I Stay in a Premier Inn Hub Hotel 👉czcams.com/video/j8TpJLOYm7g/video.html
Have you a review of “Zip” by Premier Inn?
To me a Standard Premier Inn is still better than a Travelodge Super Room by far
We're booked into a Premier Plus room in Plymouth next month. Stayed in Premier Inns lots of times, but this is the first time we've upgraded. I hope it's bit more plush than the Travelodge Super Room
I’d agree with that
Oh by a long way and usually cheaper
I agree premier inn is better but £8,99 for breakfast not bad😊
Nicola P, I completely agree with you. Had I stayed in one of these "Super Rooms, I would have been enormously disappointed
Yes Tim, handrails aren’t very aesthetic lol but as someone who is relatively young & disabled, they help keep people like me safe from potentially doing serious damage, especially when places like Travelodge / Premier inn don’t give out bathroom mats to step out onto!
That's why i usually take my own towels and only use theirs for stepping out onto when I've had a shower. Gives me something a bit more stable so i don't slip plus get the comfort of my own towels from home :)
i work in a premier inn, we always have bathroom mats available at reception
I agree about handrails. As someone with RA, and using unfamiliar facilities, a handrail gives you extra security. I often take my own lightweight one that has suction pads to adhere to the wall.
Was looking at that room and thinking I’m never getting my wheelchair in there! I presume none of the super rooms will be accessible?
Last week Hastings Premier Inn had a bath mat
I've stayed in one of these and to be honest, I'd save the money and get the standard room. There's a caveat to that though... I think there's two types of travelodges. The decent ones, which are a bit like premier inn and ultimately the only ones with super rooms, so I'd take the standard. Then the 'other' travelodges, and those in the know, know exactly what they are like and are effectively another chain.
The editing you do for these videos is amazing. Even down to the little details of you opening a door to walking down a corridor, everything is made to feel very personal like we are experiencing it with you. Love it 👍🏻
Thanks Lenny
Sir Winston Churchill, Sir!
The hand rail in the shower helps disabled guests. Id love you to point out how accessable a place is in your reviews.
Ah I would always go Premier inn over Travellodge. What a difference in standard between the two! Not just that, I've often found Premier inn to be exactly the same price as TravelLodge.
When I stay in London, I go to the Travelodge in Vauxhall. Great, clean rooms every time I've stayed. Staff have been fantastic and the food lovely. Recommend it for anyone visiting London.
Previous nights room looked very uncared for and the basic I would want is cleanliness and a bit of care and attention.
For a £16 upgrade fee, that doesn't seem too bad but I'd still be in a Travelodge and that's always going to be the problem...
I've stayed in a few for rock bottom prices but frankly would rather pay the little extra for a Premier Inn or similar. Clearly I've got old and fussy! 😊
I prefer premier in too the food is better the rooms are better
Loved the video. I have stopped in a couple of travelodges before standard rooms and once a superroom but must admit I do prefer premier inn over travelodge as the rooms for more cosy and welcoming than travelodge rooms.
Oooo, a chair AND a cushion? I'm sold hahahahaha!!!!
Good on you for staying the second night to test out another room. It looked grotty. And no coffee beans in the dirty coffee machine anyway so useless. A very nicely designed room gone to seed. Enjoyed the video.
You got that right!
Never been a fan of Travelodge they are always playing catch up to Premier Inn and this super room has not changed my mind.
agree
Yep, looks pretty much the same as a standard room to me except for the Kit Kat's..
Travel lodge is cheaper than premier inn
After watching this review Tim I think il stick with the premier inn, tried a travel lodge before and we didn’t like it at all. Keep up the good work bud
I haven’t stayed in a Travelodge for quite a number of years, because they always felt rather cheap and tacky. When I stay in a cheap/budget type of hotel I have mostly used Premier Inn, Ibis or Holiday Inn Express - they generally are pretty consistent, decently maintained, and generally pleasant enough for brief stays. Travelodge may be slightly cheaper but to be honest I’m not so desperate that I have to scrabble around to save every penny.
