- Driftworks Rich Starkey does a walk around this close to complete Porsche Cayman LS3 V8 engine conversion and talks to Dyno Torque's genius Craig about all of the technical details.
We've had loads of requests for more Craig Taylor & the projects he takes on at Dyno Torque. Let us know if you'd like to see more of these Raw unedited walk arounds of the stuff he builds.
Follow Craig on IG @dynotorque
His usually very out of date website is www.dynotorque.co.uk/ - Auta a dopravní prostředky
He talks about it like he's just knocked up a quick ham and cheese sandwich. Incredible build. Fair play Craig
Haha, I think he’s done over 50 conversions now, so it’s not far off.
🤣👌🏻
Lol 😂✌🏽
Bet it gets hot in that cabin
This bloke really doesn't give himself enough credit. That's amazing
He's an old-school Brummie. Generally very modest, and often considered the friendliest people in the UK. That doesn't mean he doesn't think he's more than competent. He just believes, if he can do it, there are probably (rather than possibly) others doing it or capable of doing it, too. He seems to just want customers to give him the time to do the job properly and get everything right rather than push him time-wise and he's happy, even if he doesn't end up getting full compensation for all the hours he puts in. He clearly loves what he does and doing it right. But he's done so many conversions that he also clearly beieves that pretty much everything is possible and problems exist for solutions to be found. It is amazing.
Porsche 2019: we are never going to put an engine bigger than 4 cyl in the Boxster again.
Craig: hold my bradwurst
Jor Cap it’s a cayman not a boxster
@@Granturisman But more importantly, it's Bratwurst not Bradwurst. ;)

Check out the new 4.0 boxster;)
Craig is amazing at what he does. Kudos mate.
If driving a Cayman puts a grin on your face then driving this Cayman would make you smile like an absolute madman. Very professional job and definitely something to be proud of
Please keep the build videos coming. I've seen quite a few LS conversions on Porches on CZcams. But this is easily the best conversion I've ever seen. Top work fellas.
Every conversion this guy does is well thought out & high quality engineering.
That garage tho… A Lamborghini, FD RX-7, an effing DeLorean…! Crazy.
Ls3 looks like it meant to be there .... Beautiful work
I wonder how many people appreciate how rare LS swaps are in the UK. Looks a serious amount of work. Rather Craig than me 😂
Adam Bainbridge fucking expensive truck motor right there 😂
I don’t need a swap. My car came with an LS in it 👍
@@ifyoudontbelong truck motor that isn't used in trucks and is lighter than the engine it replaced ;)
That is amazing!!!!! A work of art like the rest of your creations 👍🏼
Beautiful work! New to the channel, but I look forward to seeing more of these amazing builds. Everything looks so clean and so stock! Cheers!
Very professional install. Well done mate! 😁👍
The man is an artist! If I ever win the lottery I’ll be straight down to dynotorque with a long list of cars I’d want to be built by Craig
What a fantastic conversion. Disappointed there was no drive!
That sounds epic, what a build! That’ll be a great sports car for the back roads here in the UK
Nice tight fit.
And that DeLorean is flying.
Out with the Flux Capacitor, in with an LS V8!! 😉
This is absolutely brilliant! I would love to see Chris Harris drive this.
I'd love to see a video series on the process of this or pictures/descriptions of what was done because this is sweet and so clean
How come this has only just popped up on my YT feed. That is absolutely outstanding work, original airbox, and coolant reservoir still in place. Other than the bulged engine cover it's factory. AMAZING! 👌🏼
Superb work Craig, absolutely spot on!
👍 Thanks
This is one of the smartest LS swaps I have ever seen.. Good job..!!
Thanks!
Great Video.. The Topsnap Podcast digs your work..the video and the man doing the LS3 project!
Very nice work, very impressive....my new favourite channel
That garage has some gems in the works! What a treasure trove.
Looks like a nice clean swap. Great workmanship. 👍
The best cayman swap I've seen while still retaining factory
I love it, The sound is awesome. I would be temped to glass panel the engine cover... like the R8... wow
Very talented guy ! Well done Craig
Great work man!
That's one original build. Hats off
I’m super jealous. This thing is crazy cool. I love it.
great video loved hearing Craig explain things
Craig is the man. Loving the RX8 LS in the background too
You should see my old LS2 RX8 it was max effort besides the bottom end build. I have videos of it in my channel.
What a crazy mix of cars in that shop !!!
PLEASE do a proper drive video with the car. What a great combination of unparalleled Torque and HP for the $ with great handling.
incredible work, brilliant!
Thanks!
Simply genius! That car deserves an LS3!
Subscribed for this build and Craig the legend
Awesome work!
Best part is it doesn't sound like an ls. This thing is probably going to be a blast to drive.
The man is a genius 👌
Always loved these type of conversions since seeing a Porsche 924 with a Rover V8 in Car and car conversions magazine 30+ years ago. The US company that does the kits is Renegade Hybrids and although they sell it as a kit that can be done a home, watching the video's of people converting theirs it is a LOT of work, proving i'm not up to it and with insufficient funds to pay someone to do it for me.. The conversion in this video by Dyno Torque looks as good as it gets. Fantastic engineering.
