    Thanks for the vid. I've just retired and found this sad, the opportunities available to me in the 80's are no longer available, ways to escape the grind. Worse, doing these types of jobs just covers the time for the man before you are made redundant by drones or robots. Totally depressing. 😢

    If you see some of the deliveries are going to be awkward or too far away just don't deliver them, don't even attempt them, turn your Internet off as mark as at location or can't find address and it will let you make it as undelivered even if you ain't near the property. Saves you hassle and damage to your car, take them back to the depot and you still get paid

    Totally agree with the theory but if no one accepts base rates amazon will just take more drivers on to compensate. The ideal scenario is just enough people taking base rates so it doesnt make it difficult picking up an enhanced rate.

      Seems like every farm drop off has to include a half mile strip of deep potholes and poorly maintained hedges as well 😅

  • @thecopelandfamily
    @thecopelandfamily Před měsícem +1

    Also you haven't accounted for the mileage you can claim back. 45p/mile

    • @tommywills
      @tommywills  Před měsícem +2

      I don’t take that into account when doing my initial costings after every shift. All my tax goes into separate pot to make sure I have enough, then i work out 45p a mile when I do my tax return

    I do Amazon flex in Birmingham and honestly I don’t think it’s too bad here. On average if I get a 4 hour block I get paid anywhere from £68 - £60. And I’ve done many of them in the past month and non of them I worked more than 2 hours for each of them
    I honestly think it’s all based on what area u deliver in. For my Birmingham works well. On average I’ve been getting £320+ weekly that’s with fuel and insurance costs, and for all the shifts I can do them in half the time it says

    • @tommywills
      @tommywills  Před měsícem

      Yea that’s decent. Prime day coming up, make sure you leave it as late as possible to accept blocks. I got a £98 3 hour block last year. Took me 1 hour to complete

      It clearly varies depending on where you are. I do the odd Amazon shift in Derby and Leicester but I’m based in Sth Notts. I get sent offers in Lincoln for peanuts and as far as Milton Keynes that aren’t worth driving nearly 2.0hr there for a 1.5h block.
      It’s just how their algorithms work….totally random.

    On other day I don't a shift for 3.5 hours. Got 48 parcel in 48 location. Took me 4.5 hours so I done 1 hour extra. After that I decided never to do 3.5 hour or 4 hour shift. It is not worth it at all. Takes longer than the given time, high mileage, also they send me though hills, jungles farms like you showed on this video.

      I’m the same mate. I never accept a 3.5 hour unless its in the £80 bracket. I always go for 3 hour ones. They’re less likely to take the mick

    Hi there. I just watched your Flex CZcams video. When it comes to working out your financials at the end, you are failing to add a claimable expense. You are failing to claim/deduct 45 pence for each mile you drove on that block. Therefore, 0.45 x 68 miles = £30.60 - deduct the £30.60 from the £49.50 = £18.90 minus 20% tax to pay of £3.78
    You can also deduct mobile phone usage/car cleaning also which will reduce overall tax. Best you do some online research. Good luck & best wishes.

    • @tommywills
      @tommywills  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Hi Neil. Yes, I am aware of this. I always pay 20% tax into a pot each time I get paid, then when it comes to my self assessment, i claim back mileage and any other expense.
      I will then likely have a nice amount left over once I have paid the correct tax.
      You’re right though, should have mentioned it in the video

      Just send support a blanket email saying you clearly followed delivery instructions left by customer, so it is unfair you are getting penalised for doing your job. Usually they just reinstate your driver score

      @@tommywills100% agree with this video. Getting surge rates is a case of knowing your depot and the times they get released. I drive a extra 20 miles to Edinburgh to pick them up. Just did a £73.50 for 3.30hr. likewise I have done a 2.5 hour for 40 and had one of the worst routes of my life (mid day shift) + 70 miles.
