At this moment in time, I am so glad to be a criminology student and a criminologist. We are being educated in ways that have never before been done. As a new wave of educated individuals in the CJS are being trained and produced I am excited to see how our CJ policies and practices continue to change, especially related to race and juveniles. The media is a HUGE issue :(
You should only be excited if the changes actually work. If the changes end up in the largest increase in homicide rates in USA history for example that is shouldnât be time for excitement
out of all the topics you think this would be the worst but it's really calm

@@ibraheimahmed9332 The definition of profiling is making assumptions about someone based on their looks. That's exactly what Nick Vernice was doing.
That's not to say that it's not common, though. I do it all the time, and I'm sure everyone does it subconciously.
No one chooses their skin color no one chooses their parents itâs like a lottery so their really shouldnât be a bias against anyone. People need to be judged by how they act.
Poisonflame but people do choose to be cops

Nice work guys
The officer in the red is all we need right now and I am happy that she actually wants to be better and do better for the people, she is a true officer.
I love seeing someone who signed on to the force for the right reasons.
Thereâs plenty of officers like her and itâs not fair that because of officers like Derek Chauvin theyâre working towards defunding the police and donât realize that it also affects officers like her and not to mention the many who signed up to be a cop to avoid getting into trouble in their hoods
Brokenname Lmaoaoaoao I still believe we should defund the police though
Alexsis romain what will defunding the police do? I donât understand why defunding the police will protect us, when thatâs why they are funded.
We need more of the Mexican and white guy too. They arenât focused on race theyâre focused on their job unlike her
The fact that the female officer identified the fault in the phrase "all lives matter" made me seriously happy. Her explanation was spot on.
Checking your speed and using your signals does something everyone does when a cops behind them lol
FINALY some civil discorse omg we need more today next time you decide to interrupt or yell you get it any side just be calm and ask questions find common grounds!
That female officer was SPOT ON when she said that officers are given DISCRETION!!!!!! If an officer has bias or prejudice, even just a little bit, he/she needs deescalation training. Like she said, they're human. You never know for sure if any given officer has a bias against a certain group of people, so deescalation training is a must, just in case.
statistically black officers are more likely to shoot a black suspect than a white officer....âŠâŠ...does the black cops need "de-escalation training"?
Statistically white cops are less likely to shoot black suspects than black cops.
#and black cops are less likely to shoot white suspects than white cops.
This kinda does show that people show MORE restraint than they normally would(when dealing with someone of a different race).

Do stay at home moms/ traditional moms versus working moms
Rachele Smith What would that discussion be? Great that you made this choice, oh thank you also great you chose that... I don't see what common ground they should be reaching for...
Rachele Smith wtf for? Talk about the upcoming royal wedding? SMH.
I think it's a good topic because they can discuss the role and pressures of women in society. You can bring men in this conversation and make it a traditional family vs. nontraditional family thing if they want to be more inclusive. They can talk about what they feel a woman should do or where her place is, what they think about traditional families, and whether a woman should work/stay at home. It'll obviously tap into some religious arguments but still. It seems odd but there are a good number of women that believe women should stay at home or vice versa. I wanna see a hardcore soccer mom talk to a corporate working women and see how that plays out.
+Rachele Smith Better would be feminists vs. stay at home moms or housewives...The feminists really like to bash and treat traditional women pretty badly. Feminists like to call stay at home moms and housewives "not real women" because of their choices. It would be interesting to see that play out in real life rather than on the Internet.
Oh for the love of guacomole. SOME feminist will say that :) not all
Having movements, which in the world now thereâs multiple (not just BLM)
But I feel it separates them and just causes a divide more than there was before.
I love all of them honestly
The blonde police officer is just. Beautiful. Her respect and responses were beautiful. Just great
@Noah Busk She brought up a fantastic point that police officers have to sometimes use their own discretion, which requires officers to have feelings
Iâm from England, so no guns here, probably get smacked with a baton, but Iâd rather have an officer with emotions who can understand my innocence than a ruthless emotionless officer whoâs ready to 1v1 on rust irl
@@wolfboy219 Justice should never be judged appon with feelings. Why? Because our feelings are wrong. Our emotions arent perfect and we dont feel the correct feeling 100% of the time. And, feelings varry from person to person - therefore, hypothetically, if the same exact crime were to be reviewed by multiple individuals, the punishment would be different from person to person, making the justice system flawed.
TL:DR: For as long as crime is judged with human emotion, the justice system will be flawed.
@@theordinary1059 if an officer knows a person then they are more likely to reason with them. The first step in any encounter is to first reason with the people. Someone who has no feelings will go straight to shooting.
you can tell that the female officer is one of those good cops. wish there were more like her
Brazen Kismet âgood cops donât exist, all cops are badâ apparently
@@hazelbates6236 That's because the law allows cops to not abide by the law. When a cop commits a crime on a black man when is he punished? If you'd like examples look at "Spending a day with survivors of police brutality"

There are lots of cops like her
Grim Wills I wish they were louder about supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and taking the time to educate themselves, recognize their privilege, and call out bad cops like she has explained in this video!
Brazen Kismet they attempt to but then you get the morons saying ACAB and being a cop automatically saying they are racist which means their voices are being silenced

I got very upset when that guy said "I really just want my law enforcers to learn about law" that's like a doctor only learning about medicine and not ethics or bedside manner. That's a world without context. That's a cold world.
Jordan Guillory how is that wrong that is literally their job. To enforce the law hence the name law enforcement
@@thcdro I said why i felt it was wrong in my comment
@@thcdro Well, I think the issue is that the law doesn't tell them whether or not the tall boy on the playground is a criminal or a child playing. The law doesn't tell an officer that a black man reading on the side of the road is not a horrible criminal about to commit a crime who deserves to be shot. The law doesn't tell an officer that he cannot tackle a boy with no arms and legs because he's mouthy.
These are the problems that need to be addressed. Officers need community training. They need de-escalation training. They could also use Krav Maga training (nonlethal disarmement). Because sometimes the person is innocent and they may have killed someone by mistake or malice.
@Arctic Donkey When a man shot police and was killed by police, no one protested. When a twelve-year-old on the playground got shot and killed by police, people protested.
Police need training because sometimes innocent people are getting hurt. I'm not saying all police are malicious. I am saying that there is something wrong when something like that can happen and people still justify it. Again, this is not about coming against police. I personally know some officers.
Sometimes I stop officers just to thank them for their service because it's a hard job. But none of that negates the fact that one innocent being shot and killed by the ones who are supposed to be protecting them is one too many. Further, the sadder part is, it's more than one.
