TROUBLE ON THE ROAD Heading North - Putting on the Miles.

- n this episode, we’re making our way to the Grand Tetons, but like we always say, “it’s all about the journey, not the destination”. And this cross-country ride keeps us on our toes for sure.
We’re constantly in search of dispersed camping options - light on the pocketbook and usually not as crowded as campgrounds, but sometimes winging it works well and sometimes - well sometimes it doesn’t.

We are just catching up from the crazy at Sturgis. We’ll be back with everyone tomorrow afternoon. Cheers and Thanks for watching.
As always thanks for the videos and can’t wait to meet again.
The USA is such a large beautiful / interesting/ open country. Thanks for bringing it alive in such colour. IVAN (UK)
Seasoned pro’s. Take what the road throws at you and laugh. You are my heroes!!!
Thanks Mary
Just beautiful! I love 550, never get tired of it. 749 miles and pulling a trailer no less! You guys are not just bike owners, you are bike RIDERS! Thanks for the ride!
Thanks Clay.
When my wife and I set up our tent trailer in campsites we would always attract a crowd. People were amazed that you could have such a thing on a motorcycle.
YES. So true.
I tow a microlite TR7 twist and am forced to hold a press conference at every gas station. When you try to cover 749 miles in a day it can sometimes turn a 13 hour ride into a 16 hour ride. People love the idea of glamping.
I know it.
's not all fun and games out there. Making these videos, but d*** you are living your best life ...Hell yeah..Be safe 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I love you two I'm 67 and I wanted to travel like you two I will God willing be safe on your journey
I really enjoyed your video. My wife and I have been riding over 40 years and have seen most of the eastern half on the country on two wheels. Milwaukee is the farthest we have ridden from South Carolina. I have always wanted to do what you are doing and ride the western part of the country. Now that we are older and not in the best shape, that dream has pretty much gone. We just traded in our two wheel Heritage for a new Tri Glide as of this past May 2021. We used to have a trailer for camping and did most of our camping in the Blue Ridge mountains. Life goes by so quickly. You guy's are living the dream. Jan and Jerry. Irmo, South Carolina.
I just found your channel.. and subscribed! I so wish my wife would ride with me, and get to see this beautiful country. I live vicariously through your videos, and continue to be a solo rider in my own part of the country. Thank you.. safe travels!
Awesome. Welcome aboard. Glad you are with us.
Last resort is to unhook the trailer and roll it forward to reach the air pump
Great idea. glad we had Chris's BMW c
Well you certainly covered some beautiful country. Rich hasn't been killed in a massive electrical fire YET! Looks like you're having a great time. Thanks for sharing.
so Far no electrical fire 🤣🤣
Wow guys thanks for posting live in South Florida my cousin and I had luxury being in Silverton ouray many years ago fantastic riding old 700 miles in one day is a good ride don't care what you are riding
Our pleasure!
Here's another air compressor tip: Make sure it works before you leave. I hadn't used mine in two years and the piston ring dried out. When I tried to use the pump, it let air out of the tire! And yes, the wire on the new pump was not long enough. I spiced in another foot of wire from the old pump.
Yes check your stuff Great tip.
I’m going back and trying to watch and “like” your past episodes that I’ve missed hoping it helps with the CZcams channel. Hoping a penny here, a penny there, will all add up. I like your work on Two Wheels Big Life and I hope you can still find time to do more vlogging.
Thanks a bunch
Thanks guys. Great job. Enjoyed the ride. God bless. Happy trails.
Glad you enjoyed it
Ah, the many two wheeled memories from my 50s traveling the roads you followed. Thanks for the great trip once again on the rides you share. Outstanding!
Glad you enjoyed it
Haven't been on the tube in awhile glad you guys popped up
Thanks Ron.
749 miles? That's loco. That's like so many miles!!! I dont know how you can ride that much! Liked the video . Wish I were camping.
That was max for chris.
I think a good name for your new BMW is George!
George is a good friendly, reliable name.
