    Loved to see this!
    I was actually thinking about the state of gear crafting tonight as a relatively new player. I’m about 80% of the way there on sword proficiency and was blown away by how much of the power you start to see even as low as 30-40% when the epics start rolling in. So I understand Iskall saying it’s balanced. But I think the perception problem is a very real problem. It’s so unclear what you’re getting better at and even that those earlier milestones can be powerful. Before I got into the system it looked like I might need to spend hundreds of gold before I saw any benefit and I had no real idea what I’d even get once I was there. And I think a lot of that could be addressed via UI/UX changes without even touching any of the underlying systems.

      Honestly its something that has been bothering me for a really long time and I'm really glad I got a chance to talk about it. It makes sense from a design perspective but for me it just feels like we get access to it too early and it gives a mixed message. Definitely has a lot of potential though!

    I feel like the best way of balancing summon eternal could be a new offhand item. That way it doesn’t dilute the current pool of armor but the player still has to make the decision to take better eternals over like mana or ability power.

      Given how powerful eternals were though, I don't think that would have enough of an impact outside min-maxing. You can run a mana build pretty well even without it so it wouldn't give up too much.
      An idea I had was to make a craftable focus that gives eternal power so that it doesn't dilute the current pool but you have to invest further resources to turn armour into eternal armour sets

      @@Hellfirem4ge Yeah I think it’s just kind of a difficult thing to balance and that’s why it’s still a work in progress if happening at all. From a game design standpoint it makes sense since from my experience I feel like armor is at a good place right now.

    13 :01 I actually agree that Scavs don't need to be changed but I still take issue with this answer. All he's proved is that ISKALL can win 80% of the time. He has absolutely never proved that anyone or even most people can. Iskall likes to be humble and pretend like he's an average player, but he's actually quite skilled, and not all of us are built like that. Anyway, Scav IS hard in SP, but it's also really fun. If the range of how difficult it could be was just tweaked a little bit, it would be more reliably completable in SP and my favorite objective overall, but if it's lowered at all from where it is now it would be laughably easy with multiplayer, skill notwithstanding. I do think it's where it should be until they are able to scale it with multiple players in the vault, but I would strongly support the notion of making it slightly easier than it is for one player, but scale higher with more players. Might be worth testing with multiple members of the VH servers and seeing what their average is. Because it might be a "skill issue" but if that's the case all you're saying is that it is skill gated for the better players and less skilled ones just... miss out? Because when we're talking about making it more accessible, these ideas are diametrically opposed foes.

      I'll be honest, I only complete about 20% of my scav vaults but I often get distracted. It's definitely much easier to do with a pacifist build but I like using storm arrow 😊
      It was something we actually discussed a lot, especially with ascension stuff so I'm sure there's some stuff that will help in the future on that side too 😊

    I do wish Iskall would acknowledge that looting 200+ chests to complete scavs is a skill many, if not most, players will never achieve. We can acknowledge that all vault objectives are opt-in (assuming you don't curse yourself into a locked value), and so we can learn to ignore scav objectives, as I do.
    On the other hand, I love vault-gear crafting. I get my best gear that way.

    iskall needs to see some of the scav objectives ppl are getting in singleplayer i think, the ridiculousness of the amount of some of the things it wants u to get but are impossible as none of those chests spawn in any of the rooms u go into in ur entire vault run

      Yeah, you get some on the other side that are insanely easy becuse you hit dungeons and omega rooms so you're really at the mercy of rng

    Love listening to interviews like this and super huge kudos to you for getting the interview and to iskall for being willing to sit down and talk in depth about the pack like this.
    These interviews allow us regular players the chance to understand the direction and communicate with the devs in a way, and it really helps to understand when changes are made (which is something a lot of dev teams/companies have forgotten the past few years).

