- It's been a few weeks but I'm digging out more of my San Diego Comic Con swag. Today it's the Hasbro Star Wars: The Last Jedi Black Series Luke Skywalker and Rey. They are cool but I kind of wish I had waited.

Why can't they EVER get Mark Hamill's face right, five different figures and none of them look like him.
Like I said, he's got one of those faces.
With all due respect, I actually personally feel this new Jedi master Luke head sculpt might be the best resemblance! He is my favorite Luke along with pilot Luke. Of the two farm lukes I actually think the first one and one from 40th anniversary looks best. The profile and the way the neck looks is more accurate. Great videos as always!!

Yeah his normal face does for sure but still, it looks great. The smiling face is a bit goofy haha, but I feel that Farmboy SHF Luke has the best likeness. Jedi Luke is good but I'm not a huge fan of the secondary hair/face.

Also I realized that the blade doesn't come out of the saber. It's either molded inside or glued in and that disappoints me about the accessory.
Those strings are supposed to tie the cape around Luke's neck, it fails.

1. That does look like just an accidental bit of paint on her forehead, but in the new movie she actually has a minor scar on her forehead, so maybe you can pretend that's what that is haha
2. She continues to carry that blaster because it's the one that Han gave to her. You know, sentimental reasons. Makes sense to me.

I'll pass on this Rey and get the Resistance one next spring but if they release this Luke with the green saber, I'll pick it up as I never bought the Jedi Knight Luke. It doesn't look like the environmental base exclusive Luke has the saber but he does have an extra robot hand.
If it's possible, maybe you could slide in a piece of wire in the collar of the robe so you can bend it around luke more naturally? Just a thought. It might hide in all that stitching. Great review as usual!

My two problems. Not enough accessories for a SDCC exclusive. And the fact that Hasbro waited until now to give Rey her pistol considering that the original Rey had the trigger finger hand. Hasbro: Maker of beautiful plastic. Master of confusing us.

Hey Robo, to remove the scuff on Rey's head just use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I tell you they work wonders removing scuffs and excess paint without ruining the other paint.
I've used those before and agree, they work great. It's been a while since I've had one. Here, and I haven't checked for sure, but the torso is skintone over a darker color, I guess I automatically thought the head was the same way.
Watching your videos has become kinda ritual like you know when you do something a certain way for so long and it doesn't feel the same when it's not done that way. That's your videos to me. Like I have to watch a review or weekly of yours everyime I Wash Dishes or eat dinner lol.

the eyes on rey at least are painted looking forward, i think thats my biggest pet peeve for some paint apps. but i can still see the slight droop of the left eye but it isnt that bad.

I look at the new ML Loki figure's face, and then I look these and it just doesn't make sense. Hasbro should've gotten their shit together and launched the last Jedi figures with the new face tech.

I found out a cool idea with the jedi training rey figure that looks really cool man,you take the jyn erso hood wrap accessory and put it on the rey it look rad like it works really well and looks awesome!
Haha, damn it man, I took the Jyn hood and cut the actual hood part off to give the Marvel Legends Jessica Jones a scarf. But I bet Rey with a hood looks pretty awesome.

I've seen the string thing for the cape on a lord of the rings armored Boromir figure.. If Luke's cloak is the same way, the strings are supposed to be loops that can go around the figure's shoulders to hold it on him.. I think your strings are broke!
I think Luke taught Rey to dress as a nod to her debut outfit. It would be cool if he gave his lightsaber to his nephew then once Ben turned to the dark side he threw it away or packed it up. By the way when is Force Friday 2?

How do you organize all of your hands and blasters and heads? Bags in drawers? I hope you are using that plastic that doesn't cause yellowing if so. I forgot what its called but it will help your accessories last longer.
I am thinking that the single release figure of Luke will have more accessories.
I'm hoping so, like maybe spoilerish accessories? But, they omitted Rey's lightsaber from her packaging until after the movie released. I guess we'll see.
A Whisper In The Hallways I've seen pictures of some of the figures in box(red and black force Friday) and Luke comes with nothing except his robe
Was thinking of picking these up for force friday but they revealed retailer exclusive deluxe editions for Luke, Rey, and Kylo coming Oct. 1 with soft goods, more paint apps, different face sculpts, display bases, and die cast accessories. They look more worth holding out for imo.

Great review brother!!! It's a shame about the eye but overall they are both great figures. I can't wait to find them and to see the movie. Only problem is now periodically I keep hearing Luke say over and over again, Hmm Yes To Old, To Old To Complete The Training LOL.

Excellent review as usual the best in the game. I am just sort of amazed that the photo realism hasn't been a staple for the Black Series since they have tauted these toys as the premium line. Seeing that the Marvel toys made by the same company have been using this technology for a while or am I wrong? You know better than me.
For a little while but not too long. Star Wars and Marvel Legends uses different factories, it took a while for one to catch up to the other.

It's pretty much just soaking the cloth down, putting it where you want it to lay, and then letting it dry. It may take a while to fully dry but once it does it usually stays kind of the the position you leave it.

When is Rey being released with the new face mapping tech? Is it the crait TRUs exclusive? All those, Luke and Kylo included say "Premium Character Detail" on the packaging, Kylo has his scar and Rey actually looks like daisy, is that the new tech? It comes out in a month or so.
No the new face tech isn't until next year, or at least that's what we were told.
Gotcha, I wonder what the premium details mean on these environment base store exclusives.

Yesterday, I got my first Black Series and my first cloth action figure. To be more precise, the Leia one in ANH and I can't stand the hood because it doesn't stays in place. If you could help me with this, I would be eternally grateful.

It's just getting the cloth damp and then putting it on the figure how you want it. Makes sure the hod is pushed down, folds in the robe how you want them, etc. Then you just let it dry. Leia is a different material that I haven't tried yet but others like Jedi robes and the Emperor's robe works great.

I saw the Ep.VII face print technology Rey and OMG it looks like I'm waiting for that! Star Wars is weird for me. Transformers I think bout every single day, get really excited about new shows, toylines, figures, and especially the movies! STAR WARS I get JUST as excited for the movies and the movie figures but I can go days without even thinking about Star Wars. Strange how that is. Star Wars is in my blood tho. 1st movie I ever saw was Empire. 1981 I believe 4 yrs old.

I personaly do like Jedi Master Luke, but the only gripe I have about this figure is the lack of a lightsaber. Also, why not reuse the green one he had from ROTJ? Anyway.
But Rey's figure looks more beautiful than the actress who plays Rey :D They did the same thing with Jyn Erso. :D :P

Hasbro and facial expressions... It's like none of their employees have ever seen anyone angry or laugh or smile before.
That Luke is sadly destined to become a pegwarmer. The lack of lightsaber diminishes his appeal in a big way. And since we know he's going to wear another costume (a darker one), perhaps some people will prefer to wait for that figure. Well, let's hope he will use his lightsaber in the movie!

The only reason why I buy certain Black Series figures is because there are some figures I want... but Bandai don't make the model kits for them...☹☹☹ if they did... I wouldn't buy any of the Black Series figures due to things like Rey's eyes... it kind of makes her look like shes had a stroke or something...
