home.
What an incredible place. I love it all from the big wooden tub, the old bikes, books , to the lanterns and weaving table. To bad you couldn't do some hunting to find an owner or building caretaker and hook them up with a museum. That stuff needs to be preserved and displayed. Awesome Job Janne.
Lets just hope vandals don´t find this place..
Hi Janne, great videos keep up the wonderful work.
Janne Flinck - I happened on your video and found I love your personality. You are funny and so honest. My husband's grandfather was from Finland. Loved seeing how his father, who was born in 1867 and came to America in 1905, might have lived. Thanks from Texas.
I love the house and everything in it, but I must say you are a very funny man. Great video!
OMG I love how you turn the camera right on the side of your face at times so we can REALLY see the same emotion and apprehension on your face that we feel right here in our homes watching it! Enjoy these so much.
I really enjoyed the house and the history .
The Pot under the bed is a Chamber Pot.
They were nicknamed
"Thunder Mugs". (Lol)
Janne, if that's a wooden bath tub, I can just imagine all the splinters they got.
The rolling pin is a Scandinavian pin for making Lefse
The bed in the wall was kinda neat and private, but changing the bedding may have not been so easy. I also noticed they stepped up into the closet.
I watched a program last night on TV. part of it had a polar plunge and I thought of you. They raised over 38,000 dollars in it. Don't know what it was for though. Anyways, have a great week.
My comment comes very late, as I just discovered your channel.
I must say, I love these videos that you make. You are thoughtful, you move slowly and examine everything that you see. You continuously adjust your lighting, and I personally appreciate that very much! All other channels that I have watched, do not care to adjust their lighting or exposure level during their videos and the glare and bright parts of their videos are unwatchable. Also, you are fun!
Thank you!
"Let's look at the books!" "Here's King crack or something..." lol!!!!! Love this video! You found a lot of neat things! The walking sound might be the invisible homeowner.....eeeee! Sorry I haven't been around, busy doing the same as I was two weeks ago.....He is doing good just needs that help.... Nice to see your face today Janne!
;D
The machine on the second floor was an egg incubator for hatching chickens.
I found it interesting that all the noises and talking occurred when you were talking about the unknown soldier. Maybe there is some relevance. This was a truly great find. I hope the vandals never find it! Thanks Janne!
That house has a fantastic rustic feel to it! Interesting books too!
museum would love to have those newpaper from past
The tree's blood that runs out is called Sap..... I loved that house or should I say "home" I noticed it was all hand cut timber, so well built, now wonder it was still standing strong. ... Thank you Janne.
You always do I good job for us ! I always laugh when I see you try to get into places that I think--This man is NEVER gonna fit in through there -- lol :D
I loved this house. It told a good bit about the older lady who lived there.
1. I want to adopt the foot pedal sewing machine.
2. The home made item was a garland made from empty sewing thread wooden spools.
3. That red couch was way over stuffed to sit on.
4. I loved to watch a tall Finnish man climb though a small window opening and later go through a little old ladies purse. 😁
nice find. Another great adventure.
Here I am watching the part of the 2nd that I left early on. I see the house is much, much older than expected. The boards forming the inside walss are hand planed. can't tell if they were split out or pit sawed or circular sawed. Hand planing is evident in room partitions and too a lesser extent on the floor boards. I am sure you are pleased to find this gem of the fields!
I was, i would like to go again, but im afraid if vandals have been there.
You should never say sorry for things you don t do just show you are a lovely human being love you videos kind regards Helen in Tasmanian
The piece of wooden box with net shelves that pulled out on legs, is I believe a chicken hatchery, very old, my grandfather had one, in Ontario Canada, really enjoy your videos.
Love this one ! All the stuff... The yarn ( balls ) and the lipstick...I remember my Mother using some like that...So maybe that dated back to the 40's or 50's . Probably the razor blade in her purse was for protection, from an aggressive advances of a man...The sounds are *Creep factor 10 * WOW the room with clothes hanging around....Yes, Ire member phone books ! lol , back then I remember my old phone number... DA9-3403... lol OH the lanterns ! lovely, hope you got photos...
Just came across your videos, love them, I am watching from zephyrhills Florida USA.
You were not alone!
This was a awesome find! Those rooms are really big. So many cool things to see. And you took your time to show us everything! And kept me laughing at times! 💜😁
LOVE LONG VIDEOS ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE AWESOME THINGS LIKE THIS
I really appreciate your videos, Janne. I've learned things about your country, and see some differences and many similarities. I like how well you speak English, as I would not understand Finnish at all. Lastly, you and I both like trees, and I noticed you have many birch trees, which I like a lot. Thanks again for what you do!
So enjoy your videos. 😁
WoW! Considering how old that big house is, it's in really good condition with loads of really old historical antique things.. The lil' wooden things for the sewing threads are called spools.(Those are collector's items, because they are made out of plastic these days.) Maybe, one of the best places, so far.. Super Find, Janne. c:
Awesome find. I am surprised that nothing was vandalized, place in good shape. Good exploration there.
Thanks Janne great your and history lesson.
Cool Video My Brother :) Thank You and Hello and Good Day
Hiya loved your video thank you for sharing :) I always learn something when watching your videos :) xx
The wooden "shoes" are actually frames for making shoes. They would stretch leather over it and nail it into form.
Thanks! :)
Mariah Johnson ...Cobblers. lmao.
Called a "last"
nice find.. thanks for history...
.
I wish i was able to visit Finland and other parts of Europe.. But My boat has sailed on that one.. Your videos are always a joy to watch and keeps me looking for the next to arrive.. Drive carefully , stay safe and cautious when exploring..
Great video. Lovely old house. The "thing that tree bleeds" is called "sap" in English. :)
It is very sticky and sometimes sweet, depending on the tree and the time of year. Americans and Canadians like to boil the tree sap down into a Maple Syrup and put it on waffles and pancakes and sweet breakfast foods.
I love your videos and your English is very good. Keep on Urbexing! :)
Hello again, hello----Another good video! You are very interesting to listen to and you are so into looking at stuff and explaining about them---I love it. I went into an abandoned house not long ago, and a HUGE bird flew at me (from inside) it ran me off, that's for sure. Yes, I screamed. Anyhow----keep up the good work and watch out for huge birds in abandoned houses. lollol Love your videos lots----Kristin
There have been birds flying inside of these places, scaring me ;)
Your a funny lad. Lol thanks for making this a great trip!
Loved this adventure! The wooden spools from thread are really old. I have collected a few. I think who lived there were pretty Crafty ( as we say] It appears they sewed, and worked with yarn and even made there own shovel, The house was in very nice condition for the age of the things inside. The lady may have been a nurse from the picture? They did have nurse hats on. Great place! Thanks for sharing.. watch out for the ladies hand bags! a razor she was prepared lol.
great find !!
Interesting place with nice stuff there thnx.
I really enjoy your videos.
What a great find and well built. The roof is not leaking and causing decay.
An awesome find. Lots of stuff that you could fill about two days just looking! I did find it funny when you could remember the pot under the bed was for "a dump", but couldn't remember that when a tree "bleeds", it's called sap. hehe Keep the vids coming!
