They had been raving about the smallmouth fishing in their area, for a while, so I figured it was about time to see what all the hype was about. Brings back some memories. Spent a few years in east AL, the fly fishery there for bass is epic and largely unknown. Miles and miles of clear, rocky creeks absolutely loaded with spotted and largemouth bass. 50+ fish days wet wading with pretty much anything you threw were the norm when water wasn't blown out. Ya'll cracking me up talking about coming up with warm water patterns... A Clouser, Wooly Bugger, Deer Hair Bug and a Popper will catch more bass than you have time in your life to catch. River bass, especially Smallies and Spots would probably hit a bare hook with a few strands of krystal flash on it in most lightly fished places.
More smallmouth vids would be great!
How about a short bus trip to the upper Midwest, we got great opportunities for big smallmouth.

interesting what you say about needing a gun. I and my brother almost ended up in some trouble while hiking up to a place to fish in West Virginia we were fortunate to have brought a pistol.

Small mouth , trout , Gar , it’s all good . Love they way the smallies hammer the flies streamers or top water . Great video . PS to hot just fished the Missouri up by Craig Montana 100 degrees 😓 but caught some really nice fish 😈 really like the raft setups could have used a motor on the MO wind in your face slow water , great for building shoulder muscles 💪

LOL I was howling at the scene when he cast into the trees and you hear "did you get that on film"..... "yes" lol. Funny he wanted him to look foolish on film. Never have caught a gar, but have been close to a few. Not a species I ever want to tangle with. I actually just did my first smallmouth on the fly experience. Very cool. I'm just over in Georgia so I know all about having to fish warm water. I have to drive for hours to get to trout water so fly fishing for bass and bream is basically on the menu all year round

you need to get ahold of Donavan clary in northern Oklahoma. he guides out of the lower Illinois river for Neosho and trophy small mouth along with trout and hybrid. look up anything oklahoma flyfishing even with the wildlife debt and youll see him! would be a video of epic proportion.

Weirdly enough even from a young age I’ve always thought of small mouth like a more trouty large mouth and I can’t ever get enough of them
Bros definitely loved the smallie fishing,I go on multiple float trips a year to the jacks fork in the ozarks chasing the bronze backs,they are definitely in my top 3 species to flick a fly at!

I love flyfishing for trout, but in the heat of the summer bass seem way more willing.
You guys need to come up to Minnesota and fish the river channels of the Mississippi River. The smallies here are trophy size during spring spawning. And they hit hard and often. There are also Trout spots in the southern areas of the state.

Loved the video no one really fly fishes around here for anything they all take trips to the mountains of nc for trout. i got haw river access in walking distance
and they say there are trout in the river but ive never seen of met anyone who has caught any so i usually just go for panfish, and smallmout/ anything that will bite but leanring alot from you guys. Just broke my fly rod when closing the tool box on the truck so definitely need to get another so i can get back to the river. Keep the videos coming
More warm water fishing, bonus points for more Alabama. I'd like to see a redeye specific trip with Drew Morgan from East Alabama Fly Fishing on the Tallapoosa, or Matthew Lewis who literally wrote the book on redeye bass. Great video work, as always.

Keep up the warm water videos. Trout is only one of the many types of fish out there. Kentucky boy here and smallies are what keep me in the water most days. But would love to see you guys do a trip to Cumberland River for the great fishery below Wolf Creek Dam.

@@WildFlyProductions We have a "Tuber Hatch" frequently on the Oconaluftee River in Cherokee NC. They're like Locust Bicyclists.
@@_JimS That's why I quit fishing there plus I don't like the cost for the permit. I get over to the Nantahala where that dam release is nice and cold. The boating traffic doesn't mess up the fishing either but you might have to dodge a raft every now and then.
Michael Has m done with the Nat, ever time I go they just released the dam water and it’s too dangerous. Gonna head to New River soon from smallies and musky/pike.

Heading to the New in WV tomorrow with the raft for a couple days. My Gar fly has two hooks. I like the stinger hook flies more than the rope flies.

I personally believe the small mouth is the greatest fish that swims in freshwater. You guys are obviously in north Alabama somewhere, and I understand why you are not more specific.
