Great video, brought back many memories, some good some bad LOL.
Great film, there have been some horrendous demolishon mistakes made over the years, just imagine if some of those amazing buildings had survived such as the Clive arms Hotel, what Caerphilly would look like today.
Im from trecenydd mad see some off the old building that have gone where i see on here where still there when i was in child hood good video mate!!!

@@Aphywel yeah, I've had a look at those as well. I've seen most of the content on those in various books and videos but a lot in this one was new to me. As a Caerphilly boy now living in the US, I'm always looking for things that bring back memories and show to everyone over here.

Does anybody watching this video remember or know of a pub called The Angel? Back in the day, when my family owned it, I believe there was also rooms to let for the night upstairs? My family owend it before WWII and shortly thereafter I think. I can't find pix of it on-line or anything. Only know the place thru family stories, but aparently, it was a huge spot for people from Caerphilly to gather.
There is a pub called the Angel in the village of Maesycwmmer, near Caerphilly. Could be that one.
@@sandrafinbar Thanks! I actually found The Angel last month on a visit to Caerphilly with my brother. They were closed but I found it. Mom said pictures I took showed that the place had been renovated but I was thrilled to have been able to go there.

I used to go in the 49 Club but it burned down.
I lived in Caerphilly for 14.5 years. I have no special memories of that place whatsoever.

anyone173 Blackwood isn’t a place a go to a lot sorry, so don’t know the names of the pubs - but did notice that one on the high street (next to the Miners Institute) was being demolished last time I drove through!
You forgot the Barbican on lansbury Park
Martyn Lloyd I mention the Barbican in the credits at the end..... just couldn’t find a photo of the pub at the time unfortunately.

Just like to add, there was another wine bar in Castle street called Peckers, must have been open in the 80's, does anyone remember it? Against all the odds I have managed to find a photo online:
