The 2003 AFC Wild Card game saw the Tennessee Titans travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. This game featured the running back vs linebacker matchup of Eddie George and Ray Lewis.
#titans #ravens #nfl - Sport
Ravens titans rivalry was nice for a while when the had mcnair and george vs ray Lewis
It’s gotten pretty nice again in the past couple years too.
It’s a wonky one, but a great and storied one
And that the ravens beat them to go to the super bowl in 2000 the year after the titans went to the super bowl. Tough matchups. Glad to see it come back strong in the last two postseasons with Henry going off and Jackson doin his thing.
@@bbryant9455 it’s crazy that the home team can’t seem to win one in this matchup.
@@bbryant9455 i was only 5 at the time i forgot all about that matchup lol yea im glad the rivalry is lit again
George v Lewis is one of the GREATEST 1 on 1 rivalries EVER in the History of football. I'm talking like Rice v Sanders level of competition.
Aye We had some beast RB on the Titans. Earl Campbell was the truth too. CJ 2k. Now my boy Henry
yep. a great history of beasts in the backfield
y’all Runningback Nation
@@dagoatgully3186 them, Ravens and Broncos. Other than those three maybe Seattle and Dallas traditionally always have good backs
I actually know Earl and even tho Houston converted to the titans he never acknowledge the titans as his team.he only acknowledge the Houston oilers💯
@@koryjenkins8400 big facts. He only starting showing respect towards the Titans names cause of CJ2k and Now King Henry. Which is fine cause I’m a oilers fan too.
Ppl really be forgetting that Eddie George was a flat out beast
Eddie George is one of the greatest rbs of all time!!!
Definitely atop of the most underrated list. He was my introduction to the NFL. Not the biggest but man one of the toughest.
STOP! all time greats don’t tap out of games, ESPECIALLY in their rivalries
@@prfgreentr33 Moss did during most of his times during the raiders 🤷🏽♂️
@@prfgreentr33 you’re an idiot
Good not great
Eddie George is such a passionate man and he was gonna do whatever to stay in that playoff game
Eddie's HOF discussion should include the fact that he did what he did in a division with 52 hunting his head
You have to be crazy to want to tackle Eddie George for a whole game. Luckily Lewis was that crazy and skilled.
Don’t let that stiff arm distract y’all that the Titans no.1 ranked rushed defense held Jamal Lewis who ran for 2,000 yards that year to only 35 yards rushing…the irony in 2021 The Ravens did it to Derrick Henry
youre right.. i had to check it up if that was the same year.
The Titans defense was nasty at that time too. They don’t get enough credit for being perennial contenders for a long time.
@@GlassHalfFull10 💯💯💯💯
If Jamal had gotten 20 yards more he would have smashed Dickerson record
He got 500 yards vs the browns alone. I watched it all. he can thank us for that record. And he did by having pro bowl season in 07 😅 but ya titans d was great back then
And he was one of the most durable RBs. I think he played in every game for like 5 straight seasons or something crazy like that 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
yeah something like that.. not sure how many games but he did play in a lot of consecutive games
@@ClasherSports for a big bruising runner like him, thats quite a feat. Great video!
@@MrGrace thx man
No your right
Yall realize eddie dislocated his shoulder and snapped it back into place by himself o. The sideline before that stiff arm play....true beast. Context matters!
I’ll never forget Eddie, Air McNair, Kevin Dyson, and other old school titan players. I was in middle school during these games.
I'll never forget what's his name!
@@nunyabizznez2805 who is what’s his name?
Frank wycheck? Keith bullock? Jevon kearse? You're missing quite a few from those days. Lance shulters. Samari roller.
@@Beltran15x nah duhh.. never said I was naming the entire team!?!
@@andrewhoward4523 I just assumed you were naming the big names.
Eddie George was underrated imo. I feel like tiki barber got more credit back then.
Tiki does have a SB ring if im not mistaken but EG was a DOG
@@OldSchool3pts nah tiki doesn't. He lost to the ravens and retired the season before the giants beat the Patriots.
