How long can a McDonald's paper cup hold liquid? - 4K Time Lapse
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 5. 08. 2020
- Bear in mind, this video is not a statement against McDonald's. Obviously, they have to coat their cups with a thin plastic film otherwise the drink would soak through in minutes if not seconds. Not only McDonald's, but almost all paper cup has a plastic film in them. It's about the proportions, and most part of the cup is made of paper, which is an environmentally friendly material.
McDonald's pays close attention to the climate, and they work hard to build a more sustainable food industry, which includes lowering the emission of greenhouse gases, developing and using sustainable packaging and dealing with its recycling, lowering the agriculture's impact on the planet, conserving our forests, and making one of their top priorities to use the planet's water resources responsibly. If anything, McDonald's should be the role model of many other restaurants.
I believe this needed to be said because I don't want people to misinterpret this time-lapse.
Now about the video itself:
Have you ever wondered how long could McDonald's paper cup hold your drink? Me too...
Watch this McDonald's paper cup time-lapse video to find out.
For this project, I captured more than 124 000 photos. I had to use a very frequent interval otherwise I would have missed the interesting moment when the cup finally broke down.
They were orange juice, Pepsi, and water. I removed the water so early because nothing interesting happened to it, it just evaporated slowly, and by removing that cup I had more space on the screen for the 2 remaining ones. And I removed the Pepsi as well for the very same reason, so I could get closer to the orange juice cup which started to look the worst. I topped it up with water from time to time because it would have evaporated many times over, and the main goal was to "break" the cup.
I thought it would be done in a couple of days. What do you think, are you surprised? Let me know in the comments below ;) đđ€ Be sure to share this video with a friend too! Thanks for watching!

The dedication to hold a camera for over 200 days is mind Blowing
waiting for the r/woosh
Nah, what really happened is he had some sort of technology that can record, Iâm guessing a phone or camera and set it up, not sure if he ever moved the camera or phone because he could of just turned it on and took a picture or went to the camera app and took a picture there. Or did move the phone/camera but kept putting it back. But yeah, he didnât hold the camera for that long, he would need to eat, drink, sleep, extra, and unless he is an alien there is no way in hell he would be able to not move for almost a year. Plus, there are just 200 pictures, he probably didnât just stand there and take pictures, he took pictures when he thought about it. But yes it is certainly mind blowing that he was able to remember such a thing. Maybe Iâm the dumb one but Iâm pointing fingers and you Jude because thatâs scientifically impossible. But he could have paid or gotten multiple people to stand there for him and switch out like a job, so maybe you are right...but he would have to be pretty loaded to afford that so, not sure Jude.

I work as a lab technician for a company that makes food and beverage containers. Paper cups have a layer of plastic coating them to keep liquids from soaking through the paper. Work is being done to find a biodegradable replacement for that plastic coating! Hope this clears it up for some folks.
Started out interesting but took a dark turn very quickly when the mould took over. Props for allowing that biohazard to exist for close to a year in your studio/garage/mad scientists lab/whatever.
Mad scientist lab-
Lol
mold* not mould
@@Legendary_Starlight both spellings are correct. mould is the british spelling.
@@Legendary_Starlight Imagine going out of your way to correct someone's spelling on a CZcams video, not only that but then doesn't understand that english has several dialects...
Omg same pfp
Yeah, watching this while eating isn't the best idea I've ever come with
Lmao same
I made it right up to the point he started dripping it out the spoon. Had to stop eating for a moment there.
@@funkehfunkeh i finished the entire video and when I saw your comment... I finally realized. The food didn't taste that good anymore qwq

Really appreciate the effort that you consistently record time lapse every day.
Amazing

The growth and evolution of that mold in the OJ was really fun to watch. Then all the gnats showed up for a bit. Never thought watching a cup melt would be so varied and thrilling
the orange juice got an entire ecosystem in just a few days
Fo some reason this comment got me dead
The mold was just chillin yo
@@WEllisMusic OJ ? đđđđđ was fun to watch
It was so interesting to see all those gnats show up. The first thing I thought when I saw them is okay how long until even gnats wonât touch something rotten?
Water cup saw mold growing and was like "nope! I'm out."
You should do a time lapse of a caterpillar to butterfly. That would be very cool đ
How nice of him, recording for 231 days without sleeping.

Omg ikr he TOTALLY doesnât have an automatic camera or anything-
Ikr??
Its a lapse timer so he sleeps but lets it record while he sleeps
@@rosehougbedji1153 wooosh
I like to imagine this guy has a massive warehouse with like 500 time lapse projects going on at once
Edit: 13k likes đ„ČAlso, Iâm curious to know where he actually does these things lol. If he does it in his house heâs a mad lad
In his shed probably
