    The real test isnt out of the dryer. The real test is when you wear the shirt and start sweating again in the shirt that has previously been stinky. How quickly does that shirt begin to stink again during your next sweaty workout and how bad does it smell. Thats the real test.

      They passed the working out and yard work smell test too. It was a long time before any smell started to linger again. But, regular maintenance soaks for the clothes you sweat in is best. 👍

    I’m going to use the oxiclean….I also love their products. I love baking soda and vinegar too, but not for this tough job lol. It’s bad…every one of my shirts is just RANK in the pits. So I will probably go out to get the odor eliminator variety. Then I’m gonna buy a different deodorant lol. Used the “versatile” variety to scrub sweat stains out of my pillows and mattress today. You just can’t beat it.

    I appreciate your video!! I don’t use fabric softeners- but I do happen to know, that your sweat is odorless (unless you have a very specific condition), it’s the bacteria that creates the “stink”. Also, sweat isn’t just water- it contains urea amongst other things that are more like oils. We ALL know oils are tricky and/or sometimes impossible to remove from your clothing.
    I’m not “correcting” anyone, bc no one is necessarily wrong. I’m just giving a little PSA.

      Thanks! Yep, you're right, what we commonly call sweat smell or foot odor or most other body odors are actually caused by bacteria growth. 👍

    Heres one to try. For some reason i thought, if skunk recipes work for on dogs, why wouldn't it work for clothes❓️🤔 i watched some CZcams videos and found a great recipe...1quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 c baking soda and one teaspoon of dawn dishwashing liquid. I put it in the kichen sink to soak maybe 30min then i put in the washer. I added vinegar and lemon juice. It worked. I also saw a recipe where someone added isopropyl alcohol so i may add that but i dont really need it
    Try it next time and tell us what you think

    My daughter is 13 and 5'10, she wears my clothes, i will wash my clothes, and as the day goes on I'm like, oh my gosh!!! Why do my armpits smell SO bad?! I changed deodorant brands 3 times and nothing was working, one evening my husband pointed out that he saw our daughter in my shirt the week prior, and i smelled like her after a hot day. My body was warming up the funk in the clothes and making me think it was me thst smelled. I have tried everything under the laundry isle, and a mix of cleaners that made my eyes burn, finally i took to reddit, and found a few posts swearing by meat tenderizer or mouth wash. I have 3 teenagers, the clothes in this house smell bad straight out of the wash.
    Until now. I go through meat tenderizer like a chef, but we don't have smelly clothes. Not sure how long the fabric will last but at thia point the shirts were unbearably smelly so they were trash anyways 😅

    On cotton tee undershirts --- I haven't done it this demonstrated way, but I've used as much as a half gallon of white vinegar in the wash, and to tat added as much as 3 big boxes of baking soda, plus used the All brand of Oxi detergent, washed, then repeated. Dry full dry. They come out okay. But after I've folded and put them in the drawer, then come back and take them out of the drawer for use, the odor is back. I've even soaked them in salt water overnight to kill the bacteria. Same result. I'll try method in this video, and if they doesn't work, will take them to homeless shelter and buy new ones.

      This sounds crazy but meat tenderizer has worked on my teenagers armpit smells. Dampen the shirt and rub meat tenderizer, leave for 20 minutes, rinse and wash as normal. That and mouth wash

    • @JessicaL085
      @JessicaL085 Před 8 měsíci +7

      I hand out coats and blankets to the homeless around my city, please don't donate smelly clothes; they hate that. They use deodorant and keep baby wipes on hand and use park bathrooms to wash their pits. In the summer when they start to smell even they throw away their shirts. There are some of course who are mentally ill and don't care for themselves as well, but they should get nice smelling clothes too. Just cut them up and turn them into cleaning rags, throwing away the pit areas of course.

  • @eshqa
    @eshqa Před rokem +12

    When you put the shirts in the washer you also put in everything you treated them all with as well as adding more OxiClean, so you didn't really test each product that you soaked the shirts in. You had all of those products, as well as added OxiClean in the wash cycle.

    • @AbbottsAtHome
      @AbbottsAtHome  Před rokem +9

      Having those extra things in the wash may help a little, but not enough to get the smell out of stinky shirts. Really, it's only a long soak that can kill all of that deep, built up bacteria. Trust me, I tried a bunch of these things just in the washer, none of them worked. That's why pre-treats and soaks are recommended for stink and stains. 👍