3 years ago this week we went over the million dollar highway and got 1/2 inch of snow going over the pass. 90 degrees at grand Junction just before going over the pass. You never can guess the weather when in the Rockies. safe journeys
Wow. Thanks for share Nitro
It can get crazy in the Rocky Mountains
The one thing I have learned on the road is if you push it farther one day than is comfortable you pay for it the next day. Especially on a multi-day trip. I have years ago put as much as 900 miles in a day but it was going home and didn't have to set up a camp when I got home. To me it is amazing the difference between southern Idaho and northern Idaho. Rode up to Salmon ID years ago to visit friends beautiful ride. Another great ride is 212 over Bear tooth Pass to Belle Fourche WY. Great video and excellent vibe.
Those throttle assist paddle are a life saver! Especially in slow traffic when you can't use the cruize control!
RIP beautiful Gabby Petito! ❤️
They sell single wheel motorcycle trailers. Just incase you don't have enough room on the BMW
Yes they do. But we’ll end the warranty on the BMW if we do that. But hey maybe
Fantabulous! Brought back memories of my last ride there. Unfortunately, I have now developed cabin fever as a result of this video.
Thanks for the upload and taking time to make good edits!!!
Thanks Willa I hope we cross paths some time. Cheers
Still sporting the HWK jacket. I have two now, a black and a white. They are great.
Chris loves that HWK
@@TwoWheelsBigLife I may try the pants.
You two are so much fun..
Thanks Sara.
You two are tougher than boot leather, my best day was 630 miles. The route you took from Alb. Was the same one we did on our way home from Yellowstone. Great video stay safe keep the shiny side up
We don’t go that far too often.
If you happen to be traveling by yourself with a trailer and can't quite reach with the air compressor to the trailer tires, just turn a corner towards that side, the trailer tires become a bit closer to the power plug and it should reach in your situation.
Think of it as a triangle, the sharper angle while keeping the 2 sides the same length makes the 3rd side shorter.
Great tip. Glad we had Chris’s bike.
Or get something like this portable battery powered pump. Really simple and quick. It will do a couple of motorcycle tyres and so should easily top up a trailer tyre. Some also act as battery packs if you're desperate for power. I have a cycplus A3 I carry.
czcams.com/video/-ippDtmC8cc/video.html
What a crazy time for you on the road. I am glad that none of your problems were serious. I am sooo ready to go back out and explore more. Now that I have gotten my first big trip under my belt. I know more of what I can and can't do...should have and really didn't need to have... The big lesson though is staying home is now just an option instead of my destination.. Thank you again for all of your personal encouragement to me and for your informative and fun videos about what life on the road has to offer.
My son and I have done some really long days and our limit is 500 miles per day max on our liter bikes. With my new '75 sidecar it might become 250 miles per day. Also Cramp-busters are great but I've learned to to use them in traffic or in town. Every so often I seem to hit the Cramp-buster with my palm when I don't want to.
Agreed. You can easily whiskey throttle if not paying attention
Just stumbled over your channel, very cool, boon docking on motorcycles! Alas, to be young again, at 88, do not qualify. After many years on two wheels, now on the Canam Spyder. Carry on, tuned in.
Thanks Bill. Cheers.
Dear people, huge respect for the riding you both do, is the unbeleavable experience ,persistente and humbelness chapeau, so many people all over the world my self from including from Holland are looking in respect and great joy, and i hope that shoei, bayerische motoren werke ag, harley will do that to and...........! Again respect and good luck on your Journey stay safe and healthy. Tony from the Netherlands
Missed you folks in Great Falls. Wishing you all the best.
Excellent video this week. 12 mins to set up, very good, and what a comfy bunkhouse it is!
We have air mattresses now she even more comfortable
Tennis elbow, bursitis, carpentry 40 plus yrs so I have had it routinely. Yes can be very painfull,so do not let it flare up real bad before, Rest,ice,ibuprofin/tylenol mix works. Compression sleeve 's from wrist to just above elbow is your friend. Take care of it. Ladies nylon's cut down or the tube part of socks can work as compression sleeve in a pinch. Beautiful videoography guys. Great tips from experienced bikers. Thanks, keeper going on down the road.
