- In this video i show you how i restored this vintage and rusty knife found at flea market.
This knife was in very bad shape and the blade was destroyed.
I removed all the rust and after i polished, nickel protected and repolished.
For the handle i decided to make an epoxy resin with some color and gold leaf.
This restoration took me a lot of time, i hope you like it!

Hi I'm looking to set up nickel plating at home to plate old watch cases, what is the solution you used, it worked so well..EDIT - HA, I watched this late last night...I should have just read the bottle :P
Done thought I had
The bayonet is a Turkish model 1890 for the Mauser rifle
I have a name for your new assistant, your new kitty cats name will be wWatcher. I figured this name out because your cat loves to watch you do new things and sniff things. I must know how do I send you something I want you to fix.
nice bayonet !
That's not a WW2 french bayonet, that's a 1874 Gras bayonet. Though obsolete, many were still used during WW1 by reserve troops and even by German POW camps guards. This one is interesting, as it seems clear it has been shortened, probably to be used as a trench knife. Good job, as this bayonet was clearly beyond restoration...
@RainbowGamingYT but-
@RainbowGamingYT it’s not illegal to be nice and let them know.
That’s cool that you know this!
@@SamB2Good You're welcome...
Dude. I mess with people with my mediocre knowledge of weaponry. Please teach me
Came for the blade restoration, stayed for the cat. That handle was gorgeous! The whole thing came out beautifully.
Thank you very much!
What cat I SEE NO EL GATO
At first, I thought it was the end of the kitty when they said "Let's test it", and cut to a screen with just the cat
I don’t know what to comment but I just wanted to comment because I like sandblasting.😅
I love how much effort you put into restoring every item! It always turns out beautifully at the end, always so calming to see the transition from start to end!!

I’m amazed that the cat waited to eat the salmon in his food bowl and didn’t just devour the entire fillet. That’s a good kitty
That's a great cat right there.
He should name it Patience

LOVE the colored resin! Resin creations are always fun but the color adds a compelling new dimension!
Bro can restore literally anything
Isn't the cow watering cup and sharpening part a reference to the Japanese guy that makes incredible knives from wicked stuff?
I love that guy's channel!
@@AlexandreNegrao Me, too! I thought the same thing, that it was an homage.

The cat name could be Sandy... Short for Sandblast.... I could watch your cat and a sandblast compilation video for AGES Heheheeh
Maybe more like sandy claws 🎅
I thought about that name too! And for the same reasons; the sandblasting videos were what made this channel one of my favorites!
This is the most fitting one, even if the cat is male or female, have my upvote!
Even the right color
I second that. Sandy is an excellent name.

Well, it's in a very good rusty condition
Hi didn't expect you
it was literally so pitted that he couldn't get a mirror shine on the polish lol
what he meant is that it wasn't missing too much parts.
well that was sure unexpected
Turned out really cool mate, totally didn’t expect it to come back to life but you nailed it

Cat has to be named D'Artagnan. The knife looks awesome even with all it's craters, love the handle too.
Now THAT is an awesome name for the kitteh!
This is the type of guy who takes restoration to the extreme and never ceases to entertain us
I gotta say, I just found this video on my recommended. Awesome! It's exactly what I was looking for! Satisfying, professional, and Sandblasting! My favorite part! Keep up the work! You're videos are AWESOME!
I like the idea of a guy that restores old metal objects owning a cat called, “Rusty!” … or “Rouillé.” Like calling the one gigantic guy you know, “Tiny.”
It’s irony…. rusty irony!
Rouillé du Tysy? If it's a dame then Mme Rouillé du Tysy...
@@DanSuneKronvold Mme Rouillée*
I think you should name your cat Aurum, the Latin word for gold, because of the golden color of his eyes! As well as this being his first project, and involving lots of gold 😁.
Since it's a gray cat, the name should be Argentum. :D
Thats also a beer from Spain. I dont know...
Nickel and Mercury came to mind when you said he was gray, since you already mentioned Silver
I think that’s an adorable name for the cat!
Name him Dagger
Thank you I love how you preserve history by restoration someone could have took it and who knows
if there were to ever be a zombie apocalypse, we are gonna need more people like this man
That turned out beautiful, I’m constantly impressed that you have so much patience with these projects, two days of sanding, I could never! Thank you

Cats are so funny, “I can’t eat that it’s not plated properly”
Cats are very contextual learners, so it may genuinely not have recognised the salmon as food until it was in the food dish.

I love the sandblasting! But I love even more the little helper you now have in the workshop! The name Epoch would be cool for the cat.

That cat has epic patience. Most would have pounced on that piece of fish as soon as you had set it there.
Darwin would be a great name for such a cute little kitty.
Cat’s name should be “Patina”. It’s hard as hell to get rid of, and you’re never quite sure that you want to.
0:14 is no one gonna talk about this transition
Fr dude that was so clean
I love the sandblast I think that's one of the best part watching yourself it's so relaxing.
I own one that I bought from an antique shop years ago. Mine has an inscription saying “Mre d’armes de St Etienne 1876” which means “Manufacture of arms of Saint-Etienne 1876”.
A fun fact about this blade is that it is one of the last of its kind. These bayonets are the last sword-type models before the French army moved to more contemporary bayonets that resemble knives.
Big brain

I actually really like the bubbles/indentation in the blade. It's not a very structurally supportive look, but it really does add some character to a very old blade :)
And it makes it look legit
It would be a little different if he was actually using the sword but he’s not so it doesn’t matter how good the structure is, i agree tho it makes it look really dope.
Led me to think
It makes it look more bada$$

Also the name of the cat. Rustor.
The Rusty Knife is really a Bayonet, just like the old times being an armchair learner of the military history.
Похоже на то.
It a bayonet that is from WW1 or older. That shape of blade was outlawed after WW1
@@MysticKnight38 Sort of Sword type Model 1907 designed for SMLE or Lee Enfield rifles it has a hook quillon and the other one is a Japanese Type 30 bayonet.

Amazing method and rust restore video. This is motivation to start my own channel. Thanks a lot 😊

WE LOVE SAND BLASTING AND NAME THE CAT RUSTY! Please send stickers loooool
With that metal ring at the junction between the handle and blade and the "T" backbone of the blade, plus it's about a foot long this "knife" looks like a bayonet.
That’s what it is I’d bet. It’s about the right shape and size for a bayonet lug
Yah
yeah, it *HAS* to be a bayonet. knives dont have those rings, and the shape of the blade is triangular, meaning it was indeed meant for combat. .. musket combat, but combat nonetheless.
It's a late 1800's French Bayonet. There's one for sale up on eBay that looks like this.
@@KumaTsunami, it seems to be a heavily eroded Gras rifle (1874) bayonet with a quillion and a missing pummel.
It's still hard for me to decide which was more awesome: the cat or the knife?!😅😅 lovely video Tysy 🤗🤩🍻 by the way,a name for your cat 🐈 : Luna 😍

Two things that are a bonus to these videos: cats and sandblasting.
Mixing the gold leaf in with the epoxy was a great idea. Beautiful results as always!
The handle looks like its made of bullet shavings, incredible video
sandblasting is for some reason really satisfying
Depending on the cat's gender: for a male- Agni, which means fire, which describes the beautiful eyes. For a female- Rococo, which is an elegant Victorian era fashion in France and would fit the elegance.
Victorian?
or just name it "subscribe"
@Projekt Kobra what are you talking about? They gave an option for both genders that cats have.
This looks particularly interesting. I really like the handle you made as well!
As for sharpening the blade, single strokes, not back and forth. Blade ends up sharper that way.
Kitty looks super cute!
