Deku, Shoto and Bakugo talk about their goals with Endeavor | My Hero Academia S5 E15
    #Deku #Bakugo #Shoto
My Hero Academia (Japanese: 僕のヒーローアカデミア, Hepburn: Boku no Hīrō Akademia) is a Japanese superhero manga series, sometimes referred to as MHA,[4] written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy born without superpowers (called Quirks) in a world where they have become commonplace, but who still dreams of becoming a superhero himself. He is scouted by All Might, Japan's greatest hero, who chooses Midoriya as his successor and shares his Quirk with him after recognizing his potential, and later helps to enroll him in a prestigious high school for heroes in training.
The series has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters additionally collected into 30 tankōbon volumes as of April 2021. The series has also inspired numerous spin-off manga, such as My Hero Academia Smash!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions, as well as an anime television series by Bones. Its first season aired in Japan from April to June 2016, followed by a second season from April to September 2017, then a third season from April to September 2018, a fourth season from October 2019 to April 2020, and a fifth season premiered in March 2021. It has also received three animated spinoff films, titled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission respectively. There are plans for a live-action film by Legendary Entertainment.
Both the manga and anime adaptation have received an overwhelming positive response from both critics and audiences, and are considered one of the best series of the 2010s, with winning several awards including the 2019 Harvey Award for Best Manga. As of April 2021, the manga has over 50 million copies in circulation worldwide.
The story of My Hero Academia is set in a world where currently most of the human population has gained the ability to develop superpowers called "Quirks" (個性, Kosei), which occur in children within the age of four: it is estimated that around 80% of the world population has a Quirk. There are an endless number of Quirks, and it is extremely unlikely to find two people who have the exact same power, unless they are closely related. Among the Quirk-enhanced individuals, a few of them earn the title of Heroes, who cooperate with the authorities in rescue operations and aprehending criminals who abuse their powers, commonly known as Villains. In addition, Heroes who excel on their duties gain celebrity status and are recognized as "Pro Heroes".

One of the interesting side notes about this show is not only putting a focus on how the students learn to be heroes, but how teaching can change people.
We saw all might’s demeanor and mindset change from teaching deku and later class 1a. Now it’s happening with endeavor. I cannot imagine season 1 endeavor taking the time to listen to the trio, instead just telling them what to do outright. The show subtle way of outlining that is commentary from the other sidekicks. They still are loyal to endeavor so we know he has qualities below the surface to endear him, but he’s changing by taking a hands on approach and interest

Hate can be a great motivator, but he has no healthy outlet for it and let it fester into a form of self-hatred that would let people get hurt just so he could feel like he was getting back at his dad in some way.
If he really wanted to do something meaningful with his hate, trying to reach a position where he can prevent people like Endeavor from being heroes would be a good goal.

Yeah what’s up with that? His mom literally threw a pot full of boiling water because he looks like his dad. She couldn’t get to the dad so she took her anger out on little Shoto. That’s even more fucked up. Those two definitely weren’t meant to be parents.

@@co7769 The series seems to suggest that his mother was suffering from mental health issues that were caused by his father. Which is why Endeavor placed her into a hospital and not jail for child abuse. Todoroki always saw his father as the instigator for most of their fights and seems to have made the connection that Endeavor is the one that made her go insane. Not the best reasoning in the world but he genuinely believes it's not her fault. If someone is suffering from depression, you generally wouldn't blame them for their poor actions; you'd get them help.
If Endeavor is meant to symbolize the wretchedness lurking in the society of heroes (arranged quirk marriages, striving for the top for non-heroic reasons, etc.), his mother is meant to represent the purity of that society. Deku's speech (Sports Festival Arc) is meant to symbolize Todoroki's return to the path of being a hero so Todoroki's visit to the hospital connects the idea that his mother is a symbol of heroism in Todoroki's eyes. Since his hospital visit is one of the first things he considers doing, his mother can be seen as the beginning of the path to heroism. So it at least makes symbolic sense for him to forgive his mother.

@@jasonmayo if someone is suffering from depression I would blame them for their poor choices. Unless you are seeing things that aren’t there or you are literally incapable of seeing why things that are wrong are wrong you are literally classified as someone who is sane. Todoroki’s mom knew exactly what she was doing was wrong as she immediately tried to fix it and apologized time and time again. She was the one that decided to take her frustration on little shoto since she couldn’t do anything about Endeavor. What kind of adult attacks a defenseless child? Much less your own son who sees you as the one person who is supposed to protect them?
Stop trying to take the blame away from her.
What you are saying is as if you placed the blame of school shooters on the people that bullied them or ignored them. See how your argument completely falls apart as I am sure you wouldn’t blame the deaths of those kids on the bullies but on the shooter itself.

I definitely agree that Todoroki's mom did something bad, but I also can see why he forgives her and instead places the blame on his father. Todoroki sees his father as the main issue and blamed him for everything. The clip even supports this with "Looking back, my head was filled with pointless hatred for you". A kid can't be expected to make logical judgements. Todoroki saw his father as the source of their problems and saw his mother as a fellow victim. Whether or not she is innocent doesn't matter, Todoroki sees her as innocent and that's why he doesn't hate her.
Also, I have a problem with Co's argument about school shooters. They are implying that the shooter is solely to be blamed, but that's not true. Both the shooter and the bully deserve to be blamed since the bully was the source of the problem. To go back to MHA, both Endeavor and Todoroki's mom are to be blamed for Todoroki getting burned. They both played a role and both deserve to be blamed. Unfortunately, people only seem to be able to focus on the person in front of them, meaning that the bully in your example gets off without punishment despite playing a major role in the death of innocents.

@@co7769 The thing is in the moment she *didn't* know what she was doing, in the moment it happened. Her trauma broke her psychologically to the point that she hurt Shoto thinking she was defending herself from Endeavor. She realized what happened immediately after. That's why she's been in the hospital for so long because she became completely broken mentally. That kind of trauma takes years to heal, and we are only just seeing her leave the hospital now

Bakugo will always be a cheap copy of Vegeta, I created Vegeta's development as a character and tried to have a better deal with his archrival Goku in the Dragon Ball series instead with Bakugo If it were because of the script that always helps him, he wouldn't even have development as a character, he hasn't treated Midoriya with a little more tact and he's honestly the most hypocritical guy I've ever seen. In a series he is not the protagonist of the series, that role belongs to Izuku Midoriya, nothing more and nothing less.