@@bbryant9455 good stuff, Tiki used to kill my Skins seems weird he dosent have one, and i realize i remember more TEN great RBs than NYG RBs 😂
@@OldSchool3pts lol you got a point there 🤣
@mannaacComing from a giants I'm sorry to tell you he does not have a ring. Great running back though. Peace out.
Im not a titans fan but when George gave Ray the business on that play I got hyped up
One of the best intense rivalries ever!!! But before that it was Tennessee vs Jaguars! Titans handed Jags their only losses in regular season (2) & post season (1) back in '99.
yeah i think youre right... im might cover that one too
You right it was. My Ravens didn't beat the jaguars until the 2000 season. Those jaguars was no joke from 96 to 99. The last team to beat John elway in the post season.
@@williecheeks8472 Yeah I remember that game vividly!!!
Nothing but respect for Eddie George. Die hard Ravens fan here
It was at that time Ray Lewis thanked God he hadnt gone to prison for murder.
Love the video!!!
Legendary teams both sides. Love this era, my childhood heros on both teams.
It’s funny how Ravens fans r still discrediting George. Even Ray Lewis himself said that he definitely got destroyed there by Eddie
Where are you seeing this? What Ravens fans are discrediting George? You like starting controversy.
Huh? Eddie was a good back and got a shot in on ray but its not like ray was invincible or anything lol he just did more homework then the opp
“Got destroyed.” Even with the stiff arm Ray pulled him down for no gain. But congrats on converting a 2nd and 13 to a 3rd and 13, I guess.
"Never taking shorts bc Brooklyn's the borough!"
Everybody saying Ray Lewis still made the tackle but to me it looks like he pulled Eddie arm down with him while getting slammed to the ground
Thus making the tackle....
Which means he made the tackle… which was his primary job…
Great vid once again... man i miss eddie george. A true old school back
I remember a game where chiefs fullback Tony Richardson beat Ray Lewis up all game.
Tony Beat everyone up!
I was at that game wearing a George jersey!!
Favorite “Unofficial” NFL Rivals Til This Day .
sucks they dont play against each other this season
It was cool to see the Oilers old logo.
This is one of the best rivalries in the nfl
If you were to make a top 5 list of physical runners, there are a lot of names you could pick from a it's tough to quantify, so if in that list you choose Henry, George and Campbell you wouldn't be crazy.
I believe Ray got his revenge when he intercepted the ball by literally ripping it out of Eddie's very hands.
that was the 2000 Divisional Game
@@ClasherSports Ah! 👍👍
@@ClasherSports no shit…. You doing a video on that? Or just this bullshit play?
@@GlassHalfFull10 have some respect.
@@ClasherSports great vid man.
Steve McNair, Derick Mason and Samari Rolle all went and play for the Ravens a couple years later haha
Key pieces to the 2006 squad
I don’t know if I’d say he got the better of him on that play. Eddie George stiff armed him for a no gain play? That’s a defense win.
Lol dude even tho it wasn’t a gain RBs still just don’t do that to ray lewis especially after dislocating their shoulder… that’s impressive idc what anyone says
We are the Running back franchise
Ray vs Eddie was like Ali vs Frazier back when NFL was good! I watched that game and Ray annihilated Eddie the entire game until that 1 play. Both were gladiators
Poster shot, Lewis got thrown like a rag doll.😊
Subbed
You reaching Bruh🤣because if I remember correctly the overall results was a 3yd gain, a field goal and 88 total rushing yards.
How is that "reaching"? Not many players at all can say they stiff armed Lewis like that, its pathetic people use every excuse to try and discredit a good stiff arm, just like the situation with the flag on the play where Henry stiff armed Josh Norman, even Lewis himself admitted he lost this battle.
