I just picked up an 04 Taurus Vulcan a few months ago as a backup car, while not very fast the low end grunt makes it enjoyable to drive around in. I think I’ve put more miles on that than I’ve put on my rdx in the time I’ve had it. Something about a simple 2000s analog family sedan that just does it. Pretty cool to see one with only 55k

Something isn't right with the speedometer. Look at it during 1-2 shift

Might as well have a 4-cylinder for this kind of acceleration.

To an extent yes. Driving gingerly, this engine would get by accelerating at lower revs / less strained

@@Intechdude300Fair, the extra torque is a benefit I suppose.

      It's damn near indestructible though

Hello guys, I'm from Russia, but there is little information here about 3.8 essex. What do they say in the USA about him? I'm thinking about replacing 3.0 with 3.8.

3.8 certainly has more power, but I feel the 3.0 is more reliable. If your 3.0 has low mileage and isn't in rough shape, and if the car is in overall good shape, I wouldn't go through the effort of an engine swap. That's just me though, I don't really care about the Taurus being slow.

@@JulianA-tr6pt Thank you! I'll try to find something about repairing and tuning the Vulcan. After the sanctions in Russia, it became very difficult with the availability and prices of spare parts for American cars.

Did the Taurus, Ranger, Escape all use the same V6?

The escape used a DOHC V-6 engine (different from the pushrod 3.0 engine in the Taurus and Ranger)
