    It is worth noticing with Flex - it depends on the area. In my town the slots are taken as fast as they are released, so sadly can't wait for rate increases. But easy to do a 3.5 hours slot in 2.5 hours.

      I could easily get a shift every evening, however it goes through quiet and busy times. Quiet times people always accept base rate which isn’t good money. Busy times you can wait until an hour before the block starts and accept a surge price which is worth it. Can’t work more than 24 hours a week, but if you just do evenings, you’ll be able to get a shift a day easy. Just depends on whether you’re happy taking base rate or not (i wouldn’t)

    I started my business at the start of March and flex has been really decent to get a bit of money in whilst I grow that . I don’t know if it’s my location but a 3.5 hr block has only taken me over 2 hrs once . Normally £61-£66 …. Not the best but suits my current circumstance well . He hasn't covered insurance in detail either. You can't just have "Inshur PAYG", it needs to be a top to a standard Social and Commuting policy that allows top ups. Most of the main insurers don't do top ups, Churchill and Admiral appear to be the two who do but policies with them cost substantially more. In my case more than double.

    • @GameOvais
      @GameOvais Před měsícem

      @@dkhan3233 Doubles? more like quadruples. You have 2 options go with a provided who will do normal Social and Communiting with Hire and Reward like Zego or you get Inshur which is cheap but requires a normal insurance policy that allows top up.
      For me the first was a no-no, they were quoting £1800+ when I normally pay £450. The second was also a no no because even though it was 57p per hour from Inshur, the only company who allows top up, Admiral were quoting £1080.
      Unless you are planning to do a lot of shifts, don't bother with Amazon Flex.
      The other point is - most people don't even know the level of insurance required or they deliberately lie to their insurance companies.

  • @cartouchator

    That doesnt include the extra wear on your car though, tyre wear, engine wear from constant start stopping, brakes extra wear... you need to have your own vehicle, you also didn't include the extra cost in insurance, car ownership, servicing, car maintenance, ...
    If you take all that out to your £13 an hour, you're getting very close to the national minimum wage...
    I mean its extra income from sacrificing some of your free time after your day job, and in this day and age every little bit of income helps.

    • @tommywills
      @tommywills  Před 3 měsíci +1

      That’s £13 an hour after tax and expenses, so fully take home pay. National living wage is before all these things are deducted, so it’s probably around £8-£9 once you get taxed etc.

    Do you honestly think that 45p / pence per mile as a tax deduction, covers or exceeds the cost of depreciation, servicing, tyres, insurance, VED, replacement brakes, exhausts, repairs and fuel for the first 10,000 miles? Then it drops to what, 25p/ per mile?

    • @tommywills
      @tommywills  Před 3 měsíci +2

      I didn’t say it would cover anything, I said you would pay less tax as you would put 45p per mile through as an expense.
      It’s always handy to put a little extra away in case of any car maintenance. Think people are forgetting that you pay for all these things on a car regardless of driving it slightly more than you would usually. It’s not that big of a deal

    • @usefulrandom1855
      @usefulrandom1855 Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah it will more than cover it and should cover all maintenance you do anyway when doing personal/ normal job. He is nowhere near the drop off 10,000 rate anyway. You are making it sound like cars need exhausts, brakes etc every year. The rest you would be doing anyway and an additional 2,000 miles per year will not meaningfully effect the depreciation or any off the repairs/parts you listed anyway to the relief is just an added bonus that will probably pay for an oil change, mot etc.. that he would have otherwise needed to pay out of pocket anyway.

    • @kassimbabika
      @kassimbabika Před 3 měsíci

      Have you done this job before? If you have, what in God's name are you driving for it: a V12 Bentley?! Of course the 45p rate would cover it!
      Just taking the 6 months example in this video (so I doubled the mileage as a reasonable estimate for a whole year): 2285 miles in 6 months - that's a total of 4570 miles for the year. Multiply that by the 0.45p and you get £2,056.50 in total vehicle expenses you can claim. How in the world you couldn't run a car for a year for that, if you're driving a resonable car for it that's not in the garage every other month and even forgetting your personal use for the rest of the time, is beyond me.