Not even a 3 yard gain. It was a run for no gain 😂
@@ds--pu1tv the biggest individual “win” that George ever had against Ray Lewis was stiff arming him for no gain, with Ray able to pull him down through the stiff arm… but I guess y’all gotta get your “victories” in where y’all can
I literally almost everytime i see a great stiffarm or tackle thru go nuts like its the final play. Moreso than outcome a lot of us who dont bet or team root and player follow as ex athletes. We scenerio like aforementioned and spectacular play watch. I mean we still got our teams. But the amazing play lives forever.
Speaking of which #aew wrestling like 5 hours ago. The final match that aired 8pm est was fcking impressive like 2002ish wwe level. Was at gym and they turned it on. Freaking amazing and im not a usual follower but the talent is astounding
Great Great video👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💜💜💜
Thank you 🤗
rivalry reborn yesssa
He literally lifted ray off his feet
Ray still pulled him down for no gain 😂
i miss the Oiler uniforms.
they were dope
Ray Lewis owned Eddie George. End of story 💯
Its more OWNAGE when ya ass get tossed off ya feet by a stiff armed that was injured 2 quarters prior 😂 ...show me Ray single arm handling Eddie
@@matsuwd-emethdaath4002 I watched Ray Lewis over the years punk Eddie George! Ray had his heart💯
@@matsuwd-emethdaath4002 all that for no gain 😂
I used to watch those games. They were truly old school smash mouth football.
Tennessee should’ve won that Super Bowl one of the best game ever a yard short
Man vs Man 💪🏽
Jevon Kearse was the truth 💯 my guy. Such a monster back then
Lmao the greatest play George ever had on Ray Lewis resulted in a minimal gain.
Always seemed like Lewis dominated George more often than not
You’re missing the point
@@TristanLockamy whats the point then ?
Ray Lewis was paid to make tackles. The stiff arm is a technique to avoid the tackle by fending off the defender. Ray Lewis made the tackle and dropped him pretty quickly; George's stiff arm failed.
@@NoelSchively George's stiff arm is nowhere near as potent as Henry's is rn
@@TristanLockamy and what exactly is that? That George somehow won this matchup with a run for no gain? Give me a break. You gain success from getting yards, not from no tangible gain.
It's back, we have the Ravens #. Titans have won the last 3 out of 4 games against the dirty bird's.
too bad they dont play this year against each other
Ravens have 2 Lombardis. Catch Up!
Ravens own y’all over the course of our history.
George was a beast, but on that play, even with the stiff arm, Lewis actually won the play.
#TitanUp
Yet it was still a tackle for loss. Lewis won that play despite how it looks..
Good stiff arm... still got tackled for no gain
Can you imagine if the ravens had a good qb they would have won more Super Bowls
if they had playoff flacco.. at least 1 more. playoff flacco is huge in the playoffs
Personal brouhaha one on one rivalries like this are great for ticket sales and TV ratings!!! Its always about the money folks
They sound and look like twins 🤣
Would have been cool if could add the clips from Eddie's Football Life but I guess you can't because of copyright. Still a great interesting vid
Titans will win super bowl 56 brown and Jones titanup one scoring offense 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
Man that stiff arm didn't even prevent the tackle
"Most nastiest" hurt my brain.
Ravens stole a super bowl from us in 2000 that 2000 squad was better then the 1999 squad that went to the super bowl
Nah the Titans just choked like always
quit playing and give that man a gold jacket!
I remember watching that stiff arm live and always wondered why these football “guys” on tv and all these compilations always left it out
First time I've seen this ,wasn't too often when someone got any advantage against Ray.
How did he have an advantage? He TRIED to stiff arm Lewis; Lewis still made tackle and dropped him right there.
@@NoelSchively his stuff arm put lewis on his heels & going down, lewis made the tackle but 3 yds against lewis who I like better than LT is a win..
@@NoelSchively that's also why Eddie went down so easy he put everything he had into that stiff arm, not many people AT ALL can say they stiff armed Ray Lewis like that.
