In case anyone is reading this: Mel is swell and alive and well at 97 years and counting...
I felt my heart twang a little bit. 😑
Melvin James Brooks | alive, and well
(né Kaminsky | born June 28, 1926)
Wow! Ninety seven. That’s pretty good! I hope he lives ‘til at least 100. Long live Mel Brooks‼️ You can tell he’s from the Brooklyn, N.Y. area. It’s in the voice and the mannerisms. I’m from N.Y. too, Lucille Ball birth area. He’s really funny! I love how he acted out what he was telling here 😂🤣🥰‼️
Sending love to Mel
but Johnny long gone. Still hard to believe. I miss all of this so much...
You have to love his energy and enthusiasm. Brooks never mails it in. And Johnny knew when to zip it and let the guest shine.
Like Mel said, Johnny would listen to his guests and pay attention not just hear them speaking.
LOL I could listen to Mel tell stories for days and never get tired of them
That Cary Grant story was great! Always loved Cary Grant. Great actor!
Mel Brooks is one of my all-time favorite guests 😂
Two National Treasures: Johnny Carson & Mel Brooks
Soooo much talent. You can tell he enjoyed making people laugh 😂. Thank you, Mel Brooks. 😊🤗
Still alive at 97
It must be Great To Be The King!
Gotta Love Mel Brooks. Keep living man
Johnny. I so miss his humor. Grateful to have had the chance to watch his show growing up. So many belly laughs
Unfortunately, I missed it all. I was alive, but only 18 when he went off the year. I had other interests. Luckily, I’m able to watch today.
Two legends who are part of the greatest generation of American humor and comedy!
Johnny Carson listens. Johnny Carson is the best! 😊 Thank you Johnny Carson. We miss you!
Mel is such a talent. Glad he's still with us.
Fabulously funny--"mayonnaise on white" LOLOLOLOL!
How likeable is this guy? You get the feeling he is just as down to earth in person with everyone.
Hope for the Best. Expect the worst. Life is a play. We're unrehearsed. ~ Mel Brooks
The art of the storyteller.
Mel Brooks' story about Cary Grant always makes me laugh.
Mel Brooks always brings down the house!
Gosh I miss Johnny
I love this.
As a kid, my great grandmother wouldn't allow Johnny on her TV set (she thought he was vulgar). But she went to bed early. So whenever I would visit, I would ask to sleep on the Davenport (you gotta be old to know what that is). I had to keep the volume down, but unbeknownst to my wonderful Irish great gran, I would allow Johnny in the house. I miss them both.
do you still have that Davenport? I inherited my grandmother's Chesterfield and Devonshire.
One of the greatest generation too. Mel Brooks was in a forward unit in the army in Germany WWII that took terrible casualties.
Johnny Carson was very generous with all his guests. He had no problem showing respect, particularly if he felt an artist needed an extra laugh to motivate that person.
Thank you for posting these vids! These are absolute pearls of show business. Fantastic!!
8:45 ~ Mel's Cary Grant tale 😊
Recently viewed Young Frankenstein after decades. When the creature snaps his fingers twice and belts out Puttin in the Ritz. I completely lose my S***!
Just watched it yesterday and loved the outrageous duo. Last week-end Silverstreak and before that Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder. Mel Brooks and Richard Pryor...say no more.
2024 and does anyone miss the Johnny Carson show? I remember staying up to watch who was going to be on and if there were good guests I paid the price the next morning getting up for school. So tired .....but genuinely entertained and going to sleep with a smile on my face. Life felt better. Rarely see that anymore with most of the talk shows these days. As Mel said Johnny genuinely listened to his guests and gave them space so they could be entertaining and he was a master at drawing things out from them. It was like you were an invited dinner guest at a private celebrity party and got to hear all these inside stories. So good to see these clips to remind me how good the show was at its finest moments. Reminds me how mediocre television is these days for the most part. Woke Corporate propaganda trying to pass as entertainment.
That was GREAT!
Mel had a long and great career. Even outlives Johnny Carson by a heavy margin. 100 years are coming
2 great entertainers. Carson had a great show, loved Brooks’ movies.
Mel may not do many talk shows then or now. But he is still just as hilarious today as when he did this show with Johnny. A genuine National Treasure!
