  • Our road trip from the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming to the Great River Road in Minnesota continues as we ride from Deadwood, SD to a dispersed camping site just 6 miles south of Wall, SD on Highway 240 and spent the night. Dispersed camping can be found in the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands, which is adjacent to the Badlands National Park area.
It was time to stop at the iconic Wall Drug in Wall, SD - population 818 plus the 2 million visitors who make the pilgrimage there every year. And to think that it all started in 1938 with the promise of free ice water - wait what?

I do enjoy your videos even as I am a bit disappointed that you skipped Pipestone, MN. All native tribes made the pilgrimage to Pipestone to harvest the soft red stone for making ceremonial pipes. Even today you will find Native families working their quarries.
My Lady enjoyed Sioux Falls, South Dakota's Falls Park and the Palisades camp ground on one of our first long trips for her. Another trip from my home in Schleswig, IA took us to Pipestone and Redwood Falls before turning south to the Iowa great lakes; Okoboji ( east and west lake) and Big an Little Spirit Lakes on the states northern border. Food for thought folks on your next trip through the area, maybe before seeing the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota.
Thank You again, you all are in my prayers

Great point, that those little dashes between the dates on the grave stones are what really count. Everyone's achievements, from the great to the least of us, will all be reduced one day, to a little dash on a stone. The only part of us that lives on in this world, are the memories in the hearts of those we connected with while we were here. We should all strive to make those dashes mean somthing good.

Personally I think the Blackhills and surrounding area is some of the most interesting country in the US. It does typically get pretty hot and windy during the summer but makes up for it in the winter when it's really windy and freezing. When in northern MN you forgot to mention the state bird (mosquito ) Oh ya we have wood ticks too. Another great video

I was a Junior in high school when I lived in Wall, SD. Like I said before, I worked at Wall Drug store. (I did my license driving tests, both car and bike there.) I did the serpentine on my bike driving on a parking lot at the bank next door to Wall Drug.
One day I was working in Wall Drug and I'd seen many cattle prods and I couldn't believe two D cell batteries could make cows jump so bad. I picked up a short one... (Just 17 yrs old) and I stuck the prod end in one hand and pushed the button with my other hand. I gave a little scream as it spun me around and the cattle prod flew through the air going a couple aisles over. As I looked around, I saw old lady Hustead standing there watching me. I sheepishly said, "Excuse me", and started to walk away. As I was leaving I could see her cracking up and laughing at me so hard. I've never disbelieve those cattle prods because I learned first hand why the make even huge bulls jump and move to get away.
My Dad and I used to go to old city parks and schools to try metal detecting. One day we had just found some old coins below a slide.
The kids were watching us and asked what we were doing. We told them we were looking for old things people had lost playing there. One id asked if we'd found anything and my Dad said yes... He showed them an old quarter we'd found... and without missing a beat... the little kid said it was his and it had fallen out of his pocket when he went down the slide.
    We laughed so hard...
Later, before we left that park... Dad asked them where most town folks would hangout most. He immediately replied... "Over there by the bar". Dad and I laughed so good as they knew instantly where town people hung out.
The kid was only six or seven yrs old.
Town kids had their snowmobiles and all I had was my (1971) 175 Yamaha Enduro and I rode it year round regardless of the weather.

We all are as young as we feel, you two were feeling pretty young on the slide. The swings always bring back childhood memories for me. Love your videos, stay safe out there.

Crossing either of the Dakotas is miles and miles - of miles and miles. Some of us find it interesting; others don’t.
Having grown up in Michigan where trees make a half mile line of sight common, and a full mile sight range uncommon, the “far seeing lands” fascinate me.

70 years ago, “Wall Drug Store” signs were pasted around Michigan. Near the Burma Shave signs.

Watch out on those midwest (Nebraska) gravel roads after rain , they can be so slick, like ice. Clay under gravel, fell down twice in 2 miles doing 15-25mph. We went by the Mineral Springs hotel ,didn't stop...always next time. Love your videos! Chris do your knees ever get stiff from riding??

Another great video guys. Been a subscriber for quite a while now. I’ve been riding street bikes since 77’ and whole heartily agree “Get out and live”. I feel more alive on two wheels than anything else as I’m sure you do too. Always look forward to your next adventure.

Great tour of S. Dakota. You made me laugh right at the end singing the spam song. Brings back 50 year old memories of coming home from the Cumberland’s Head pub with my mates to watch Monty 🐍. 👍

Good video. I've traveled South Dakota extensively in my 30 trips to the Sturgis rally. But you have shown a few things I have not seen. My wife and I both ride and we enjoy your videos. We have gone back and are watching them in order from the beginning. Interesting how you have evolved.
