- Would you do something simple for ten minutes before shooting your bow if you knew it would give you an advantage? Most archers refuse to warm up before shooting archery despite the benefits of more performance and injury prevention.... Don't be a typical archer and Warm-Up before you shoot every day!

This is a great workout for seniors, to help with their mobility, and balance.
You are right about people not warming up….
The game or Darts it the opposite, they practise and warm up but never use a coach, and this is at PDC level.
I take my hat off to you and your wife for addressing this can of worms, Breaking down the barriers. 🏹👍
Thank you! I started archeryclass in september and there is no warm up. I did not understand this, as any sport does warm-ups. I will start to warm up myself, before class. Great exercises, thanks.
i'm gona work on doing this as a warm up tomorrow before my archery training , this feels good to watch
I never thought about warming up for Archery. Thank you for doing this video.
10/10! Well done!
Thank you Jake.
Thank you Jake kaminski it's lot helpful to me
Jake..I can't thank you enough for all your awesome vids. Being following since your very first one. Great warm up routine.
i really appreciate your video and tips. thanks :D
I think a lot of archers don't warm or not much because we don't know it's important and don't know what to do,
and so this helps that you are showing this , thankyou
I hope that’s true, glad to help if so!
Super handy Tips! Thanks from Switzerland
Thanks very much for this Jake. Not many people seem to warm up at our club - most that do are people who have previously injured themselves. I'll be adding these to my routine.
Great video as ever Jake! I have a background in sport and exercise science, as well as personal and gym based training. Yet even with the need to rehab my right shoulder, then I often, probably due to time pressures fail to warm-up sufficiently, or simply just go to the shooting line. After watching the video, I'll definitely be making fully warming-up a 100% goal. I'm off to the indoor range later, and have added a black Theracord to my archery kit bag!!
Thank you. I shared this with my son, who shoots in the NASP format and is going to be helping his former middle school coach with his archers this year. I think this will be really beneficial for him.
Muchas gracias Jake por compartir toda tu experiencia y conocimientos. Cuando pueda intentaré adquirir tus libros, seguro hay excelente información. Saludos desde Argentina!!
Jake, This is the First time I have seen anyone in the archery arena discuss Warming up so thoroughly. I like that you used simple equipment. Excellent!
Thank you for this routine. I've been shooting for years and never seen or heard of any kind of warming up prior to shooting. I was always under the impression that the first couple of rounds WERE the warm up. I'll be at my new range tomorrow and I am eager to do this routine prior to our shoot time.
Mi Jake,
in 6 weeks will start the indoor championship and it's time to prepare seriously (even outside)
so, thank you for your perfect timing and those advices, because archery is a very demanding sport
so, let's practice it seriously to avoid unnecessary injuries !
Great video. I stretch just a little bit but now knowing what to do and why is fantastic.
I’m glad to help! I hope this gives some people an idea as to what to do before shooting.
Thank you.✌️I (31) think the same way. You showed me 1-2 more warmup. In my archery club I am the online adult who is warming up 10-15min. before puting an arrow on the bow. We teach it our teens and childs, but the most adult forget that in archery depents so much from preparing yourself and your machine to work in the very best way. 😊
Going to put this into service at my next comp on Sunday.
Makes perfect sense, even at gym we warmed up before lifting any weight. I got to be honest i rarely worm up, i mostly shoot in evening so i kinda already feel warmed up, but yer I'm fooling myself. As a bigginer i guess this would be a good habit to get into. I have all the stretch bands from working out at home, and a 12kg kettle bell. So I've really no excuse not to even do variations of this. I'm 52 and yep morning time is the worst, especially my lower back. And I've not been putting in the work lately with my bow, uk weather. I'm hoping this month joining the club I've wanted to and get down to it. But I've saved this for reference. Thanks jake.
I know about 3 of these but I'm definitely adding the rest. I've learned the hard way before about not warming up. I think I serve as a horrible warning to others of what not to do 🤣
Danke!
Thanks for the super thanks!
I wouldn't wish shooting like the last arrow of the day before on my greatest enemies, lol.
Good luck with hurricane Idalia. Tips for shooting in the rain?
This last tournament killed. They gave us almost an hour break between the two rounds. My arm turned into cement. I need to look at your book to see about cool down.
I bought the book and have quickly identified my weakness (besides strength) which is the flexibility that the arrow tube steps describe. Thanks Jake for publishing this!
Well. Approaching the topics you mentioned in the video
In my case: i used not to stretch or warm up because i shoot in an open range with natural light, and i shoot after work, so i try to use all the light i can. But then i started to warmup religiously at least 5-10 minutes before shooting
Also approaching the topic of the injuries, most common in my range is in the rotator cuffs. Does this warmup/stretches are enough to prevent this injury?
i always warm up, and yes it felt like it take half of a round to warm up thats half the match gone already. but i worry if i do this much warm up that'd be my shooting energy gone down at least 20%
Look at PRO Golfers warm up before they play the round, so WHY NOT Bowers DO the same, I always wondered why... ;). Good Tip from Mr. Kaminski...
As options would even doing a few press ups work as that's working the shoulders to? I'm thinking of variations of doing this, just to spice it up abit. A couple look very pacific too archery so i gues those ill do, but could i get away with how i would of warmed up at gym, and put the ones that are imitation of using a bow into that?
Great video, as always, thanks.
Anyway, archers do not warm up because lazy.
Usually i takes me 5 to 6 shots to get the blood flowing in my shouldwrs so i don't do any kind of warming up. Maybe some shoulder shrugs but thats it. What i am wondering is why is ther less focus on warming up the legs. Shot a match last weekend and after 72 arrows my lower legs (calfs i think??) were kinda sore with some muscle cramps. What do you do to prevent lower leg issues?
I’ve always warmed up at home before I head to the range(10-15 minute drive). Am I defeating the purpose by not doing my warm up immediately before shooting?
How long before a competition starts, do you think you should warm up? A lot of times I'll warm up and then have about 10-15 min rest before the competition starts. but I see a lot of other people warming up and finishing right before it starts. What are your thoughts?
How to get your book
How long does a warm up last? Can I do this at home, then drive to the range , 20 minutes away?
Some benefits will last quite a while, 20 mins is too long to benefit from the warmup fully in my opinion. I’d be sure to shoot within 10 mins ideally.
However, anything is far better than nothing!
Could we get this in writen form
It’s in a book I wrote with my wife called Training for Archery.
@@JakeKaminskiArchery so you can’t just make of list of these things
I am available for personal coaching to do so if you’d like to hire me to write you a list 👍
@@JakeKaminskiArchery alright
write your own list on paper lmao thats what i did
Found out today, can’t do pass overs 😂😂
Me.. 20-60 shots to warm up 😭😭😭
Do this, not anymore…
I can’t tell if you realize this but your wife doesn’t like archery.
…standing still for hours on end and doing non athletic things isn’t for everyone.
@@JakeKaminskiArchery 😬
Thank you Jake.
