Its clear Illumination has actual talent from the Mario Movie trailers, just a shame theyre led by people who dont see animation as art.
Despicable me 1 proved that if illumination were to try they could make a pretty good project.

More importantly: how did Ron Howard fail to make the Whos even remotely decent people? That's far more important to the story and message than the Grinch being evil.

This movie is just something that exists. Like seriously, i've watched this twice but i can't remember anything except there was a baby grinch but that's it. I dont know if it's because the movie is really forgetable or my mind just defended me against it because it was bad :/

I know a animator who works at Illumination in Paris. Her name is Annike Pienaar, she worked on Sing 2 and Minions 2 as one of the character designers.
But which characters is the question, was it the wolves?
I honestly think the mario movie could potentially redeem illumination if they keep up the amazing animation and stuff.

I got a way to fix The Grinch (2018)
1. I’ll have the humor more like in the style of The Emperor’s New Groove
2. Have the backstory of the Grinch be more mysterious just like the 60s special. We can keep The Grinch living a life as an orphan.
But maybe Illumination should put some hints
on the Grinch's backstory like some sort of
puzzle to make it more challenging.
3. Have the Grinch’s personality be more arrogant and passive-aggressive.
4. The character designs be more like Dr. Seuss
There was actually a earlier design of the Grinch that and he looked great, but they changed his design to look more clean and pleasant. Which goes against what The Grinch supposed to be as a character. The Whos in this movie don’t even look like the Whos like the book and the Chuck Jones special, Heck, Blue Sky Studios did a better job translating the Whos into CG in Horton Hears a Who! compared to what Illumination did in The Grinch.
5. Remove Fred the Reindeer from the story, that way we'll have more scenes of the Grinch actually stealing Christmas, since it was surprisingly short. We also removed the plot line of Cindy Lou wanting to trap Santa, since it does feels weird for her to do that.
We should get a better explanation of how overworked Cindy's mom is and maybe explain what happened to Cindy's dad. Like maybe have this be her first Christmas without her father.
I feel like it should be Disney`s turn to hit on The Grinch this time rather than Universal, since they never made a Seuss movie before

I saw someone comment about a Christmas recommendations. So if we're just going to talk about general Christmas movies, I'd say "Olive the Other Reindeer" is probably my number 1 in terms of animation. Maybe even 1 overall, but definitely favorite animated special. Definitely good wholesome Christmas fun, that gets me in the Christmas mood.
It's a 20th Century Fox production. So, you've got people like Matt Groening, the creator of the Simpsons and Futurama, and Dan Castellaneta, voice of Homer Simpson, working on the movie, as well. I don't know if Groening helped with any of the animation, but his studio produced it and he does a voice in the movie.
Batman Returns is the best christmas movie
I remember seeing it in theaters and it legit had subtitles. English subtitles. The movie was in its original English form but I liked it because I like watching movies with subtitles
I love Illumination because of its focus on being entertaining. Pixar is already a message-driven animation studio. We don't need every animated show or film to be about if Mary learns not to rob grandma every weekend. I enjoy many types of animation (big Pixar fan myself), and we need both deeply complicated films and 'only for fun' movies, so there's a true variety.

haha that is mostly why i made this video! as i feel a lot of my opinions when i was starting movie reviews were not the same and i was very loud. ill mostly make newer videos and ideas/topics but here and there i plan on covering past movies again!

I literally was watching this movie for my last day of school before winter break lmao. What are the odds?
One day of the last week my wife and I actually binged all three Grinch movies. Yes the original animated one, then the live-action Jim Carrey one, and then the 3D animated illumination one. It was a pretty interesting experience to see how different all three of them are. We've seen all three of them before just not in a row.
Based on other animated movies that I hate (wizards tale), I found this movie have organic emotions. Yes the Grinch might be emo but his depiction of saddnessis pretty raw compared to negative depections in Trolls and Wizards tale. Speaking of Wizards tale, no one asked for it to be sugar coated to piontit depicted negativity as evil force that cures by trigging their trauma. The Grinch in other hand his sadness is part of him and is okay because it helped him to move forward and understand what Christmas is about- friends not stealing tohelp cope his trauma.
One of my cherished memories is when my grandpa took me to see this movie in theaters on opening day, he recently passed away. Rest in peace 🙏😔✌️
I don’t hate Illumination’s The Grinch, but i don’t love it either. I think it’s a fine movie for Christmas. Definitely not at the same level as Klaus.
I hope The Super Mario Bros. movie will be Illumination’s Spider-Verse. So that this animation studio that has potential could start taking risks with their projects and push the boundaries of the medium.

Illumation in my opinion may not be the greatest when it comes to cartoon storytelling like Pixar, Disney Animation or DreamWorks but they are really talented when it comes to making their animation cinematic and artistic. I am confident the Mario movie is going to continue to slay with the company’s cinematography but also improve on their storytelling ability.

to be honest i loved illumination when i was little (and i still do) but in my channel i'm just too nervous to say that because nearly everybody hates illumiantion so i stay quiet.Same goes to diary of a wimpy kid the long haul i found it a pretty great watch but now i realize its the worst thing ever and i think i liked this movie because i didn't really know wimpy kid.Whoever read this while thing and cared ty.

Sing 2 being not dumpster fire was a huge surprise. You’d expect cash grab sequels to be bad by default, but during sing 2 there wasnt really any point in my viewing where I mentally said “yeah. This sucks.” Basically every other illumination movie ever (except Despicable Me 1) has had a moment like that.

Cindy Lou Who and her mum in this movie are like those neighbours you have who initially seems nice, friendly, polite, they're making you feel welcome and you think that there's nothing wrong with them. However, they're too friendly and not only that, they never fucking shut up. There just too overly nice about everything like "hi" "hi", I know I might sound like I'm being a prick but you know what I'm talking about when someone is too overly friendly and nice like they're forcing themselves into your life and won't leave you alone.

I watched Illumination's Grinch a couple of times and I liked it. It doesn't hold a candle to the 1966 Grinch special or the 2000 Grinch film but it's still a good film to watch.