Travelodge > any hotel
If you look closer, the massive space under the bad is to fit a slide out single bed, suddenly, the super room becomes a bit crowded. They do have nice padding on the back
of the chair, 2, two finger kitkats and a map of Cambridge from 1469, that will be really useful in 2023 with your GPS. The small opening on the windows are good for preventing
any suicide attempts. Only kidding, I have used Travelodge hundreds of times, even had free stays, love them, great video Tim 👍
Try the Southend Travelodge, where we spent a couple of nights last July. It did the job but the check-in desk is unmanned in the afternoon until the dot of 3pm, the corridor smells like dead bodies and the shower gel is similarly scented- we had to nip to Savers to buy our own!
It’s common for hotels in Canada including Travelodge to have a free (included in the price) buffet breakfast, no extra charge. Being asked to pay extra just seems like a rip off cash grab.
£8.99 for an all you can eat breakfast is a steal.
Even 5 years ago, you could easily spend that in greggs for 3 items 😮
Travelodge had bedside USB ports 10 years ago.
I stay in numerous hotels all of the time! Travelodge heaters are very efficient and not very hard to figure out, basically you set the temp with the up and down arrows 😂
Your videos are all great, but your detailed hotel reviews are the absolute best. Also really appreciate how you also now cover the experience overnight and the breakfast too, so not just a review of the room on arrival. Thanks!
As an American who has stayed at Travelodge in the past (in Las Vegas), I can tell you that Travelodge here in the US is very different than in the UK. Based on this video, the quality of the Travelodges in the UK is significantly better than in the US especially when it comes to cleanliness. This is because In the US, Travelodge is considered a bare bones budget brand right alongside brands like Motel 6, Econo Lodge or Super 8. As a result, the quality of Travelodge rooms in the US is significantly worse than in the UK with rooms often having never been updated since the hotel opened which for many Travelodges in the US is the 70's or 80's. US Travelodges also often have a reputation of attracting illegal activity. There is also no breakfast of any kind at a majority of Travelodges in the US & if there is, it is free but only consists of a pastry item & coffee. Just wanted to offer this information to anyone in the UK or Europe who is visiting or going to be visiting the US thinking about staying at Travelodge.
I concur. Stay well clear of Travelodge in the USA.
I stayed in Travelodge, Anaheim in 1999 & everything was immaculate, better than any UK Travelodge. There was 2 super king size beds in the room & the bathroom was very clean. They had a small swimming pool & if I remember rightly, they also served breakfast. But at that time, there was an all you can eat restaurant on the same block for only $5. I remember over indulging in the ice cream there. Happy days that holiday was.
It’s always refreshing to find a random Tim video in my algorithm ❤
Back in November, my husband and I went to stay at the Knight's Court Hotel in Great Yarmouth, it was our first time having a weekend break in some years. We wanted a break that was far away enough from home, but we could get back quickly in case our teenagers needed us. I must say it was one of the best places we have stayed in for a long time. It felt like a home from home and the staff were attentive and lovely. The food was gorgeous and we would definitely recommend a visit there. Even though it's close to home for you guys.
Appreciate the detailed report of this hotel and how you made a great comparison with your stay before.Your a fantastic travel guide and as usual fantastically done! Your devoted fan from America
I'm trying to imagine the look on an Italian's face every time you mangle the word 'Lavazza'.
I know my bad
Well funnily enough… I may or may not work in an undisclosed travelodge 😅 and just last week we changed all of our shower and hand gels for a different kind.
I noticed after filming this :-) good choice
It used to smell like cheap washing up liquid. Never fancied slathering that on my nether regions! :-))
Proving a couple of KitKat biscuits must have cost them a few pence, but clearly provides a wow factor for guests - a good marketing ploy.
Hello Tim, really this reminds me of how the LCCs (budget airlines) developed. Budget hotel chains appeared on the scne in the early 1990s. They simply stripped away the frills so that they could be price-competitive with conventional properties. But later the LCCs started to earn more money by charging ancillary fees (just check how much you end up paying EZY or Ryanair when you request some/all of the many options) the former have been copied by the budget hotel chains. Hence the Super Room concept. At the same time the cost of a standard room or flight (without the extras) means the firm can display a lower headline price which in turn attracts the customer.
Your videos are brilliant and very insightful. Love the work Tim. Keep it up 👏
Many thanks!
