Alfa romeos these days are so much more reliable people need to ditch the reliability jokes because they are so much better now
He text this while at the side of the road waiting for a recovery truck
Only the truck might miss him in between all the broken Audi’s. Not kidding. On a recent road trip and lost count how many Audi’s were broken down.
Agreed. My 11 year old Giulietta has only needed a new coil, a rear wiper seal, and fixing a snapped wire in the rear hatch apart from regular maintenance. Apart from the early Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, their current lineup is fairly solid reliability wise.
Had 2 Alfa, never had any issues
Only issue ive had w\my '18 stelvio Ti Sport is the battery after 4 yrs. Absolutely love my Stelvio
I bought my Stelvio Quadrifoglio almost 6 years ago and I agree with almost all the things you said. Except for one. It's not a Ferrari V6 engine. Several Ferrari V8 engines and this V6 are brothers from another mother. Gianluca Pivetti, who developed the V6 engine for FCA (now Stellantis), once worked for Ferrari where he also developed engines. Apart from that... This car is the best medicine for a midlife crisis.. 5 minutes after I hit the red start button, I feel like I'm 30 years younger... ;-)))
in all reviews all over the internet they say is a california with less 2 cylinders.
@@asr1904 @asr1904 they are all wrong I'm afraid ... ;-)) To begin with .... the crankshaft of a 6 cilinder engine is way different from an 8 cilinder engine... you can't just cut of 2 cilinders. A 4 cilinder engine is also not the same as a 6 cilinder engine with 2 cilinders cut off.... If you like to read more about the subject: google the name Gianluca Pivetti and Alfa Romeo
@@comdutch the whole world is wrong.
@@asr1904 nope .... only parrots who repeat others who think they know how it works without checking what's what. Here on CZcams there is also a video where Gianluca Pivetti explains it all .... how and when he enginered the V6 for the Giuliia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
After many months of pondering, we took the plunge a year ago and purchased a 2019 Stelvio...Really very pleased with it, great to own, fantastic to drive. A year later, it still makes me smile when I put my foot down. We have had no reliability issues at all and can totally recommend it. I have never owned a BMW (driven, yes) and never will......but, I would buy another Alfa!
No one speaks about dynamical performance. I never tried a suvs like this. Epical insert in the corners, epical traction outgoing, with a bit of healthy oversteer. Lovely and drammarical direct steering wheel, never seen something before, the same steering ratio as 458 Speciale. Incredible brakes Power, and the engine. Omg that engine, combined with a hypersonical ZF 8 Speed, you pull the paddles and bang, gears it's already inside the exaust with a perfect fart.
I tried several years before against an RS6 600CV, and wow, they runs the same until 230 km/h...
Grat bought, congratulations!
My mate owns one and I think it's the bollocks. They sound immense from the outside on the move.
I love seeing people drive Alfa's.. it's so refreshing that it isn't just another M3 or C63 on the road.
I'm the USA, I'm really risky driving a 1987 Milano automatic for a daily... I'm poor so I can't afford a new Alfa. It's hard enough with an old one! Great video! Enjoy it. ... set up a Go Fund me account for me to get a ride in a new Alfa.. I don't care if it's a Tonale. But a Quad... Cheers.
I used to work at a dealership a few years ago selling these and they have remained my favourite SUV ever since. Just be aware that that when the car is parked up on a rainy and windy day, the weather can sometimes trigger the alarms haha
My Giulia does that too - it's like a scared puppy, every time there's a bad storm, it starts crying 😅
Stelvio be like “ACC turned off, forward collision warning turned off because I can’t see sh!t cazz0!”
i heard changing the factory battery to a better aftermarket battery fixed alot of the alarm glitches
Not if you got the Thatcham alarm option. Then even a mild breeze can do it
I am very happy to see an American who appreciates the green four-leaf clover Stelvio. I love this car and I think it’s a truly one-of-a-kind car. There are many sports SUVs by now, but Stelvio QV in my opinion is the best in terms of driving pleasure. I have a Stelvio much less performing than yours, I have a 210 hp 2.2 Q4 diesel and despite being much less powerful than the QV I find it very nice and fun to drive. The secret of the Stelvio project is mainly the following: Alfa Romeo designed Stelvio starting from its most performing version and then deriving from this the most ‘urban’ versions. It’s practically a racing car disguised as an SUV! It has an exceptional chassis (Gi Giorgio platform) designed by engineers from Ferrari, it has optimal weight distribution (50% front and 50% rear). High ant and multilink post quadrilateral suspension, in aluminum., an integral transmission system that greatly privileges the traction to the rear wheels (to the advantage of sporty driving), a carbon transmission shaft. It’s probably the lightest SUV in its class. The body is made of aluminum and the engine hood is even made of carbon. The power is a lot and the weight is low. The steering is ultra direct and very sensitive. These are the ingredients of a truly sporty project. Power is not everything! Stelvio QV has much more: large chassis, excellent weight distribution, top suspension, direct steering. Yes you can only enjoy driving an SUV like this! Is the infotainement not up to the German ones? It’s true! But now they’ve improved it a lot, but I have a question for you:
When you drive your Stelvio QV how many times do you use infotainement? I almost never! And I have a humble 210 hp diesel!
Congratulations on your car!
He's British
I have a giulia quadrifoglio, fitted a Fiammenghi H pipe centre section exhaust and a bmc intake filter on it. Sounds amazing. My car has been bullet proof so far.
Driving one Stelvio QV for nearly 5 years now and had not a single problem with the Car....
Ah ok, the Alarm is going off when the weather is stormy but also this can be fixed at the dealership.
Best car by far
Congratulations on your purchase of an Alfa Romeo Guilia QV. I have owned two Alfas and NEVER has any issues with them. My next Alfa will be 4C,and a Stelvio QV as well. Enjoy your Alfa, and don't listen to the reviews from people, especially from Auto magazines, because they are all paid by the Germans to make Alfa Romeo look bad. The Guilia is the best Sports Sedan the planet.
Go old school... GTV, GTV6 or Spider.. you'll be surprised how much you would love them! I'm on the Alfa BB. If you love Alfas.. we need to respect the past, and save, enjoy the new! Cheers!
So happy a CZcamsr has bought a car that most people love to look at and always wonder what would be to own it financially I have been looking at them for about 3 months now and heard the horror stories about the electrics but reading online reviews they seem good and looking at your comments they look good I think you have made my mind up and gave me the push to go get one! Great buy Paul keep the great content coming
Had mine around 6 months (2020 model) no issues at all so far, has a couple of standard things like the clicking wheels on hard left turns, and likes petrol. No issues with the electrics. Its a great car, most people just see it as a black SUV,, nothing special.. but the people who know, know what it is, as its quite stealth. When you want to drive like a fool, its epic fun. The wife really likes it too, its quite simple inside (it doesn't have 100's of buttons) and drives around quite with no issues. Any questions just ask.
@@joper90 thanks mate they seem like the full package and so much more for your money than like the svr and other suv performance models and rarer which is what I want don’t want what everyone else has
There is a reason its good to look at and not own…
@@duffydon1741maybe 20 years ago
@@duffydon1741 Why? What's the problem?
Had one in Misano blue, loved it, wrote it of. In an FK8 type r atm but miss the Alfa sooo much. It ain’t over
Great video showcasing the very best of Alfa Romeo in SUV form, great purchase ! Love love love the green wrap. First time commenting on your videos I love the fact that you seem so connected with your audience. I only subscribe to you and Sam now as I feel the videos are so enjoyable and you really look as if you're enjoying your work. #livingthedream.
Dynamic is the top mode in the non QV models - that's why it's still there as I guess they wanted an "extra" mode to differentiate the QV more rather than just make Dynamic faster (..."it goes up to 11"). Have a Giulia Veloce and the difference between A and N is quite small (and both keep the car really, really tame and tbf a bit laggy), but the difference between N and D is rather large and changes the engine response completely.
I was torn between one of these and an X3M comp, ended up getting the X3M comp but boy do I still love the look and sound of the stelvio
Forza Italia🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹👍👍👍👍. I owned a Stelvio and now I have a 2024 Giulia and love them both!
I’m really interested in alfas atm so I appreciate seeing one currently since no-one in the yt-scene really makes videos on them. Would love to see content of the giulia as well of possible
Good choice! I have the Giulia 🍀 and it’s such a nice driving experience 🏎️💨💨 Congrats!
