  • This is probably the Clive James episode from 21 September 1991.
The BBC don't repeat these programmes and many of them aren't online, which is a shame.

Blind Date got a complete make-over in the 1990s and was rebranded as "Perfect Match" but what ruined the show was a fake robot called "Dexter" which gave compatibility ratings for the contestants and the supposed match partner.

Wow, I must have watched all of these back in the day, and his excellent New Year's Eve shows. Yes, looks rather dated now (I'm sure if this were on now, he'd be showing viral videos rather than TV ads) but it's a great reminder of those long-gone pre-internet days.

John B Not surprising it looks a bit dated since it's from 1991, but I'd say it actually looks slightly less dated than I would have expected.

The host of Blind Date, Greg Evans, is still around. He still does television and radio. He works as a marriage celebrant. Those children on Blind Date. The little girl who wiped her hand on her dress after shaking the boy's hand. Hilarious.
Imelda Marcos. What did happen to the billions looted from the Philippines treasury? Some aid workers spoke at my church. They told of how across Asia, economic growth has helped to raise living standards and lift many out of poverty. This hasn't happened in the Philippines. One reason is because of the corruption going on.

I do like him, I really do. But the canned laughter is just too much. I wonder why I didn't hear this 25 years ago.

It isn't canned. There's a live studio audience clearly visible in the opening shots.

love his show,so funny that marcos interview, that line trotted out by all lazy corrupt types.... ''a developing country'', how many centuries will it take you to develop do you think? i mean in the west they seemed to have moved out of living in tin sheds,do you think you might develop your country anytime soon?