Honestly that was a great read, scrape, and fill by ray, holding george to no gain. But stop roastin eddie, he should be pumped up after overpowering ray in a 1 v 1 meetup, folding him over with a tanky stiff arm. It was a long 3+ year rivalry between 2 of the nfls top tough teams, and a rivalry between to physical specimens, known for being strong alphas on the feild, and he knew he was nearing the end as his body was falling apart, in this game particularly, & its RAY LEWIS. Obviously no one is gonna truck a prime ray lewis, but stiffarmin his ass quick to the ground with force like that is saying something.
A stiff arm is only nasty if he doesn't make the tackle
So even if the player is lifted and drove into the ground its not nasty? Lol
@@seanwebb4291 no just like in this case he lost a yard, its like having a nasty dunk on someone but the ball bounces off the back of the rim
@@williamdean9378 exactly
Eddie ain’t stiff arm ray lewis lol…. That’s called an attempt. Ray still made the tackle. But good ATTEMPT!!!
Yall don't know how good Eddie Geroge. I'm being honest nobody never got the best of prime Ray Lewis. Ray had more success, but believe me he never just dominated Eddie George
The stiff arm got him zero extra yards. I'd say Ray Lewis won that every time.
Future Video: Calvin Johnson vs Matt Elam (2013)?
He was more likely on pain meds so he didn't feel anything
This is not a stuff arm...how did Eddie fall...🕟🕔
I would have loved to have seen Bo Jackson go up against Ray Lewis !
True smashmouth back with breakaway speed . Might as well been trying to tackle a horse
As far as Ik Lewis and George are friend's off the field, but on the field were enemies
Damn Steve McNair got mvp with those numbers? 🤔
Thought I'd never see this again. He absolutely urfed Ray Lewis. Only back to do so
Look up when Ray Lewis got blow up by Seattle fb that shit was crazy lol
Eddie was hurt in this game and even was having on hell of a game against a good defense. That sums up the game cuz titans win it
That's football!!!
@2:08 ayeeee wen Michael Strahan played for the ravens an wore Raw Lewis number.???
2:14 eddie stiffs ray
Also Eddie never killed anyone
Neither did Ray.
7:58 is when magic happend
Ray Lewis cried in the car
Why?
Highly doubt it
Ray used to cry on the field all the time. And has 2 Super Bowls. What’s your point?
@@GlassHalfFull10 Titans fans so traumatized by this dude that they gotta make up get back scenarios lmao
Buddy really made a video about a 2 yard run, that led to a field goal. In a regular season game where Eddie had 88 yards.
the video was about the game... but he highlighted the stiff arm with the thumbnail
Yeah but who members the game Ray made Eddie quit at halftime?..nope!..that dude is trying to literally kill me!..every time he hits me I see a white light..I ain't goin back out there..lol..
if I where ray lewis being stiff armed I would say later on after being retired " and who's in the professional HOF?
Insert "heavy sigh".....
I miss the OILERS!!!!
Chris Johnson*
Decent stiff arm but Ray still made the tackle! With ease 🤷🏽♂️. Great 1-on-1 and team rivalry though!!
What about the stiff arm he gave Ray at 2:10?
Ik this is not about these dudes rivalry but uhh the nastiest stiff arm goes to dude who did Josh Norman wrong
Derrick Henry's stiff arm was nasty... but this was more so because no one ever man handled ray lewis like that
I loved that Titan team they got ROBBED
All this video proved to me was how bad QBs was back then 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Lmao in my titans defense we didn't have elite wrs and fisher was our hc
I would love to see Derek Henry try to stiff arm prime ray Lewis I wanna see what happens
Ray Lewis is a great football player and a leader of men.
Stiff arm for no gain lol
Exactly lmao
Well it helps the running backs today to do so well & use their stuff arms bc these players seriously do not know how to tackle worth $hit!
Huh? Dude you cant hit like you used to. The game has made it easier for offenses. Lol
@@seanwebb4291 Huh? "Dude" exactly my point. Re-read what I said & this time process what I said. LMAO
Hurts that henrys a bird now
Ehh still brought him to the ground more of a win for Lewis
are you fucking blind. even lewis himself admits he lost that one