Great choice. Now Sam needs to get a Giulia Q. Also super interesting to know how much the E-Pace is worse than this despite being a size class lower
The Best Suv in the market! Period
I have a giulia quadrifoglio and have the squadra exhaust controller which i fit myself. Really easy and keeps the flaps open all the time
I’ve been driving a GTI (my dream car since I was a kid) for the last 7 years. Lately I have been desiring a bit more space but don’t want to give up the aggressive style and sharp look of what I thought was the only car I’d ever drive from here on out. However, after recently becoming somewhat obsessed with Alfa Romeo’s… I think I found my next whip. Can’t wait to check one of these out in person.
Love the wrap - the car is epic, very keen to get one. One thing Alfa are excellent at is connecting the driver to the car, had a 159ti and the driving experience in that was amazing, standard Alfa!
great choice all around...theres a historic alfa color from back in the day that is similar (only not matte obviously). looking forward to some great alfa content !
so happy finally a youtuber buys a giulia/stelvio Q. They are such good cars and i am sooooo dissapointed so few youtubers jumped on them. Actually really dissapointed by sam never buying a giulia, seeing he is such an italian car lover. But hey it is all your guys money
In Sam's last video where he's on the hunt for a new daily he shortlisted the Giulia QV.
Congrats! You are one of the lucky few who will experience what really is the best performance SUVs on the market.
Congrats to this one! Completely underestimated car.
Looks great with the wrap! Not that typical olive green, but some kind of yellowish olive. Matches brilliantly with the calipers.
I would consider retrofitting the new tail lights, gives a smarter look. The bonnet seems to be a bit high in the front edge, would adjust it.
Fun fact on the d.n.a.: When introduced with the Mito in 2008, n meant „normal“ and a „all weather“. Later n became „natural“ and a „advanced efficiency“ with „a“ being particularly interesting on the Quadrifoglios, deactivating 3 of the 6 cylinders 😄
Wish you a great time with the new car!
i think rbr ( remove before race) does a fantastic video on this car and explains a lot of it.
Thinking this is going to be my new ride and I love that olive color!
Beautiful car...love the colour
You can hear it's one of the first model years. The sound of the exhaust and bangs on the upshift is incredible. . ( must hear it in real life ) video's don't do it justice. Younger ones are much more ' civilized ' even with the optional akrapovic exhaust.
Love love the olive oil italian wrap!..i own an '18 stelvio Ti Sport & absolutely love it!..wish i could own a Quad. Enjoy brotha
Supercars of London Great Video I'm glad your Stevio Quadrifoglio Ownership is going well and I can't wait to see you do atleast a bit of a build
I love the colour, I also love the shape and it's look.
Good Luck owning her.
ATB. Reeco
thank you for this. i work in valet & all of a sudden - key fob dies… put it in the glove box above the key accessory port & it started right up. key unlock/locks again. 😅
as a fellow owner, try downshifting in race with 15-25% throttle and you're welcome.
I tagged you in a Twitter post about an Audi dealership having a sale event which began yesterday Thursday 7 September and goes on over the weekend to Monday 11 September. It’s parent company is Swansway Group and they have Preston Audi; Carlisle Audi: Blackburn Audi; Stoke Audi; Crewe Audi and Stafford Audi. They all have VIP Sales events.
They have brand new Audi RS models: my favourite are RS7: SQ8 and RSQ8. The SQ8 are about £93K and the RSQ8 about £125K. You could get a brand new RS7 AWD 5-seat supercars to eat the mikes in.
Welcome to the QV club Paul! Lots of Alfa content on my own channel. Get an AHM valve controller and just leave the valves open all the time! Ed
That V6 sounds really good. Not like a trumpet 😂😂
Sounds like 4-banger trash
Absolutely amazing paint.
absolutely awesome daily!
Just seen the Seen Through Glass video with the Jaguar I Pace loan car wanting a 4-door to buy and a classic. The RS7 is about £130K; RSQ8 £123K; SQ8 £93K; Q8 £72K and SQ7 £80K all brand new with 2-year Audi Warranty and 1-Year Roadside Assist from the AA or RAC. You could upgrade your used 2 seat R8 V10 for the 5 seat £130-£133K RS7. SQ8 would be ideal for Sam STG as it has the Lamborghini Urus VW Group 4L V8 bi-turbo, with rear wheel steer; adaptive air suspension and active anti Roll and night vision with the Sports pack and advanced headlights. Forgotten the correct name for the headlights. Auto dipping and have chevrons in them.