Man I was a whipped pup after 400 Miles,I would of had to catch up the next day !😁
Thank you, great job
Thank You
A tip-o-the-hat to you guys. Y'all do a great job of getting the beautiful scenery on camera as you ride. Thank you for taking me places I will never get to go. B safe out there.
Our pleasure!
Lol. Blue on Black. Great tune. 😁
It’s just so awesome that y’all are getting to do this as a couple. I’d give anything to find a riding partner to do this with.
you got that right. my wife's idea of roughing it, is the winnebago at the state park, 30 minutes from home.
Thank You I am a Lucky man. Chris is awesome
Riding in the rain.... I can relate. In 2016, I was on my way from Atlanta to Peoria, Il. A few miles outside of Paducah it began to rain. At first it was a summer thunderstorm down pour. That lasted for about a half hour. Then steady rain, off and on till I got about ten miles south of Springfield, Il. Then from there till I rode nearly all the way to Peoria, it POURED DOWN. My rain suit kept me dry, for a while. Probably until the vents couldn't keep the deluge back. Riding at interstate speed in a downpour for 80 miles, there's probably only so much a suit can do. Plus there was quite a lot of standing water on I-155, truck traffic spray, you name it. My waterproof boots had gotten some water down in them also. The temperature outside had dropped down into the upper 70's, and as you know, the wind chill factor starts to be felt. By the time I reached destination, sisters house, I was chilled to the bone. I was just wet enough to be cold, but not soaked. Nothing that a few snorts couldn't fix.
You all were moving right along. Wow...I tired just thinking of driving a car that far. Beautiful country, though. You did good. Blessings
Thanks Betty Jo
As always, love your adventures. I was out there a few weeks ago, but I’m living it again…vicariously. Thanks Chris and Rich.

The Tetons are just so Beautiful 😍...loved the flowers!
Thanks Patricia
Loved it guys. My wife and I were in durango 3 weeks ago we checked into the oasis campground set up our bunkhouse, we also tow it with an electraglide std. Next morning I woke up with the flue. I spent the next 5 days in bed then we rode 1200 miles home. So other first we headed for cannon Beach or for a family reunion, on the 3rd I went to a clinic and was diagnosed with covid so on the 8th we made it back home and been trying to recover since.
Bummer. How you get better soon.
You two are awesome!
I love the Teton mountains, such a beautiful area! Great video thanks for sharing my friends!
Another very good Vid you guys. Beautiful scenery and good tips and hints. I can hardly believe the miles you guys can do in a day. That's like border line brutal but my hats off to you. Stay safe out there. Thanks

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Loved the adventure.. things always happen! But if not it’s just travel sometimes. Keep it up. I’m looking forward to the rally in Montana!
Good to see you guys still out there! You look good, the road agrees with both of you.
Thanks Steve
You guys are great! So much happier having met you in Great Falls. Ride well.
Awesome and Thank You. Cheers.
Great video, thank you for taking the time to make it. Chris use caution when going slow with the cramp buster, sometimes your hand hits it when not meaning to.
You Guys are great. So Adventurous. I Love your videos and stories of where You have been. I've only been on ONE cross country trip of about 1,000 miles and I loved it. I'm hooked, and want to do more. You guys really inspire Me. :-)
Awesome. just Do It. Its not the easiest but you won't regret the memories
Great video - thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
wife and rode from wa. st. to Jackson Wyoming. we stayed there to travel around Yellowstone. not realizing how far apart they were. we stayed till dark, riding back to Jackson it was one dark ride. we rode in the south entrance out the east entrance in the north entrance out the west entrance. back home over a two week period.
Wow. Was Yellowstone crowded. It was when we’re there
@@TwoWheelsBigLife before covid, and September when school had started. place was wide open 😎🙂
Super nice camping sights I just love the landscape ! Great show !! Hi from Canada .
Thanks Erik
Yup, for those long hot rides you need lots of fuids & stops I learned the hard way..😉😉
I long distance tour a lot all season. I completely agree on your tips. I just toured through Colorado last weekend. Beautiful riding.
