  • Anyone else wax their chain and ride their bikes during the winter? I recently did and sure enough I noticed a strange sound coming from my chain. It seems that my chain froze when the temperatures outside were sub zero. It did warm up after being stored indoors, and was a smooth ride on the way back home. Was it moisture in my paraffin wax? Do I need to move to ‪@SILCAVelo‬ wax?

Funny to see the wax chain videos pop up every few years. I tried it 30 years ago and saw 0 benefit. Now a quick wipedown and light application of Squirt after most rides is all I need. 20 seconds to do.

Hey man, you should try squirt cold temp wax!

  • @Kgreatsai

Wow never would have crossed my mind that wax would freeze out in sub zero temps! You would imagine it just breaks off as you pedal. Anyway how are you liking your Outdoor Master helmet? Does it fit well on rounder heads?

    What happened 😮

That's why I don't understand why people love disc brakes. Stopping power, that's it? Maybe beneficial for gravel and mountain bikes. But a good rim brake is more than enough stopping power for a road bike. Overall, I personally feel the negatives are more than the 1 positive of disc brakes
