@@rustyoldchevy1149 They're getting scarce, especially when they're in as good condition as the one you snagged. Do the maintenance, and I wouldn't be surprised if you get 500K or more miles out of it. It's not a race car and you won't get more than 22 mpg, but it will get you where you're going for a long time.
Have owned 4 240 VOLVOS plus V70, 850 and I prefer the 244 DL 1989 I still own...your video is incredible...scenery/greenery is beautiful compared to the Motherlode area of Northern California (very severe drought); keep sharing!
As a kid in West Virginia, we didn’t have a lot of high dollar foreign made vehicles, so these old Volvos were like Bentleys in our minds, my first job was detailing vehicles at a very small Richardson Volvo Toyota Datsun Fiat Dealership and the Volvos just had a different smell and feel to them, all I got to do was wheel em around the lot, but for a 15 year old it was a dream job. I’m not sure it’s true but the dealership owner was a card player and I heard he lost the dealership in a card game.
We seem to have a lot in common! I have a number of Volvo 240s in the wagon version (245). As well, I've owned a '49 Nash and currently have a '55 Nash-Rambler. Turns out, I live not far from you in Broward County. What a fantastic channel!!! So glad I found it. I enjoy everything you produce and appreciate your time and wisdom! Thank you!
R O C : dude awesome intro. From a 240 driver in L.A. We have a black one . 1993 - 158 k miles. Thinking of selling to buy a truck or El camino. Cheers mate.!
Got recommended this video because of all the Volvo stuff I watch, and my first thought was "that looks like central Florida". You're near Lakeland it looks like?
Actually i recently sold it. It was a well built car, but my love for old cars keeps me buying and selling them a lot! The only thing I didnt like was how the cars use 2 fuel pumps, and new parts dont seem to be as good as the originals!
@@rustyoldchevy1149 My '90 740 has just the one pump, which is in the tank. I replaced it for the first time 2 years ago at 440k kilometers. As far as the quality of new parts I purchase genuine Volvo parts whenever possible and haven't noticed any deterioration in those. I can't speak for the quality of aftermarket parts.
Awesome video. As a swede I feel very proud of this masterpiece of a car. Still see them everywhere here!
Thats great! Sadly, I don't see these cars around much, but I think they will become more and more appreciated as time continues.
I’m afraid a lot of good cars from this era went into the crusher thanks to Obama’s “Cash for Clunkers” program.

Awesome 240, it is awesome compared to today*s recycled cars 🚗 😀 👍

Glad you enjoyed it!
A knowledgeable mechanic once told me, your cars engine is super well built and runs for ever.
They have a great reputation for being over-engineered!
It is the resonance of this red block in the 240 format!
Not the sound; but the actual vibration it makes.
I love this vibe!

It does have a very distinct smell inside, it even smells like a European car!

Thank you! I wish I could save all the strange cars, if youtube videos earn money, maybe I can!
240 For Life! 🇸🇪
Don't you mean DL.
Bought my red '85 in May 1990, with just over 100,000 miles on it. Only car I've driven all that time.
Good looking car! Had an 85 240 DL as well as a bunch of other years and have to say that this wasn’t their best year. 😢
Thanks! Its been doing well since I fixed the fuel issues, so I hope for the best!
What years are generally the best?
@@mkshffr4936 1988 all the way to 1993 i believe

Thanks! 80's trucks are very popular now, you might consider one of those?
This can become a taxi cab, FBI car, and police car.
Ahhh it's my Volvo...same year and color
It really is a great color for these cars!
The last real Volvo with the possible exception of the 740.
And 940, too.
That’s a real tidy lookin’ car
Thanks! Not bad for an almost 40 year old car!
Love da volvo
100,000 high mileage badge. Hahahaha! Anything under 300K isn't even broken in yet.
Thats what I hear! It would take me a lifetime to reach that mileage.
I just lost my S70 to Ian in cape coral. Maybe she'll dry out , who knows.
I hope you can save it!
surprised no comments about the ac that is inadequate

That's a good guess! Thanks for watching!
West of Lakeland
My mama had the same car same color same year
Cool! Best looking color in my opinion!
Do you still own it and is it still "reliable"? Thanks.

@@patriciastotler8911 What about it?
Now if you had a Javelin......
Just saying
I would trade it for a jeep
Not reliable and chick's like camaros
Probably more reliable than a chick that likes Camaro,s!
You may be right about that