Thanks Charles
The view of the Tetons is just breathtaking. This vlog went by too fast!! Stay safe out there. See you next Sunday
The Tetons are beautiful
Awesome video enjoyed every minute. Keep up the fantastic editing
Thank You We appreciate that. Cheers
Loving it! Keep it coming.
thank You we will do our best.
Love your content! Keep up the great work!
Thanks Mike. Thanks for watching
You guys produce such great videos and stories.
Thanks so much!
Packing your things in a heavy duty garbage bags inside your duffles (that may not be waterproof) works great in case you need a dry bag in a pinch.
Yes great Tip. we use one now.
Another great and beautiful video!
Thank you! Cheers!
Our summer has been full of forest fires in British Columbia I live in Alberta so we get the smoke from both BC and Montana. It’s pretty much been none stop for 3 months, pretty much wasted summer for us in Alberta. Still the US border is closed to Canadians but open to Americans 🤷♂️🤷♂️ not sure how that is working but doesn’t look like I’m going to get my Montana/Idaho bike trip this year which sucks been 2 years now 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
That’s a bummer. There are fires everywhere this year.
Thanks for the ride. Very interesting! I'd like to see a vest patch that says "I pushed mine"!
I haven't done that yet
Thank you great video. Sitting here in the UK I envy the space you have to roam in your great country. Just traded my GS for a Pan America and already missing that Boxer engine. Stay safe out there.
The PA has similar HP I rode one in Sturgis
Love the time lapse, and you even thought about editing the audio on it. Great video, ride safe..
If you ever make it back to the Uintah Basin, be sure to let me know. Vernal is ranked as one of the best small towns to visit for good reason!
Enjoyed
👍👍✌️
Better than Netflix.
That’s awesome. Thanks.
Great video and outstanding music selection. Of course the best host and hostess on CZcams!
thanks Mark
14A...Spearfish to Deadwood....Gorgeous Ride.
Great job as always I'm camping in Iowa and it's beautiful
Have not been through Iowa yet
Love your videos and especially New Mexico - interesting NM compound in ABQ that you keep coming back to - tell me more about it- we Love that area.. Have ridden motorcycles for years, but now at 74 just bought a Suzuki Burgman 650 scoot - wanted a scooter since I was 14, waited 60 years for it. Thanks, Mark
That place is no longer. It was some friends that had an in-laws quarters we could use for cheap.
Kool good job, lots of miles,👌👍 hello from high country
Thanks Ervin. Cheers
Chris, like you I get bad elbow pain after a long day riding. I started with the rocker that you showed. I hope it works for you. I had to go further. I added Grip puppies to my GS. That was a cheap $12 Amazon buy. It helps, but I also bit the bullet and bought a true throttle lock so I could take my hand off the grip for a while. Those two items made a big improvement. Add a proactive dose of Aleve and I’m good to go for a Saddle Sore 1000.
In the mountains she cant use cruise control and following Ms. Alice up and down hills
I was in Silverton last month, beautiful scenery!
Silverton is great
Pretty place to camp.
thanks Johnny
You can use the wrist rest at all speeds. The cruise control only when safe. I've got 2 beemers with cruise control but have wrist rests on both. Body parts wear out and you need to help them occasionally. 👍👍🏍🏍🙋♂️
yep. In the mountains she cant use cruise control and following Ms. Aluce up and down hills
I envy you guys. You are an awesome couple.
understand the temp changes.. I was in West Yellowstone last Sunday and it was 70/80's. Woke up Monday morning and it was 39.
So true. Temps can switch quickly
That ride up or down 550 is not for the faint of heart. Sure is a beautiful ride though.
hi Guys, bigger bag eh, looks to me that Chris is packing more stuff. LOL
We just moved some stuff to her bike makes it easier to pack the trailer
Wow.... I know Antlers, OK! My Dad grew up in Antlers and I loved the small town feel. You might have gone through there going to Moyers?
Yes I believe we did.
I live in Vernal and wish I could have met you guys! Dang!
Maybe next time.