I stayed at Hampton by Hilton recently it had Free Breakfast included for £85, so the same price as here, and it was miles better.
Always look forward to a hotel review, good one Tim.
HI Tim another great video thank you so much for making it and the Super room did look amazing.
Great video. Staying in one of these rooms in a few months, so it's good to see a video of what to expect.
Yay!! Thanks so much for this video Tim, I requested you stay in one of these Travelodge Super Rooms a while back and you definitely delivered!
I think it was your comment lol
Great video Tim! As always.
Thanks for watching
Loving the budget hotel reviews & thanks Tim 🤗
My pleasure!
We stayed in a new standard room at Travelodge Birmingham Bullring a couple of weeks ago. It was lovely, spotlessly clean and very quiet.
There wasn't much difference between the standard one we had and this one - apart from having the iron and coffee machine.
Hi Tim. I'm a very recent subscriber to your channel, having only found it a few days ago. I'm really enjoying your content, and greatly looking forward to watching more of it 👍
I'm a sporadic user of Travelodge, with the main branch I've used over the years being Blackpool South Shore (I'm generally happy with the no-frills environment for the low cost outside of main holiday seasons). I did try a Super Room back in 2018 when they first opened their branch in Acton, which I used as a base for two nights while travelling around the south west on a rail rover. At the time, to promote the new hotel, they offered the Super Rooms for less than most other branches in the area were offering their standard rooms for. It pretty much had everything shown in your video, with the only difference being it had proper air conditioning rather than heaters, and with only having just opened at the time everything was virtually spotless. In all honesty, other than the air conditioning, I didn't make much use of the extras.
With how much Super Rooms cost these days I doubt I'd pay the uplift for them now and just stick with standard rooms.
The great thing about (some) Travelodge locations is that they are the 'vintage' locations that have been around for decades! As a lover of 'vintage' hotel and travel experiences I love this! Again, there are only a few of these 'original' Travelodge locations, and quality varies with each individual management, but its worth looking into.
More budget hotel room reviews please 😊👍
Noted!
@@WalkWithMeTim should try those ibis essential hotels and then compare it to regular ibis
I think if they chucked in free parking, the price uplift from a standard room might be worth it. As it is, I’d probably stay in a standard room and buy a Kit Kat 😜
I love your reviews Tim. Thankyou. I also am anxious when you open the room door!
Yes! Love the budget hotel series
To me, (I’m American) this is still just a basic room. Add a mini-fridge and a microwave and I would pay the extra. Almost all basic rooms in America have a microwave, mini-fridge and air conditioning.
Why the hell do you need a microwave in a hotel room?? 🤔
Geweldige vlog top 👍 groedjes familie maijers 👍
All in all the look and attitude of this hotel as it came across on camera was grotty Tim.
£8.99 is a great price for a buffet breakfast. Here in Australian Travelodges we can pay AU$35 which is around £20.
wow
I did notice the lady in the wheelchair so there are disabled facilities available. But then, Cambridge is committed to making itself more accessible. The cost of parking in Cambridge is notoriously high (hence the wide availability of p&r busses)
We stayed in a Travelodge in Cambridge a couple of years ago, however it doesn't look like this one! The one we stayed in was closer to the station. As for breakfast - it seems expensive, however what you didn't mention was - if you have kids, they can have breakfast free if an adult also has breakfast - which makes it more cost effective (especially if you have kids with the appetite mine have!). Not sure we would upgrade to a Super Room ourselves though.
Hi Tim
You are right. The coffee area was disgusting. Shower curtain more like the old butlins. Lots of choice for breakfast. Nothing super about the room though☕🍩
Great review on the Travelodge Super Room, I think it is nice they give you a Coffee Machine, the Kitkats was a nice touch, me, my wife and take our 2 dogs with us when we stay in a Travelodge Hotel, due to the fact them being dog friendly, we regularly travel to Clacton-on-sea we are yet to try out a Super Room, the Unlimited Breakfast is great value for money and there food is always nice! 😊
I will always chose a premier over a travel lodge. The quality has never really sat well with me maybe too many bad experiences has just stuck with me.
me too!
We do like Travelodge , generally super cheap and the beds are always comfy. The bathrooms aren't always the best. I think the cleaning staff have about 10 minutes to clean each room and god knows what some people do in these rooms ! There is a great Travelodge in London where the standard rooms are great but I'm not gonna say because I don't want it to get too popular 😂.
