    The Fishing was OK but the real experience of the day was taking a fall which could have easily caused serious injury, Clad i got away with it.
    Still managed to get some nice Trout both brown and rainbow on the fly fishing Rod.

    Glad you weren't hurt. My wife severely strained a shoulder on a 15" hiking slip, so it doesn't take much. Whenever I lose several fish, I check the point or barb (back in the day) more often than not, the points off. Expect you've checked that, though. Had a little time in NZ in 2017, saw some hogs, but no tugs. Definitely want to go back. Gorgeous country, like my current location, Iceland, on steroids ;-)

    @jeffprice4611 Před 4 lety +1

    If you buy your flies, they could have switched to inferior hooks. Make sure to sharpen them. If they are barbed hooks, mash the barb so you have easier penetration. A barb doubles the diameter of the hook that needs to penetrate. As always, great video. I can only dream of fishing NZ some day.

    Luck landing mate, very lucky. Fell down a tomo in a similar situation a couple of weeks ago, went straight through the grass without warning. Its just that some days the fish are sucking in and spitting out the flies faster than other days so when you eventually set the hook the fly is on its way out and your nicking them in the skin of the lips and with pressure the hooks pull. Other days the fish chew on it longer and your hooks find better purchase.

    You crossed the border! The fish a pretty transient in there, sometimes there's a shit-ton, other times it's barren. Keep plugging away. Gets a real good raft hatch at this time of the year, but in saying that, it's a good easy float. Sing out if you want to do a float day there sometime

    Landing fish is streaky for me too. When it comes to steelhead, I'll go weeks with 75% or better landing rates. Then I'll drop into a slump where I can't keep one pinned for 4 or 5 trips. I think my worst streak was 0-11. I wanted to pull my hair out!