This was funny as hell!!!!!
Brilliant!
Love you, Mel!🎉
As a kid in 60s ,I especially loved Get Smart . The 'cone of silence ' , and one episode with a Japanese Chaos agent with hooks for hands called the 'CLAW ' . Max says, " ,So ... I finally meet the infamous Claw ... Yes , I am the Craw ... Yes, Mr. Craw ... NOT Craw , CRAAAW !! ... That's what I said , Mr . Craw ... NO , NOOOO !!! NOT Craw ! CRAAAAAAAW !!! " Went on and on . 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got notification of this video and thought did Mel die. Fucking hell!
Ditto. Immediately went and checked.

Incredible to see him receding and grey on this interview and to know hes still going at 97 now !
Mel Brooks in the Army story is hilarious!
That’s how you tell a story
My parents had a 331/3 comedy album in the 60s that featured Mel Broooks as the 2000 year old man.
Hahahaha , the punch line
I like Mel’s shoes in this episode.
Shoes make the man.
It's true what Mel said about Johnny: He listened, unlike other talk show hosts.
The Tonight show eas and still is the best late show ever!!!!
❤glad to hear that
two legends togheter..
Mel Brooks is literally one guy I've looked up to my whole life.
Mel was so right about Johnny. He actually paid attention to his guest. Not like so many of them today, too busy worrying about the next bit. One of the many things that made him the best.
Fantastic!! Thank you. I hadn't seen this visit before. I absolutely adore Mel Books, the genius.
mel esta vivo aun tiene 97 años ..hoy subi un video sobre 20 actores q tienen mas de 90 años y siguen vivos en 2024.
I find it very weird that Johnny was on from 1962 to 1992 and those 30 years took forever to go by. He's been off the air now for 32 years, and that just doesn't seem possible.
What's your favorite type of candy?
Mel: "Buick"
Carygrant: "Rolls Royce"
Ck out great interview of Mel with Jiminy Glick
Thank you.
Those were good times
Great stuff
He could tell a story about tying his shoe and make it interesting
That one early pic looks like Mel shoulda been doing an impression of Perry Como, instead of Tony Bennett. He looked like Perry Como in that pic.
The funniest thing about Mel is not his jokes but his look. He is one funny lookin guy.
8:45 Johnny should have said "I wasn't listening."
👍. True. 😄
mel has looked 90 years old for the last 40 years
"Occupation?"
"Stand up philosopher!"
"Oh! A bullshit arrist"
"Did ya bullshit last week?"
"No"
"Did ya try to bullshit last week?"
"Yes"
"Sign here"
I miss the tonight show. Late night tv died after that
Still kicking.
I remember those curtains I saw Mel Brooks and his wife was back stage Miss Anne Bancroft! They gave me a young wipper snapper of 16 an autograph. I still have so many autographs . The only person that brushed me aside was Andy Williams . Everyone else was so kind.
Wow! Andy Williams? Surprising.
Judy Judy Judy
When I hear that I think of Cary Grant and then Andy Griffith's Goober imitating Cary Grant...
JudyJudyJudy
The great Mel Brooks should have run for the office of the President of the US ! Much better than all the jokers there past and present and at least there would be a smile on the faces of the folks . A trick well and truly missed !
Lmao Jummy Kimmel leads the Late Night talk shows with 1.2 m viewers! J😅johnny got 55 m!😂😂😂
I'm not in. LOLLLLL.
😩🤓🥺 Blazing saddles is the best 😤🤬🧐
Dammit, Dead Johnny. Don't scare us like that again! (Mel is still alive!)
Read his memoir!
Mell is so funny
Indubitably Mel
😂
What was in Ed’s cup I wonder😁
What’s with the apostrophe? Mel “Brook’s”🙄
THAT was the punch line?!?
Oh, man, terrible!
Hard boiled egg diet.
And to think his son wrote WORLD WAR Z. The book is a heluva lot better than the movie, Brad Pitt's not in the book.
Thanks y’all- nowadays we got ohohbiden and the humor in politics that is democrat reality of criminals & deception
Ha! Now I've got a version of an O'Reilly auto parts ad in my head 🤣
not as good as Rodney Dangerfield, at least as a comedian