Nice One Tim .
Super. Smashing. Great.
A shame there was no Corby trouser press. But then, it's as well as you might have taken it to bits through boredom. 😁
Looks pretty nice 👍
Bed looks lovely and clean and comfortable,
It is great we always go in a super room and it’s clear of any hotel
Shout out to Travelodge . . . founded in 1939 in San Diego, California!
Never stayed in a super room, so I’ll look into it. Last time I had Kit Kat, a squirrel 🐿️ approached and attacked me and stole it from me, then ran off up a tree.. true story.
That sounds hilarious...did you chase the toothy tyke up the tree? I love squirrels!
Reminds me of being a kid, maybe about 4 or 5, and my parents took us on a wee daytrip to a boating lake with a picnic. Bloody swan stole my corned beef sarnie right outta my hand and buggered off with it!
@@katewolfspirit6722 I didn’t but went to the Doctor to get tetanus injection. He found it very funny 😄
@@CraftyWitch1990 hahaha glad I’m not the only one.
@@SeanyHardy Ouch! That's not good, poor you! 😮
It was a very good travel blog today of you chilling out and relaxing , staying in a Travelodge super room Peterborough tim
Great video Tim. I prefer Premier Inns but think I will just go for an ordinary room if I go into a travel lodge.
We often stay in the travel lodge family super rooms comfiest beds I’ve found ,value is good always cheaper than premier inn for us and a decent vegetarian breakfast which is always a plus for me we like them.
Nice one Tim👍👏👌
Thanks 👍
Omg I'm from Cambridge! Shame I didn't see you! 🤣😭
Another great video and I watched the adds all the best guys
lol thanks Colin
We stay at a Travelodge last weekend in Scarborough my daughter and 2 grandchildren in a family room 40 pounds for the room and we chose to have breakfast and kids ate free though it a bargain .😅
The intro really threw me off for a second - I was at the same Travelodge a few months ago! Glad you noticed the bar, it was a really nice place to hang out for a few hours with some friends, decent food for the price too.
I only ever stayed in a TravelLodge once when I had to work away (so it was booked for me). I would never stay in one out of choice. Much prefer Premier Inn
Thanks for this we were looking at them and were wondering if they are worth it. Thanks loving the videos 😁
Glad you like them!
Ooooh the Kit Kats did it for me 😂😂😂
I've stayed in that Travelodge in Cambridge in one of their family rooms. It was actually very nice and a great price. I'm not a hotel snob at all and I appreciate the Travelodge prices 🙂 and the all you can eat breakfast! As a single mum of four we have had some lovely Travelodge stays even before their facelift. I think it all depends on what type of person you are, which Travelodge it is, and why you are there. No, we are not "lower class" because we have enjoyed stays in a Travelodge, or excessively noisy people. We are respectful and decent, and I am a lawyer haha!
Tim, for one of your future 'worst rated' videos, I recommend reviewing the Keppel's Head Hotel in Portsmouth. It's really outdated and it was so dirty when I went there, me and my other half couldn't even sleep in the bed (it was that gross)... We instead slept on top of the bed
By the way, really love your videos and have pretty much watched every video for the past year! Would love a message back :)
wow
Hi Tim great videos 💙
thanks Susan
thanks for another great video im going try this out
Have fun!
If you ever come back to Weston-Super-Mare try out Holly Lodge guest house on Locking Road. I've been there several times. You get a large telly. Kettle, mini-fridge, en-suite bathroom and the comfiest double bed in your room. And the rooms go for as little as £45 per night. The landlady is lovely and there is even a microwave downstairs!!
Tim, let me just say.. I love these videos. ::)
Hey Tim love your videos but try the leonardo in derby. I was very impressed how helpful the staff was and comfy the room was. Breakfast was top notch
Not a bad room Tim, funny why they asked you to stop filming but thanks for trying the super room x
You’re so right about the smell of the shower gel - I think it smells like pickles hahah
Won’t be upgrading when we stay in one lol can you go around the London hotels like a tourist see what deals you can get if you can? Thanks for the info and the honesty on the the first room you stayed in it’s nice to know 👍🏻
Another honest review,Tim. Room looked a bit on the small size for my liking well done 👏
Thanks! 👍
I never been to one before but super rooms does sound interesting for wanted to stay in.
