I own a 2015 Mega Cab and I can tell you that it's awesome. I'm 6'4" and 280 lbs. and when I go hunting and fishing I sleep in the back seat...I have some custom cut neoprene and memory foam which makes a great comfortable sleeping surface and use my sleeping bag. There's so much room back there, especially when you roll the front seats all the way forward. I would never have anything else.
RAM should just come out with a hot shot trim that has the mega cab with and extended frame for the longer bed. Then they could charge like 5 grand more for it.
Check out an old issue of Diesel Power magazine. It had a test of a Ram they called the Longhauler. It was a concept truck not to be put in production.

With the front passenger seat all the way forward you have a ton of leg room laying diagonal. (The opposite direction) I have a crew cab with a custom bed in place of the back seats and it works great for me.

I can't drive down the road more than a few miles before my piriformis tightens up and the sciatic nerve starts screamin. I stopped driving with my wallet in my back pocket years ago and eliminated the issue. Im almost positive this isn't a revelation to you but just wanted to throw it out there. Take care man!

I bought a special wallet from REI store that has a flat rope style wallet tether (like the old style chains) and it also has a rubber band to keep it close and a zipper compartment on one side. I run the tether through my belt loop. When I drove I pull out my wallet and let it dangle or fall back against the seat! Oh, the wallet also has the rfi chip blocker to keep hackers from stealing credit card info. Anyways...I own a heavy equipment and trucking business and it’s important to not sit on my wallet! I can’t remember brand of this wallet but what a lifesaver. And you won’t forget it when you jump out of truck. And it won’t fall open when dangling as the rubber band holds it shut.
Ram really needs to manufacture a MegaCab with an 8 foot bed. It’s just a no-brainer since there are so many after-market shops stretching MegaCab beds to 8 feet already. Customers want it!
I always ran f350 crew cab long bed trucks. But switched to ram for the mega cab. Bought a 3500 srw 4x4 new in 16 and love the truck. I was like you not using the 8' bed like before and needing a more comfortable back seat for the kid when pulling the toy hauler cross country. And it is so nice to be able to put all the kids stuff under or behind the seat so my truck looks clean again. In my ford the back seat was always full of my kids stuff.
Andy Hass it was a general term, considering all the trucks out there not just RAM trucks. Lol people still say quad cab meaning 4 doors because there it still is used. Lol RAM does have a quad cab, but Would your picky little ass have been more happy had I said a normal 4 door cab?
I have slept in my mega cab many times. I have found a futon mattress with the seats folded down works perfect. Legs are almost straight as you have shown in this video.

I love the mega cab I take out the back seat it weighs about 200 lbs and I made a bed frame and put plywood down with a temperpedic mattress.Its very comfortable.Then I use under the bed for storage
i wish you would have shown the rear seats folded up...if they do fold up. I'm curious if it makes the entire floorspace flat or nearly flat....for a large dog bed, for example. I do like your real world reviews....mostly practical stuff we need as we research rigs. Thx bro.
Have a '14 limited megacab and love it! I'm 6'2" and have slept in the back when camping plans got changed at the last minute without any problems. I find it works best to put your head in the corner though.
I have the same truck, dually with as69rc tranny. Dipstick is on drivers side. Dipstick yellow handle says use as68rc fluid only . Part guy ck. The stick part # and he said it was for a as69rc and maybe I have the wrong handle from factory. My vin.# confirms that I paid for the as69r. Do you have the as69rc and what does your yellow handle say.
My dad has a 12 3500 single wheel mega cab. He basically throws sheets down for his dog to rid back there lol. It is nice though, I was able to put a lot of stuff back there when he helped me move.
I would really like to figure out how to have a load retainer to keep any dogs/luggage etc in place behind the front seats with that platform back there,
Family of 5 we have the 19 Megacab AISIN. I keep tools air compressor and a detail kit. Still have room for the kids stuff as well. So much room still and the seats still recline. Find a color you like other than white and the Megacab looks great. Megacab or no cab
I’ve got an 09 mega cab myself love all the extra room. Not as many features as that one of course but it’s a G56 truck so that makes up for it lol. That’s a beautiful truck. Wish I had the funds to get me a newer one!

That megacab seems great for being able to sleep in the back. I heard the future crew cab trucks coming for 2022 model will have a bigger rear space and may make the megacab obsolete at that point.
To clarify, what I was saying was that a new cab is in development for the heavy duty lineup. We can expect a larger cab which is what happened with the 5th gen 1500. Its my personal speculation that the new crew cab will be big enough that they may consider axeing the megacab because they wouldnt need two large cab designs.
You can easily fit a twin mattress (4’) wide in the megacab so you and your partner can sleep comfortably back there. I’ve even heard of ppl squeezing a Queen in there lol.

I passed on a mega. Cost increase vs room gained wasn’t working for me. Plus I didn’t buy my 50k+ truck to ride in the back. Lol. I understand there’s so much more room for storage. But it came down to looks also.

Watch that back window! Notorious for a rodeo rig to blow that window out. I'm sure RVs blow them out as well. Don't think you'd have an issue with a flatbed hauler
2 reasons why I can't..... 1. The price 2. I refuse to get a mega cab.... because I refuse to allow other people recline in the rear seats and watch them relax as I have to drive. And I refuse to let anyone drive my prize possession so no mega for me.
@@redwood6737 right. The Mega Cab dates back to the 3rd gen trucks when you could get a quad cab heavy duty, and was based on the frame/wheelbase of the quad cab, 8ft long bed. Now you can't get QC in HD, so it is its own unique wheelbase.
Get MegaCab stretched to have long bed: stretchmytruck.com/Not sure what happens with warranties. At least it looks like a truck, rather than with skimpy short bed. My 2 cents.
I hate the way Mega Cab's look from the outside myself. Wish RAM would just do away with them and give the Crew Cab all that space in the interior maintaining the outside look of the Crew Cab

Not a problem, can still pretty much haul all the same stuff. Can always get a tailgate extender for cheap.
I don't think it is the same frame. My megacab is shorter than the crew cab long bed and bigger than regular cab long bed
