Even at its mild form or lower percentages it can cause sun sensitivity leading a UV damage, birth defects and is not to be used without a doctors advise when pregnant, planning to concieve or breastfeeding. Hi Rubina, I suffered skin burns after using AHA BHA peel from minimalist. It probably happened because I had started using Retin A and my skin was still adjusting to it. It took around 2 months for the burn scars to fade away but I am too scared to use it now. I still am using Retin A at night and vit C in the morning, no other actives. Your videos have been very helpful in understanding all the components and what all my skin needs. Thanks a ton to you 😊

    • @RubinaSkincare
      @RubinaSkincare  Před 2 lety +6

      good action to sstop the exfoliation.
      wait till your skin is completely adjusted to retin a - give it the time it needs- 3 or 5 months. then introduce exfoliation but only if there is no redness, dryness, swelling or peeling on the skin.
      slow always win because any irritation leads to pigmentation.
      I am so glad that the content is helpful :) i put in the effort to create education type videos cause I believe knowing how to use a product and how to create good effective and healthy skincare is very, very important in the long run.
      Thank you for your note Sunayana.

      @@somamandal212 I did not experience any skin darkening, however my skin took almost a year to adjust completely to Retin A. I use sunscreen without a miss. As my skin is very sensitive, my dermatologist prescribed Retin A micro o.o4% gel. I have been using it for the past 8 months and in my experience this was much gentle on my skin with amazing results. Also, if you are experiencing extreme dryness and peeling then adding hyaluronic acid to your routine will be a good idea.

    @Rubina Hi, I'm a new subscriber to your channel and have been binge-watching your playlist.
    In your retinol series one of the unpopular products you mentioned (Captain Thug Retinol serum) seems quite promising ingredient-wise. Would you recommend it over the Minimalist Granactive Retinoid for someone of 28yrs with normal skin and some hyperpigmentation?

    • @RubinaSkincare
      @RubinaSkincare  Před 3 lety

      Glad you are finding the content useful Belormi :)
      Good question: Thug has a retinol while Minimalist has HPR which, as per current data, is fairly close to the top retinoid Tretinoic acid without the irritation or retinization process. So if you are looking for a mild retinoid effect pick thug and if you are going for a more serious retinoid then minimalist.

    Thanks a lot Rubina for such a good content.
    Started this routine (evening- retinoid one) this week with some tweaks in products.
    1-Vitamin c is from Claire's
    2- hyaluronic acid from hyalugel
    3-azelaic acid from the derma co
    4- bioderma's atoderm intensive baume as moisturizer .
    5-Lacto calamine sunscreen
    It's been 2 days, i see improvement near eye bags and nasal T area(less open pores).
    Anything you feel isn't right to combine?
    Issue with current routine is that face became lil dull. Is it a part of process ? will it improve with time?
    I used to use clairs vit c (am) and dr Reddy's vitamin a ( pm) combined with hyalugel and bioderma's moisturizer.
    Age 30, normal skin. No acne but melanin around mouth and nasal area. Intense dark circles. Plz suggest.

      So pH is a contested topic. The derms i talk to say pH is skins problem! which means our skins job is to adjust pH to keep the skin acidic. I would say dont worry about it...just make sure you use vitc first as its the most acidic...

    Hi, you used Nicynamide before Alpha aurbutin, but on ph scale, AA < Niacinamide. Also, you suggested to use HA in between Vit C and Niacinamide, which has very different ph level compared to C and Niacinamide from minimalist. Many blogs suggest to use products in ph increasing order. So, what to follow ?

    • @RubinaSkincare
      @RubinaSkincare  Před 2 lety

      well....vitc has lowest ph so that goes first. after whayever serum that has closest ph n so on.
      i though DONT STRESS ABOUT PH! our skin adjusts it within a few mins....;)

    I use their Niacinamide 10% daily , mostly in the AM. Yet to grab the vit C, waiting for my February haul. But then, wanted to ask, is Niacinamide daily too much? Why is it said once a week in the video? A little confused.
    Also, is the SA 2% from them too only to be used once a week? I found it's pH is not as acidic, it's around 5. I have been using it almost every night for 1.5 months now and feel it is extremely mild and not drying to my skin. (it's sometimes combination and other times, oily, and tends to get dry around Tzone). Had mild purging but it is decongesting my clogged pores and slowly helping me. I also use their Niacinamide 10%, Alpha Arbutin + HA and moisturiser.

    • @RubinaSkincare
      @RubinaSkincare  Před 3 lety +1

      Thats a typo! niacinamide everyday.
      In my opinion SA everyday is a bit too much exfoliation for skin that is healing.You are also getting slight exfoliation from retinoid and to some degree from vitc too.

      @@RubinaSkincare thank you for the quick response. I have not stepped into retinoids yet. Planning to bring in Vit C first. Great to know that Vit C and niacinamide can be layered in one routine. Going to cut down on SA. When I have new pimples (hormonal acne), I switch to Niacinamide 10% overnight instead of SA, found that and rosehip oil brought down the inflammation more than SA did. Thanks again. 😊

    Hey, I'm a new subscriber. Loving the review, which product would you specifically suggest for very old and scars as they won't just fade else I have pretty good skin

    • @RubinaSkincare
      @RubinaSkincare  Před 3 lety

      Good question. Old scars are harder cause the skin surface has altered due to repair...exfoliatin and retinoids do lighten the scars depending on how the skin responds and heals..its a long drawn process though and will take a year or more. There are some pretty advanced procedures for scars with cosmetologists so you could pursue those as well as they put collagen production and skin repair on high drive therefore improving recovery time.
      Thank you for being a part of this journey Kashish :)

    • @RubinaSkincare
      @RubinaSkincare  Před 3 lety

      good question. the website shares that it can be used with the routine am pm as a serum. I feel that is too much exfoliation expecially given there is also the retinoid. A very oily skin can take it with some practice but combination skin and dry skin would rather do it once a week.