    time to rant my opinions!
    my biggest problem with showing vh to my friends is simply:
    objectives aren't the most clear if they will teleport you out when u finish, or if you have to do smth else
    (for instance, elixir i don't really keep track of where i start. Brazier i have to, but i didn't know that when i started)
    Additionally, maybe add some quests to help explain some mods, especially vault specific ones / explaining why backpacks / loot belts are good.
    On a different note:
    I think VH has its difficulty scaling done right. I love the "difficulty slider" in this specific case. The biggest improvement from vh 2nd is that I can set it per player. I love extremely hard difficulty, so i turned up my personal difficulty while when i introduced my friend that is brand new to mc, i could set their difficulty to "piece_of_cake" cause it they weren't good at the game and that really made the experience more enjoyable for both me and my friend.
    Reputation was confusing:
    with the divine paradox they should've made it so you have to have gotten a reputation point as a pre-req. (REMEMBER, PEOPLE DON'T LIKE READING)
    Crafting:
    I didn't find any issue with the crafting. in earlygame whenever i hit a new tier of vault impicits/modifiers i will craft a new set of armor to get the new buffs before I join a new more buffed vault

    I think it would be cool if Eternals Strength Relied on a Offhand Slot, where you would have to nerf the player by removing the perks of an offhand to power eternals. I don't know if that would be enough to nerf the player as Iskall says though.

    I think for the crafting maybe increasing XP allot, but maybe increase cost as you craft better gear. Scrappy gear is cheap but leveling will allow the craft of common for more resources and XP, and so on

      It's certainly an interesting take 😊 it would be interesting if repairing and crafting fed into each other a bit more too and then you could level by repairing stuff which would help early game progression

    Maybe turn Eternals into a player-centered time limited aura ability with a long recharge and cost? So it hovers around them and follows them, like the god charms.
    The players can customize the aura to fit their needs, whether it is periodic damage to nearby mobs (or a thorns-like retaliation), extra movement speed, etc.
    Most of the current Eternal's abilities would translate well into an aura but you could introduce anything you think may be a fun or unique effect into it.
    In fact, maybe something fun would be an expertise that "Summons Divinity" instead, which allows you to summon a god-related eternal, giving bonuses based on your affinity.

    id love to see the jewel system migrated to tools instead of RNG/focus
    Like a red jewel that when applied to a tool gives ornate affinity but when applied to a vault weapon, gives +% damage.
    Crafting gear is OK, but the control is what, imo, makes tools the best crafting system in VH3.

    Could someone help bring it to their attention that Mana Shield: Retribution is not working correctly? I have reported it twice but seems to be getting ignored.
    When you trigger the AOE, the main target of your attack does not take your main attack damage (eg: your weapon damage is ignored).
    So if you did 150 damage normally, and have 5 damage stored in the retribution pool, they end up only taking 5 damage while the surrounding mobs take 155.
    Meaning 1V1 vs poison, wither, or faster hitting mobs is impossible to overcome without dropping your mana shield.

    If you do a gearless run with level eight storm arrow, that's storm arrows going to do nothing cus you will have no AP unless you put points in intelligence but still, you won't be able to kill a Champion or tank I don't even think you'll be able to clear up POI

    I only have 1 thing that bothers me if you die in a vault around lvl 60~ you are paying like 180 vault gold thats soooo much gold at that level

      Oh yeah for sure but that does incentivise trying to get soulbound on a bunch of your armour, and hopefully we'll see a lot more gold flowing at that level after the catalyst rework

    It is cool that you can do these things in a group but there shouldn't be a disincentive to want to play alone. I for one rather play alone and don't like to be forced to play with others. It is nice to play with others some time but not be forced.

    Iskall is such a gigachad for saying skill issue in regards to single player balance 😂 To be fair though, minecraft as a game, I think is a lot better as a multiplayer game. Having a place I can go shopping has made singleplayer minecraft hard in the same way that vault hunters has made vanilla minecraft hard.

    with scavenger its like: of i need to find 12 ripped pages... finding 12 ripped p and not haveing anything else found.... because droprate is BS why not make the items that you complete be:
    automaticly put too sumission and then finish to exit like lodestone...
    in my eyes scaveneger even on level 50 with 86% rarity still gives you little to no fun.....
    i gave up on playing scaenger because you only complete it 10%of the times because of bs droprate and no quantity does not make diffrance
    going into scav be like: - well looks like its not a fun run, its only item collection them... ores... chests objectives and keepat least 4 minuts to track back to spawn.... what a waste oft time in my eyes
