  • It’s no secret we here at Yoseka love our planners! Whether it’s Hobonichi, MD, TRAVELER’S or another brand, every planner company makes multiple planners in various formats and there are many options to choose from. In this video, we’ll go over some of the different variables to consider when choosing a planner and mostly, we’ll be going over the main planner formats, what each is best for and we’ll recommend the best planners for each format. This video all started with YOSEKALAB, Amy’s and Bethany’s planner sampler project which is a great option for you if you are still undecided after this video and want to just try them all out for yourself :)

Glad you went over the wide array of planners during planner season time. Had I lived in NYC, you would see me there often, lol. In its place, it gave me inspiration to make my own custom planner that I will adopt to my TN & Hobonichi Techo. Wish me luck.

Excellent overview! Love how you started out with the key questions: thinking about purpose and style of planning. I think one of the many reasons why folks love the planners from Hobonichi or Kokuyo Jibun is because they combine one or more of these formats in different sections (ex. monthly grid + daily pages). Then the decision making comes down to factors like paper and size for portability (or not). Daisy, I agree with you about the Hobonichi A6 Techo Planner, for me it's a perfect fit. ✍️

This was really helpful. Thanks Daisy! I'm still hardcore horizontal memo w/monthly's. Tried vertical but it really doesn't work for me. I do use regular horizontal for some things but for my catch all EDC definitely horizontal memo

This was such a good video! Very informative and clearly laid out. I will reference it in the future.
Now I kinda feel like one of the planners I bought for 2024 may not work for me. 🤔

❤❤❤ I cannot wait to visit your store!
I used one wall calendar last year. After watching all your planner videos, I now have 5 and still want more.

This was so insightful. The Bullet Journal of course is a perfect mix of everything because you can pick and choose what you need and try out new layouts whenever you like. The original method offers ideas to what works best within the method (a mix of planning and journaling) but even within the original method there is definitely a lot of space to make it your own.
Bullet Journaling brought all my journal needs together but I still LOVE to look at the other formats out there so thank you so much for this video.
I’m going to try some new things in my BuJo.

I have tried various different planners (Pal, Weeks, Jibun Techo Days, Jibun Techo regular, English A6 Hobonichi planner, Scribbles that matter a5, bullet journal, happy planner) I have come to realize that I need two planners (one for work and projects, one for journaling/everything else). After trying all these planners I realize that I need one that has a weekly format (all other formats are secondary), it needs to be A6 or weeks in size (easy to carry), has to be fountain pen friendly. It needs to be dated (cause I don't like making my own spreads), has to be somewhat pleasing to look at. Planner season has been so overwhelming to me and I still having some trouble deciding on my second planner (I have chosen the common planner in a6 size for my work/projects). An now I am trying to decide what to do with my personal planner, I have three choices one is actually Yoseka Lab two month planner and just using that until I can decide, or I was going to try Wonderland 222, or Hobnonchi Original A6 English. Anyways I love the video and it is just what I needed.

Daisy! This was so helpful! This years planner season really overwhelmed me at some point. Wanted to go with Sterling Ink booklets but I’m undecided since it uses bible paper and I already have my hobonichi set up for next year.

I am branching out from Hobonichi this year, and if it doesn’t work I will just go back to the Jibun techo vertical weeks and a B6 notebook, be it the JT Idea book, or another B6.

Loved the review of the different style formats! Question about the Techo Day-Free A5 and A6: do they have different coloured sections like the Cousin or Plain Notebook, or are the grids on all the pages the same colour (i.e. greyish/purple), like the ones on the A5 and A6 Memo Pads please?

It would be very helpful to use planners where the lines are more visible on camera. I had a very difficult time following your recommendations because the lines were not visible and the camera was too zoomed out.