I took mine to an actual track and melted a good 5mm off my Pirelli's. Never once did I feel like the car would oversteer or understeer, it was PERFECT. There is just a balance to it. Also the brake temperature gague is helpful so you do a cooldown lap and don't melt your carbon ceramic discs prematurely (ask any Porsche forums about this risk and hear the sob stories).
Perfect car pairing 💯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You've answered my question. Thanks. Beautiful!!!!
The diff drive modes are basically the difference between 19 and 21 mpg... you need to be in race to brake launch it like you did.
Great video. I’m picking mine up next week. Can you let me know where you got the smaller front number plate and how you mounted it. Looks great! Thanks
I’ve just bought one of these. Market is different now but I’d try financing directly with your bank if you can. Nationwide did me a crazy deal.
Best driving suv ever made. Everything else just feels big, heavy, and vague compared to it. Handles better than most sports sedans. It has character and engagement that no SUV can compete with.
Macan GTS might have something to say about that
@@simonxii3566 not even close. The Macan is good but it’s a hopped up Q5. The Giulia chassis is a lot more enaggaing, playful, and characterful with the engine almost entirely behind the front axle and a quicker more communicative steering rack. The Macan is almost so good it’s bad. It’s too refined for its own good.
@@jjchockey sounds like you swallowed a book of car internet cliches hahaha glad to have your opinion 👍🏻
Mini Cooper Countryman JCW is the best.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 not even close. FWD bias and numb rubbery steering. It’s also barley an SUV it’s more of a lifted hatchback.
I am happy for you. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with this gem. ❤
Best car out there atm.
I have a Guilia GTa whats the space like in the back for 3 boys? my wifes driving a Jeep SRT so comparison?
Think they all of his okay I would prefer like at 8 cloverleaf green or having the deep Red that alpha was out with love that color
The car I always thought Sam would buy. Not the Audi guy. 😅
I love it. 😍
D is with TC on but valves open past 4K I believe
That’s a good looking suv. I like it
8.9% apr? That’s blinking brilliant Paul!
lol that’s ridiculously high….
Looks like a really cool daily driver and certainly one I could consider. To be honest this is a really cost-effective 4x4 with a ferrari engine. It's a no brainer
Its not a Ferrari engine
@@DonViToCRLNE it is. Also the product designer was the old ferrari designer.
@@race4pinkslips Gianluca Pivetti, ex Ferrari engineer was head of petrol engine developement when Alfa developed their Giorgio platform. The V6 and the I4 are completely new developed engines and Pivetti himself said this. Its the same engineer with similar and his own technical solutions but its not a Ferrari engine. Ferrari would never share anything with someone else, not their tech, not their secrets and whatever.
Welcome to quad ownership they do get under your skin. I own a Giulia quad and they are amazing cars. Enjoy it
HD Matrix LED headlights the new SQ8 and Q8 have.
Please do a review of a VW Goof
When is the new exhaust system coming paul?
Ive said already i love the colour, my brother had one for a day,the performance was frightening, a good buy id day,and only 500 pounds a month
I briefly owned one, a fantastic car. Never understood why they didn't sell in the USA. I suspect Americans are more into status than a real driving experience.
Does anyone know what the actual name, colour or product of that wrap is? It's stunning!
Great car 👍👍👍
The colour is a killer! Is it a wrap?
The Stelvio QV defies the physics of being an "SUV", as it beats most sports cars out there.
Top man Paul,
Fabulous car
Love it ❤
Genuine question. How reliable are these cars? Been a follower for a while but I've been quietly looking at these recently in the U.S because I want a performance SUV. Considering the X3 M40i too.
Love it 🇵🇹🍻
My dream car 🚗 😍
I think your smile driving that will secure Alpha Romeo a few sales bud. :)
I’m looking for one, if I can fit a tow bar to it.
