  • A first responder, Josh Magaha of the Kansas City, KS Fire Department shares some of his experiences related to illicit fentanyl and talks of his efforts to raise awareness in area schools. Illicit fentanyl is a dangerous, life-threatening drug frequently found in other illicit drugs and results in the death of 200 people per day in the US. This is just one of those stories and delivers an urgent warning to avoid all illicit drugs.

    He said, "one of the hardest things to do is get into the schools". I am truly baffled by that. Why wouldn't every school in America not actively welcome this education into their schools? Why wouldn't the U.S. Dept of Education mandate and sponsor this everywhere?

      It 's a state issue. You don't have to look any further than what's going on with the education system in Florida to know that.

    I think every school should do these presentations on fentanyl and other drugs. This is indeed an epidemic and it’s killing so many of our kids. I lost my oldest son to fentanyl, I would love to learn how to bring awareness to our kids in the schools.

    Texas Pictures, I hope you'll pass along our thanks and endless gratitude for this guy and what he does each and every day. If he is ever in need, just say the word, and I will do everything and anything I can to return the favor for him. The debt we owe him, and all our first responders and educators, is so huge we can never repay it, but I sure will try.

    I had a discussion with a 15 yr old girl the other day, a friends daughter. She is home schooled and we all live in Tasmania Australia, which doesn’t have the fentanyl problem you guys have (yet).
    I told her about fentanyl and 1 pill can kill etc. because even though she lives a safe sheltered life now one never knows about down the track. Her parents thanked me, oh yer I educated them as well 😊

    A lot of states offer free fentanyl test strips as part of harm reduction. Great video. Thank you

    • @jelah4972
      @jelah4972 Před 2 měsíci

      Sadly, the test strips don’t work due to the chocolate chip effect( pretty much meaning that because it’s manufactured illegally that one portion of the pill could contain majority of the fentanyl, just like when you bake chocolate chip cookies. The chocolate chips aren’t spread evenly. So depending on what part you’re testing, it could not be accurate.)
      When pills are created in a pharmaceutical laboratory, they have centrifuge machinery that evenly distributes the narcotic throughout the pill. These thugs manufacturing fake pills are literally stirring fentanyl in a giant trashcan with a stick typically.
      The only true way to test a drug for fentanyl via strips is to ruin the drug in the process by crushing it and dissolving it in water. Most addicts and even people won’t do that. I always tell my son that splitting a pill in half or taking a little chunk does not protect you. You could be getting 90% of the illicit substance in that tiny chunk.

    God bless this guy and his efforts... may other first responders pick up this torch too. Speaking of the parents: I firmly believe that because so many of us that partied in the 80s and 90s before Fentanyl was "a thing" just don't realize it is in EVERYTHING including weed. They remember when they were young and experimented with drugs but you just CAN NOT do that now but they can't wrap their head around it. And we all know that kids think they are invincible and bullet proof until they are mid to late 20s or older. Why is this not all over the media and a part of our government required education??? We can do better. Thank you TX Pictures for what you do.

Some were addicts but one smoked a laced joint and one took an adderal from a friend that was laced. I’m in my forties and can’t stand what this drug is doing to our people. It’s everywhere and if people don’t think it’s affected them they just aren’t aware of the truth. I am only
    Aware of these friends cause bc I was close to the families. Most people believe they died from heart attacks. I think we all know more than one person who has it will overdose on this drug. It’s so scary

    We need a guy like him in every school that presents every year or more. We also need health classes to spend at least a week talking about where fentanyl comes from, how and why you get addicted, what happens to your “free will” after it gets a hold. They need to be shown that it is not a choice after you try it and it takes hold. Lost my son in 2018 from fentanyl. He was an engineering student and an Eagle Scout. He had many friends but wrong choices led him down a dark path. You don’t know what your kids are doing once they are not in your sight. He was right
