Sure just get the tax payers to buy them, pile 'em up right there on the sidewalks next to the tents and be sure to leave room for all the piles of shit and dope needles next to them.
Another of people aren't homeless because they choose to be. And just because they don't have a roof doesn't mean they are dirty or nasty.
@@glynnisthomas9165 Exactly. This just gives an illusion of a temporary fix. Rehab if needed and placement in a secured and supervised REAL apartment or a managed care facility is better for the tenant and everyone else in the long run.

Yep....The Reefer containers are awesome! I lived in a 45 foot converted reefer container in Alaska for two years.....It was easy to heat, quiet, even in 80 MPH winds, strong and bear proof.....ALL AROUND EXCELLENT.

You heard right....Shipping containers must be periodically surveyed for fitness to be used in ocean shipping. Containers that may be unsuitable, for many reasons, can be repurposed. These are for sale at container yards near major shipping terminals.
Just for the fun of it, check into what people are doing with containers....There is a lot of creative work happening to make these attractive next door neighbors.
@@bobsullivan5714 I saw some awesome ones on the property Brothers and a design contest show a few years ago. I'm sure that There are far less expensive versions that are still as nice and less expensive than some of the tiny home kits are.

@jorno haha Don't you think that they would already have done that if they could? Many shelters are far over capacity and have to turn people away.
Sometimes even families with kids that have been evicted or lost their homes to disasters.
They aren't equipped with medics or security staff to deal with the growing surge of people afflicted by severe mental health or drug issues.
Perfect lol homes for homeless and hurricane . Not forever homes but just enough to have a roof over the head for a moment in life......❤

Bo Staph-Maverix, you've taken the time to make a lengthy comment so I believe it warrants a response. Fortunately, you are misinformed on every turn. The original test panels and shelters have been subjected to extreme environments for over ten years with no degradation, warping, sag, cracking, or loss of color. Furthermore, there is no offensive odor or mold. The shelters and campers are in use from the frigid Bering Sea to the hot and humid climates of India to the deserts of the Southwest. The plastic used is not "toxic" to people or animals. If you believe that, I would suggest you not drink milk from the jugs you buy at the supermarket. This particular video was made almost ten years ago. If you would bother to go to the playlist at the end, you would find that the shelter and the camper version have been improved and modified over the years. Unfortunately, they are not currently in production but should return in the not too distant future. If they made thicker, hollow wall versions, with interlocking tubing, once assembled, it could be squirt injected with foamcrete to make it a hard structure, or closed cell foam insulation for heavy winter weather. A nice comfy pad, and so easy to construct. Love its practical simplicity and appearance. I was thinking the roof could be a transparent dome made of maybe perspex so you can see the sky above. The sun would heat up the inside. Then maybe for fresh air - a window incorporated to open a shut. Also anadditional feature of blinds to close out light and to keep cool if required. :-)

i want a tent that keep me warm rain or snowing. the one i don't have to worry i well get cold in the winter and relax when its raining. love this one so far its portable and it looks very comfortable mini shelter it fits perfect.
Firstly, greetings and best wishes from Scotland. Some pretty odd and frankly ill educated comments below. This modular system is quite ingenious. In a world of increasing natural disasters not to mention homelessness etc, this system has a great potential. Have no idea why this appeared in my you tube feed, however I clicked........and I wish you the best with the product.

Depending on cost and maintenance this would be fantastic for the massive homeless problem in the US. The wealthiest country in the world shouldn't have a homeless problem.

Have you seen the big old homes they sell for 200$ in Italy? If you could get a small home industry to survive on, You could fix it up ,Live in one part and rent out a room to a retired person or run a tourist air bnb for extra income.
In either China or Japan the use a massive 3d printer to produce homes the size of a chateau that can be made and assembled in a week, which also uses a percentage of material from re-cycled buildings.

I'll say it again: slightly modified design, and packed with a FoamCrete kit. Assemble units, hook up hoses to feed slots in the walls, fill with foam create concrete foam. Allow to dry, and you have a lightweight extremely strong, and stable solid permanent building. If you do solid pre-prep work on a real foundation, hookups etc, it's a 'real' building. I would recommend making them taller, 12' tall walls, to make them feel larger inside.
They could assemble hundreds of these on abandoned lots and do away with tent cities. At least it would look better.
These are pretty cool. Could help the homeless vets that sleep on the streets. Have a small community of them with central showers and bathrooms.

I watched about 30 seconds of this and already found that you need to get rid of the screws and design some type of cam-lock system to put the panels together. The roof needs to be solid, not fabric.

Is plenty of space & easy to heat if insulation is laid 4 feet out starting at the walls. Constant temperature line wicks up. You can heat it further with candles or incandescent bulbs.
Agreed. You could buy a decent old second hand mobile home for just a couple thousand with enough left to rent a lot space, or buy a small distressed property fix it up a bit and turn the utilities on.

