Hey now! Thanks for all your hard work making informative videos for the community! Curious if you ever removed that one layer of plastic on your front Flat Kick like you mentioned previously before you decided to install the Surestart Pro. 🤙
I was going to, but then I witnessed a ghosting GT at Wheel Fun Weekend (and saved it!). I asked my guy what his setup was and it was Flat Kick w/one layer of plastic removed... 😬. Now that's a 1 off, and I was still thinking of trying it, but then I heard about the SureStart and went that route instead - so the Flat Kick in this vid is the one that gave me problems before, unmodified, but with SureStart Pro in the controller box, and it's working amazing...almost 50 miles in and another 50+ bonks and still no failed starts or drop disengagements! 🤙🏼

Fyi surestart pro does not immediately enable you to bonk like him 🤣
But I do got to say absolutely love it our trails are currently very rutted out and normally my front foot will start skipping off the sensor with the settings I put in it gives me a lot of opportunity to still keep my board engaged even though my foot placement is moving around slightly. Definitely prevents my board from potential nose dives.. I think the air sense is revolutionary

Will this help with my stock gt from ghosting while doing slow speed carving?
Not sure if we have the same definition of ghosting. In my experience, ghosting is when you step or jump off the board and it continues to accelerate with no rider on it. If you are referring to the board just dumping you on a slow carve (happens often when you are just rocking back and forth at a stop light), yes, it should help.
Is there a reason why u changed the AirTag and not just the AirTag battery? Upgraded AirTag or something?
I did replace it, but my dumbarse pryred it open and cracked it (I didn't ok now you just pressed in and twisted like a medicine bottle 😅) so I cut that out of the video... Lesson learned!!

Is it necessary to have the headlight turned on to activate the SureStart?
that's a great question...just went to the garage to test and it still behaved like a single zone with 7 sec timeout til it reverted to 2 zone. Even turned the board on and off and tried again with lights off. It was just a quick test, but seems like it's still functioning as it should without headlights on!
Really like the simple stash for the air tag. I might do the same with the Samsung tag I bought. The sure start is a nice, simple product, but couldn't FM make it obsolete or lock it out with a firmware update?
I'm not a programmer, but I do believe the tech exists in the Onewheel to "fix" the sensor to behave like this via a software/firmware update. Unfortunately, FM doesn't seem to be working on it much, if at all...I mean, we still don't have custom shaping, and VESC has made an absurd amount of progress compared to FM's efforts. I want to see FM do more...but it's exhausting, and the communication isn't there. If I'm wrong though, the SureStart is not permanent and can easily be removed and the sensor will work the same as before.

Thanks Albert! I currently have them set to 7 seconds for Single Zone, and half a sec (5 presses) for the deactivation time - same as Jeff's suggestion.
