    Hey DJ Rick, thanks for the great video. I bought one of the mounts you recommended and I bought a 5000 lumen NEC 500U projector used on Ebay. Couple questions: 1) What file format are you using to create the Monograms? I tried creating a PNG file and it wasn't transparent. I then used a GIF and it worked as a transparency, but the edges are a little more jagged. 2) What are you doing about the rectangle projector "halo" that surrounds the projection of the Monogram transparency? Worded differently, even though my image is transparent and the letters come up in White, the projector still creates a slightly black colored projection in a rectangle around the Monogram. Is there a way to keep this from happening so it just projects the letters and not a box around them?

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  Před 4 lety +1

      1.) I dont create monograms. I just use projectorgram
      2.) That comes down to your projector mostly. But you can adjust the brightness some. Or you can mask it by putting a couple uplights on either side of it

    Good review man. I've been thinking of getting a projector lately but wanting LED so I don't have to worry about bulbs and stuff like that even though LED projectors have limited brightness compared to LCD or DLP from what I read but haven't seen many reviews of daytime for them. I'm a designer/animator so I can create my own designs easily.
    What about the YABER or WiMiUS brands which are about $250 - $300 and advertise over 6000 Lumen and 1080p with Keystone & 8000:1 Contrast Ratio?

      DK after dark I don’t know his reasoning. But personally gobo projectors add a bit more stress to me simply because you have to worry about getting a gobo shipped to you. Normally wouldn’t be an issue since weddings are planned months in advance but when situations come when you’re crunched on time. It’s just an unnecessary stress you have to worry about.

      You also can not do keystoning with a standard projector.

    • @Projectorgram
      @Projectorgram Před 4 lety +5

      There are so many reasons to use a video projector over a gobo projector:
      - Keystoning, which Rick mentioned, is HUGE. You can shoot from crazy angles and make it look perfect.
      - Clarity: Digital gobos looks so crisp & clear.
      - Sizing: between the various sizes of your file + your projector zoom, you can make it fit perfectly in most spots.
      - Color: Color glass gobos are crazy expensive! You can do color for no additional cost.
      - Animated: This is still so new you will get referrals from other vendors & venues when they see these. You can easily charge $350-$450 for them.
      - More $$: You will save so much on gobos that you'll make more on each event.
      - Even more $$: Charge more! They look so much better you can raise your rate and people will pay because it looks good. Some DJs have gone from $250 for old school gobos to $300 or more for digital gobos. Not only are they saving a ton on their gobos, but they're charging more!
      If marketed properly, a single op can easily do 20 monogram projections a year. If you only charge $300, that's an EXTRA $6000 a year in revenue!
