      The white was caused by change in air pressure because of the engine sucking on the air at a high rate of speed. Similar to a tornado. These “clouds” usually form better I. The morning when the air is denser. Hope this helped!

    Great Video! I have never received a satisfactory answer to a question regarding the engines on airplanes. If you define the power of a jet engine from 0 to 100%, I think that 100% power is present at take-off. Do these engines also perform 100% during the entire flight when the machine is at cruising altitude?

    • @janvirstown
      @janvirstown  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! Great question! You are correct that 100% of the thrust is used during takeoff and part of the climb. When at cruising altitude, however, this changes. As you may know, the higher you get, the less dense the air is. Because of this, engines need to be used at a higher rate( like if you were at 25,000 feet then you may need 50% thrust to maintain a certain speed and if you were at 30,000 feet then you would need 60% thrust to maintain that same speed). It would be unhealthy for an aircraft to maintain 100% thrust during the entire flight. This is also why larger planes (especially those with more of a thrust capacity) can fly higher.(they can “move” air quicker and more efficiently.) Does this help?

    • @janvirstown
      @janvirstown  Před 2 lety +2

      Well, if it were a bird or something, it would probably be fine. The engines are designed to withstand those kinds of impacts. If it were a compressor stall, then the engine would be useless.

      @datathunderstorm Před 2 lety +1

      Head straight for the Hudson……😉………no, seriously, one General Electric GE90 is more than powerful enough to bring that Triple Seven back to the airport without breaking a sweat. The chances of 2 x GE90’s shattering their compressor blades simultaneously is highly remote indeed.

    • @janvirstown
      @janvirstown  Před 2 lety +1

      Basically, you know how a camera has a frame rate? Well, if you were to record like a helicopter propeller, then it appears as if it isn’t moving as fast as the blades. So when the engine in my video appears to stop, instead of it being because of the camera, it is because the world moves instead of the engine. Does this make sense.(global shutter is a joke btw)

    • @janvirstown
      @janvirstown  Před rokem +1

      Indeed! A rattle? I love the 777 but I didn’t know it had a rattle. I always thought that rattle came from the landing gear and the galley. I don’t think the rattle is because of wear, but maybe just how the wind hits the blade. Not sure though. Definitely have to google that.
