In July 2012, the I Dream Of Wires team visited the Brooklyn studio of one of the most influential and revered electronic musicians of all-time: Depeche Mode/Yazoo/Erasure founder, songwriter, and synthesist, Vince Clarke. In addition to an impromptu tour of his jaw-dropping collection of classic analog synthesizers, we sat down with Vince to discuss the formation of Depeche Mode, how synthesizer technology changed in the 1980s, and why he decided to go back to his analog/modular synth roots.

Thank you for this!!!
The early shot of the band with the mono synths on beer crates is just great, it's what Daniel miller described when he 1st went to see them, would love to have seen them live back then.
I went to that gig at The Moonlight Club in West Hampstead!
Great piece here, loved the history and sounds accompanying. Also, at the end, that slow down to frame freeze and disolve into the graphics was timed oh so well all together with the music. thank you
very true how the market as changed now
Be sure to stick around after the credits! 8:30
