    Sorry for my inflection on chorale! I have never said or heard that word in my life (I am not musically-inclined) and said it the way I say it in my head. Not TOO wrong, but I can feel people’s irritation already 😂

      😀 it is an unusual word... you have to love the oddities of words and how two similar words can be said so differently and mean two totally different things.

  • @Willothemask

    • @Willothemask
      @Willothemask Před 5 měsíci +5

      @@kazudv1071 Yep! The guy at the end wanted his house to look super big and fancy, so they used fake perspective to make the house at the end seem bigger and the road seem longer. It's a real life optical illusion that's subtle enough to get away with it.
      Wells is home to the Bishop of Bath and Wells, and so the whole place has multiple fancy constructs and buildings built with the wealth of two Bishop dioceses.
      Wells Cathedral also has a giang gothic X in the middle of the nave cuz it needed support after subsidence, and the result looks super cool and honestly super modern, even though it was added in the Middle Ages

    • @deeayenn
      @deeayenn Před 5 měsíci +3

      I think what makes it fascinating is that they're terraced houses with the chimneys on the front wall, rather than shared via the adjoining wall, with back to back fireplaces.
      So instead of the chimney exiting via the ridge of the roof, which are ten a penny, they extend from the lowest part of the roof line.
      Due to the stacks needing the hight with which to create 'draw force' for the fires, it produces an aesthetic which, firstly, is not often seen, and secondly, is absolutely gorgeous to observe, especially with the architectural design.

Apparently the "Krauts" wanted to INconvenience their American colonial enemies.

    There’s a reason Great Britain got its name and it doesn’t take much to look at a history book or take a walk and find that out, it’s a shame this day and age it’s common to just talk your country down as though it’s all bad and all evil and never did anything good and we should all just let others take over because we aren’t good but as we see that’s clearly not the case when parts of brains in aren’t that great anymore and we know why

This street is beautiful, but i wish we had a city where most houses are like this, similar to prague. Old European houses, are so charming with their own national and cultural twists.

    Brings back many happy memories of visiting there as a child and youngster with my parents
    Loved the cathedral and surrounding areas, they had such a calmness and gentleness, especially inside the cathedral.
    The author Elizabeth Goudge was resident in this area as her father was in charge of the cathedral. Makes it special to me as her novel "Linnets and Valarians" was the first book I was given instead of an Easter egg by my dad and I literally devoured it, still have the very tatty, disreputable and much loved book, will never part with it (he specifically chose it for me)