@@TheAutomanDan Maybe where you are, I am in Canada and they are double that fore sale prices, but for a plastic shell you have to put together and I am assuming probably sweats with condensation this would not be my first choice. The construction is kind of cool, but not putting it together and taking it down every camping trip

These would make perfect homes for the homeless and they could put them all in a community of these shelters together so that way they are all neighbors and it would help give the homeless pride that they have a home and help them with socialization and help the homeless get along with one another and help as well clean up garbage and debris left by the homeless on the streets that everyone keeps complaining about

Do you really think homeless people will start keeping their trash inside where they're sleeping and eating? I don't think so. poor ventilation and limited space. They will start acquiring housewares and clothing, equipment for a more comfortable life. Trash will still be outside, where neighbors can see and smell it.
First thing the homeless will do is start a fire inside to keep warm and find a box to put in the corner to shit in. Helping the homeless is a complex problem do to mental illness and the fact that they don’t view facilities as the average person does ie: privacy to do your business and sanitation. Fire or heat from a bar b que in a confined flammable space. This could be a stepping stone for those that qualify, with a separate community shower pod and toilets in the area of the shelter. I would say men’s room and ladies room but I think our society would deem that discriminatory and the civil liberty lawsuits would fly.
@@3sam7 I was homeless for 22 years and never made a mess of the places that I stayed in! Most homeless people are not mental or drug addicts or alcoholics. The main reason for homelessness is simply the ultra high cost of accomodation these days. I know lots of people with homes who have to work two jobs just to be able to pay their rent and live comfortably.

Why couldn't the govts supply these close to city's & towns for homeless people! The govt can buy up land where ever they want it! plus this would keep city streets a lot cleaner from homeless peoples blankets etc. I love it a brilliant little shelter for lots of reasons.

Dawn Leary No honey, a silver spoon in my mouth is far from it. I’m from East Los Angeles, come here and visit me, I grew up here. Wealthy I am not. I’m fortunate I do work, I also support my 88yr old grandma. You still think putting people in a polyethylene box is fine, it’s not ok. It is undignified, and you can do better. You still didn’t address whether you were going to donate one. My church is St Alphonsus Catholic Church over on Atlantic Blvd here in East L.A, look it up, it’s a beautiful church and while we cannot have mass now, we still do our best to collect and donate food and time to give to our local homeless. There are 2 shelters that we help with. We also do help provide clothes to them, blankets sure but not so much, as weather is normally moderate all year in Los Angeles. Selfish, I am not, God knows I’m not. You just need to aim higher than a plastic box sweetie. Take care. God Bless.

I am just a pensioner, I couldn't afford one let alone 50, but if I could, I would. Here in Australia in my State there are 150,000 homeless people on any given night & that is only 1 State! Im sure there would be more in your neck of the woods, & no i dont go to any Church but i have done my bit for charity, & at times the homeless. The city i live in, i have bought $40.00 worth of breakfast ( MacDonald's) & taken it to homeless people in the park, i also have worked for the Salvation Army. I live in a nice home that I rent, but if I was homeless, I would definitely appreciate being told i could sleep safe & warm in one of these portables! So plastic or not! small or not! I would be so very grateful? Even if someone bought one & gave it to me, & there was land I could sit it on, & go back each night to sleep, stay warm & my bedding stayed dry, I would be thankful.There should be no homeless people, & if it wasn't for greedy Govts there wouldn't be.

Actually seems pretty cool to me! Don't know of many structures that size that have the portability, and go up that quickly. A base model for $7500 doesn't seem that bad to me. Add your own accents and accessories. Be nice to see these back in production!

Needs a waterproof/rot-proof, portable floor and a way to anchor the shelter to the ground so it will not blow away in a strong wind. The lack of insulation means this is a mild weather shelter. Needs screened windows for cross ventilation in warm climates and to keep out mosquitos and other flying pests.

Not a storm shelter with that kind of cheap roof and no floor to it either. Fun for camping maybe? Put plastic roof on it and then bury with earth then it could possibly be used for an emergency storm shelter or for maybe with other modifications could be turned into a root cellar? But if kept like this the only thing it's going to protect you from is getting rained on. I've got an umbrella for that and it costs much less.

I'm kind of worried to see if I can take a direct hit from a tornado with all the debris flying around a hundred miles an hour understanding could probably be safe and some situations but can't handle a direct hit from a tornado that would kind of word me via in a thing like that

The French built a folding camper trailer with hard sidewalls called the Esterel (spelling?) decades ago. That same fold-up-walls design would work quite well for a very light, low-profile trailer or a roof-mounted/roof-transported shelter.
I've an offroad mini-camper that is great for solo (and couple) trips, but I'd like to include others in hard-walled sleeping accommodations, without breaking the budget.
Seems like you could make a pretty roomy 6x10 shelter that anybody with a pickup or an SUV, station wagon (rare, these days), or crossover could carry on the roof.
