A video I didn't think I'd be doing and even when I knew I didn't think I'd be doing it this soon. In the course of this video I pay my tributes to CT Plus Yorkshire and Powells Bus that as of Friday 5th August ceased trading due to financial issues. We only discovered the issues on Wednesday with the plan to withdraw by Sunday announced...however this wasn't meant to be and by 3pm on Friday all buses were called back into depot. This video includes a trip out around Sheffield in the morning as well as a tribute including some of my unique photos of the operator at the end.

I remember when Arriva Yorkshire went on strike, I got to go on my first ever B7TL a 55 plate on the 111 shuttle service, RIP CT Plus/Powells, u had good buses, in good condition. Good bye! 😭

I was surprised how someone hadn't rushed in for the 377/8. I believe they may have been CT Plus's most busy routes.
KX14 FJZ (1811) used to be in service for Malta Public Transport between 2014 and 2015, loaned from Dawson Rentals, as BUS 338, as many other Optare Solo SRs that are now in Sheffield, Rotherham, and Preston and 1815 was in Malta as well
A shame, but that level of debt suggests a serious issue with their business plan.
And possibly poor management.

1810 is with Adventure travel in Cardiff as T5001 and 1811 is now with Transdev York as 197

I'll always remember Powell's as they ran all my school services and the main connect to Doncaster from Thurcroft on the 18 before they had to leave Dinnington and Thurcroft before they shortened the route to terminate at Hellaby
Just a little update for you all to know that Xelabus are having 4 of the E200MMC for them. As I know one of the drivers at Xelabus told me and they’re already on the way
The sixes brand started up not that long ago but at least the most served service from Rocco bank which is the 6 is back thanks to stagecoach Holbrook based buses to setup that route again like Powell’s did

That's sad to hear that happen to a company also down in the south coast yellow Buses has gone bus too and more bus is taking over some of their routes

So what company will take over the 5,6,X7 ,3 ,10,10A ect the 10/10A is needed for the elderly on swift way and Manor Park also losing the 117 aswell my nan used to travel on the 10 I still remember looking after her sadly she has dementia .
The x7 finished ages ago. As for the 5, 10/10a, 3 and 117, if no operator wants them, they are gone. Unless they get combined into other routes.
I used to be a regular customer of Powells. I used to get their 10 Journey Tickets. I lost count of the number of times I travelled for free because the driver had lost his hole punch, or couldn't be bothered to rummage round to find one of those laminated wallets. I don't know if they ever realised they were giving away so many free journeys... despite having an inspector on quite regularly.
6 is going to be stagecoach from Monday along with 61 and 62 and 201. Don't know who is going to take over other routes, also this company ran the hospital shuttle from Mexborough montagu to Doncaster Royal infirmary and Doncaster Royal infirmary to racecourse Park and ride.
I think Wilfreda Beehive are covering the DRI shuttles but I’m not 100% certain
Cawthornes have taken over the 5 (city centre to Firth Park) and the A1 (Meadowhall to Waverley)
Private firms are folding up thick and fast now.

I remember that the last time I saw 2713 (also last powells bus i saw)it was broken down in my village after working a 637 school bus. The driver told me what was wrong but I can't exactly remember what was wrong with it.
I saw it on 18th July. I think the numberplate is LK03 NKU. I'll try to find the picture.
What stand did the bus A1 go to in Sheffield interchange
You'll have to check my other Powells videos for that but it was one of the middle platform stands on the bit near to the exit.

Absolutely wrong this, they could have been saved..
Financial issues first or stagecoach could of payed to buy the fleet and have it as a subsidiary or all buses would of been bought outright like there entire fleet Alx400s opatare solo SRS solos ect
What tracker do you use?
Good riddance, they underpaid staff, and some staff members are owed thousands of pounds, due to being under paid for years, still fighting for their money via the unions. Disgraceful Company