I'd never, never ever, ever again give my Stelvio away for another SUV. Something that is rarely outspoken and said: The Stelvio has a 50:50 weight-distribution on both axis', weights far under 2000 kg and - the best - has a 12:1 steering ratio - even lower than racing cars like Porsche 911. And this direct steering, boosted by the 50:50 weight distribution, featured by the low weight make this SUV being driven like a Go-Kart. Trust me.
50:50 weight distribution is definetely false information provided by FCA. Stelvio QV got between 52-53:48-47, you can find those numbers by tests performed by both german, italian and american magazines.
So better distribution than a GLC 63 or macan GTS but worse than X3M and f-pace SVR.
As for the total weight, yes, that's a lot lower than the competitors.
Oh wow, i didn't know that but nonetheless still a great car :) @@karlk.6819
mate what is the year of the car ?
So does it have a Ferrari derivet engine or not?
Thats a perfect car, Alfa is perfection
Alfaromeo the best
I love my Stelvio QV! Only negative thimg is too many cops around to let me fully enjoy it 😢
It is the perfect combination of power and practicality considering its decent economy. Im my opinion anything above 550hp is just unnecessary considering the economy will be terrible. Also love how the valves aren’t open all the time so you can enjoy a quiet ride with the wife (though i do wish valves open in Dynamic). And the exhaust sounds perfect. I wouldnt mod anything on this car
About the giulia exhaust issue, u can get a mod to allow u to open the valves independently from the mode you are in, so full valves open in dynamic mode
Don't know if u can get it for the stelvio
Try reading the Owners Manual.
I really like these but reliability would worry me. I had a neighbour with one and i saw it being worked on or replaced with a loan car several times because it had issues...
Buy a BMW and its not much better😅
@@DonViToCRLNEat least BMW has enough service centers
@@cbarber5366 still nobody would buy it who wants a real reliable car.
Alfa is more reliable than Ford and Nissan, this Stelvio Quad is the Nissan GT-R of SUVs
Alfa Romeo, making Alfa Lovers 🤌❤️
Like the car: don’t like any wraps. I know it must be necessary to monetise the car as it is your job.
I saw on the Alfa Romeo South Africa website there are, like you said, two Quadrifoglio models: this Stelvio, obviously named after the Italian Alpine Pass and the more sports car looking Giulia.
Didn’t realise Giulia was RWD only and this SUV AWD.
Didn’t know it had a Ferrari engine either:
Like the Maserati that had the Ferrari bi-turbo V8 from the very good and well priced Portofino spyder and Roma saloon.
It doesnt have a Ferrari engine.
"Cough 605BHp cough" Whispers " Celtictuning Chip Tune Extra 100bhp for £500-£600 you know you want to"
Looks like a really nice car! My car is still a better looking green though, olivine green 308 GT :D
Whereas the giulia QV looks kinda weird and is so dinamically overrated (honestly an old caddy ATS-V is more engaging to drive) the stelvio QV a is very interesting little (ok we europeans call it "midsize" but honestly, it's more a compact) suv, doesn't weight too much (and a good 52/48 weight distribution indeed) compared to the competition and drives better than the average X3M or GLC 63 S.
F-pace svr is cool also, but porky.
I'm actually cross shopping an used 991.2 4S with a stelvio QV!
You should have gone for the facelift model. As a long time Italian cars owner, you never buy first production Italian cars, only facelifted ones. They remove all problems in facelift models and they are much better and more reliable. Hope you car doesn't give you any problems but next time follow my advice I promise you won't regret it.
I feel Alpa romeos are making a comeback.
The dna drive system means this
D is dynamic mode
N is normal mode
A is all weather or wet mode
Hope this helps
A is Advanced Efficiency aka Eco Mode
or the difference between 19-21mpg @@Federico_Maccio
That does nothing in real life.@@Federico_Maccio
Excellent two car garage! But ouch paying 9% interest on 42k loan yikes.
Dark tint wrap on the headlights would also look awesome….
I loved my Stelvio but it should have come with a warning, don't go through a pressure car wash and don't drive on wet roads. Spent weeks upon weeks being badly repaired (wiring ) only to go back in every time I drove through a puddle. it was the best driving car I have owned but also the biggest nightmare
Keep the reliability jokes going so the enthusiasts that do their research can afford them easier.
Only 9% finance…
It's not the refresh then..