The Lavazza A Moda Mio machines are pretty good. I've had them in my home for years. The pod design ensures the water goes through as little "spent" coffee as possible compared to Nespresso, and I think Lavazza puts their best coffee grounds in their own pods (I assume Travelodge is using actual Lavazza pods).
I'm not sure I would pay more for a room with an A Moda Mio machine though, because if I'm on holiday I'm likely to just go out and buy coffee or tolerate the instant.
Just stayed in The Travel Lodge in Staines, tiny tv, and what l didn’t like there was no hooks on the wall to hang things , which Premier Inn always have , no restaurant but for£5.you can have a breakfast box… definitely not worth considering….love your videos, many thanks.
my premier inn atm are doing a guest special every weekend which can be anything from procecco on arrival to a can of beer or cold can of coke to popcorn or valentines stuff recently even litter hand made activity books for the kids this is something youd rarely be offered in a travelodge
Two free KitKats! I'm sold 😁
I think a premier inn standard room is good enough! 👍🏻👍🏻
You have to pay to park at most hotels in Cambridge. Travelodge are generally hit and miss. Stayed recently in Towcester which was quite cheap but probably the most comfortable one I've been in. Prices can vary depending on what's going on locally.
I stay with Travelodge a lot. The only real benefits to the super rooms are air con (if it's hot) and the desk if you need to work.
I’d recommend a Hampton by Hilton. High Wycombe/Glasgow Hamilton have both been excellent stays.
We went to Scarborough and stayed in a Travel lodge Hotel it was great value my daughter and two grandchildren and myself 40 pounds family room and breakfast was extre but the kids eat free 60 pounds all in brilliant. It was opposite the grand Hotel were you did a vlog x brilliant shows x
I stayed at a super room at Waterloo in London. and i must say, they are not bad, it is kinda like just staying at a Premier inn (it had AC)
I have only stayed at a Travelodge once and I wasn't to impressed with it. The TV was missing a lot of channels and the bed felt like you were sleeping on a brick. You can easy get a far better stay in a Premier Inn as they beds are nice and comfy, so would be giving Travelodge a miss in the future.
It's cheap and cheerful isn't it❤
I love Ty-Phoo tea. It’s the best. 👍😊
Great review Tim, thanks for that. The extra £16 seems reasonable for the upgrade from standard anf £8.99 for an unlimited breccy is about the norm. That shower doesn't live up to the billing though, very underwhelming. Would I stay in one? Hmm, the juty is definitely out.
If you're asked to stop filming in a public place like that, I would wonder what they are trying to hide. 🤣😂😆 Unless the staff are just on a power trip, which seems the norm these days!
💯 exactly ! understand if it's in a dangerous place but its not
yep
The charitable explanation might be that they are trying to protect the privacy of other guests in the public areas of the premises
1:31 looks like a hospital corridor.
Looks good to me Tim
Room looks quite nice Tim although I wouldn’t have been happy with that first room you were in. Love the chocolate and stuff with the coffee machine. Don’t know if it’s all worth the extra though. Nice video👍
I must admit I get annoyed when asked to stop filming for no apparent reason. I hope they asked you politely at least. The Breakfast price seems fairly reasonable to me for everything that's available but not sure I'd be tempted to stay in a super room based on the one you and your wife stayed in the first night. A great video as always though.
yep agree
I’d have asked for my money back and left. It’s a public space, and you’re a paying guest. That just further confirmed for me that I’ll never use travelodge. They ruined a free advert for themselves, silly move on their part…
@@AbsoluteAudits But it's not a public space.
@@reddwarfer999 yes it is, as defined in Section 33 Criminal Justice Act 1972. A place that is, at the material time, open to the public is although privately owned, a public space. You also have more rights as a paying guest at a hotel, similar to that of a tenant.
@@AbsoluteAudits Public space or not, doesn't really matter. It was stupid to stop filming, all it does is suggest there is something the hotel does not want public to see.
I don't think I will be staying, (yes I do use hotels in Cambridge, though not this one so far).