Thank you 👍
This is amazing. I mean we have all seen LS swapped Miata's etc, but a mid-engine Porsche?! Definitely the coolest thing I have seen in a while. I would keep this car forever if I built this, I'm sure it would be a dream to drive especially since you kept the Porsche gearbox etc. We need to see a video of it cruising around! Edit: My father-in-law has an older 2007 Boxster S and the sound of the engine RIGHT behind you is pretty cool, this LS must sound incredible!
I have a(05) 987.1 S. Boxster. I Would love to do something like this if my engine goes..
@@UsRangerhave you reached out to renegade hybrids? They quoted me same car. Wont put the price out there but not bad. Might be better to do the swap before the engine blows cause you can sell it.
This is so cool. I wish Porsche would make a 911 with a V8. Still the rumoured Panamera V8 Coupe could be interesting in that respect.
It felt wrong having an LS in a porsche or a V8 in general but when i heard it, it's actually really nice... i kinda want one now...
It does sound great. Unlike most LS applications
More conversion details would be greatly appreciated. This swap is so nicely done!
Great job Craig I have a 928 that is going to have an engine change 6.0 GTO engine will be fun when finished cheers Frank😊
I really like this one. this could be a future project for me.
What does a conversion like this cost around?
Love this. Reminds me of the Renegade Hybrid cars but with out the need for a pesky stock ECU to pass US Emissions.
Think I need to get on Dynotorques waiting list as I bet its a long one.
Craig is a modern Einstein 🧐🧐🤓🤓 love his work
Having owned a RHD car with an LS engine (clue; it was Australian 😉), all I can say is,
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!! 😂😂👌🏼👍🏻💪🏼
Great build.
looks amazing
Fantastic!!!
Years ago a friend of mine put a small block 350 Chevy engine in a 350 SEL MB and it ran smooth as silk. the conversion wasn't as hard as I thought it would be
Wow! Amazing!
sounds amazing
Great build
Very clean set up very nice
Thanks!
Incredible work on this, it looks immaculate.
Seeing the red E46 makes me want to start saving for an ls motor for mine! Be interested to see a video on that if you have one
Thanks! We'll see if we can do a video on the red M3 next time it' in.
Beautiful mechanical masterpiece
That must have been one expensive build ! Great job!
Built right, nice work! are you able to get cruise control to work as well?
Beautifull work, as he say; its difficult to make it looking Nice, brilliant solutions
Good information
Thanks
I'm interested in knowing what is required to mate up the LS3 to the Porsche gear box. PDK in particular.
wicked bit of kit!
Please make a vid of you driving this.
👍
First the LT4 M3, and now this!! This guy is a legend! I hope he makes a kit for both!
love it!
How does the ac work - do you use a GM compressor or Porsche compressor etc.?
Excellent work again bet that goes like stink!
Everyone doing the CZcamsr / American comparisons for dynotorque and the genius that is Craig and Colum and asking for a collab with Tavarish but I think you boys should all get together with bad obsession and project binky, I think you would truly break the internet with whatever mad build you come up with,
Even if it did take 5 years and counting
Binky is such a brilliant build.
Two brands meet for all of the correct reasons! LS engines are marvels of less is more compared to the very complex Porsche engines! I know I own both!
Very cool.
Really nice
Very impressive.
You can LS swap anything! Awesome!
Great insight. Dyno run next time!
Would be great to see a review type video when it’s finished.
How much did moving the firewall affect the seating position? I have a cayman as well and really interested in the swap but have heard the same issue about axles wearing out fast and breaking with the "kit" they sell. Would love to see some underside shots
That's one I wondered about when I watched this video. I'll see if I can ask Craig today about it.
Glorious. Take that new Cayman with a turbo 4
Very good
Love that
Just nuts. I bet that thing is a hoot to drive!
I wonder 🤔
Does it have cooling issues
Awesome 😎
remarkable!
👍
Sick
wow! genius!
LSx conversions are GREAT! No one builds better trouble free and maintenance cheep engines then GM. I have a 89 944S2 with a LS3 and I can drive it anyware and not worry about not making it home. I also smoke allot of so called supercars in straight line and when it comes to curvy roads just forget it I'm gone. I've got a buddy that has 1st generation Lotus Turbo Espit with a LS conversion and it just marvellous car. LS is the way to go if you drive a car with unreliable engines.
That 944 isn't the red one I saw on CZcams (ordinary or everyday car reviews or something?) the other day is it?
The center of gravity is now a little higher but I’m sure it will still handle good. The snap oversteer has now been elevated, I hope it’s easy to catch.
True artist
👍
A test drive video would be great 👍🏻
LOVE!
I had to stop watching as I felt sea sick. Looks like an awesome build.
Very cool! Maybe I missed it, but what transmission is this using? Still have a Tremec?
Yep, stock with an adapter plate.
