- "To this date, I haven't broken a PARADIGM string yet. They hold up." Slash and his longtime guitar tech, Adam Day, recently sat down with us to talk about how Ernie Ball PARADIGM strings have impacted his history of breaking guitar strings without affecting his feel and signature tone.
Ernie Ball PARADIGM guitar strings are the latest innovation from the world's premiere maker of guitar strings since 1962. PARADIGM delivers superior strength, unparalleled durability and the legendary Ernie Ball tone we're known for, guaranteed.
Available in electric and acoustic in our most popular gauges.

everyone else: *beats the shit out of their guitars*
slash: *makes borderline motivational speech*
it's funny how instead of actually testing like in the other ads they basically just did a string theory
Came here to see Slash trying to break Paradigm strings. I was disappointed.
I was expecting the same you were my friend, and I am as disappointed as you are. (weeps)
Jesús Armas i know that feel bro
Alex Ramyeon: fucking clickbaiters 😐🙄
Alex Ramyeon You know why😂😂😂
The already shot the Video nur Slash was the only guitarist who broke on so they shot that video 😂😂
I wanted to see Slash bend the sh*t out of those strings xD
Nice to know Saul Goodman is doing good as Slash’s guitar tech
Slash's name is Saul Hudson lol
Slash just broke a string at Rock in Rio a few days ago LOL
Xd
Ernie needs bigger balls then 👍🏻
It happens. Should be rare though.
Hey stop it
So these Paradigm strings aren’t break resistant? Time to go back to the drawing board Ernie Ball and remove this false branding..LMFAO
Subtitles killed me on this one lmao.
"I started using her knee balls"
I’ve actually never broken a paradigm string. I always go back to these
Slash: 'To this date, I haven't broken a PARADIGM string yet.'
Also Slash: has his tech replace his strings every night
but they weren't broken though.. just have to replace them every so often
I mean he’s not lying
every few songs
Nerd: You don’t play guitar in a band. Same goes for every other nerd that likes your comment.
He broke a string yesterday at Rock in Rio so...
....so you don't listen worth a fuck.

Well I guess I suck. I've broken 2 paradigm strings. Rip!
Picture Perfect damn
you can get a refund
Me too.......and I did not play that hard!!!
Plug in and go no lmao good point!
Martin Haglund same. I'm very gentle with my bending.
Love how the tech just cuts all the strings at the same time on what is probably a very, very valuable guitar. Very compelling evidence that doing so does not, in fact, warp the neck or damage the instrument in any way - as is so often claimed.
Jake Conway no guitar has that issue unless it's like a broken neck
It's not and I never said it was. Read and comprehend, newb. I've changed strings for decades and know that even not detuning at all, just cutting them as they are, wont damage a well-made guitar.
Jahbulon Smith I wouldn't do that on a guitar with a floating trem though. Gibson type bridge its probably fine.
He detunes and loosen the strings first of course. :)
Jahbulon Smith
Stop being an ass, the first commenter didn't disagree with you in anyway
Adam Day is such a cool guitar technician
he also worked for Neal Schon of Journey
William Allison he seems gay as fuk
He also worked for Angus Young for one year and he also toured with Y&T.
This is the shot every player and gnr, afd fan wants to see 2:46 what a beast, what a beauty.
String theory. String theory. STRING THEORY.
Austin Middleton Yes it's a string theory hahahaha
Finally but we still need to get Steve vai and/or Herman Li before I actually believe these are unbreakable
Actually, Herman Li claimed in many interviews to almost never break any strings
Nope
It don't break but it rusts. 😠😠 Mind did within 1 month
Herman Li broke a string at the end of the recording session on through the fire and the flames and he's said countless times that he's tried to get the break live so it sounds closer to the album but he's never been able to do it.
+Debangshu Paul wash your hands pig
this man is the reason I picked up the guitar....
Yeah, same here. I still suck though 🤣
I have been playing Daddario for 18 years. Never broken one even when i used them way too long.
Crimson Ghost Daddarios are fun strings, but those break the easiest for me.
härjaren Langstrumpf What gauge do you use? I have broken strings when i was learning to set up a floyd. Never broken one while playing.
I love both Ernie balls and D’addrio. I use 10/46 for D’addrios and 9/42 for Ernie ball.
I have used Ernie ba;; before. they seem like fine strings. im just used to dadarrio.
Crimson Ghost Yeah man D’addrios are awesome. I found D’addrios to be stronger than Ernie balls.
They've been avoiding putting them to the real test,

Frederick Ironheart slash is not human

All praise Slash!
I am god... hahah.. worship me bitch...
Slash and myself ― we are both hard rock gods.
Osho says that a true artist is a part of God. God enters inside a true artist.
Right......check back when he is a coffin and see if your statement still stands...... I know where I’ll put my money
the guitar tech is right saying that Slash is a feel player.Slash "wings" guitar solos and they still sound amazing ,Slash's up there as one of the great guitar players ever
No argument here!
i hate this commercial though, ernie balls dont give you feel or musicality they are just a brand of strings thats popular and easy. and honestly i think ernies are very limiting in the sense of you sticking to a brand that works and not trying other strings that you may like way more.
Yeah dude…no shit
I think it's a bit easier to not break strings when each guitar gets a new set every night ;)
I'm interested. I break strings like crazy playing live
This video has a "Bonus"!
How to proper restring your guitar...at 0:48!
amen to that. i’ve been restringing that way for years and it’s worked just fine
Unskilled Slash Could you explain how to do that it’s not very clear in the video. However what I do is basically align the tuning peg hole vertical so the string goes straight through go towards the Gibson logo with the string then go underneath and the pull it back the way it came by almost folding it over then tighten the tuning peg.
Love the soft dramatic music in the background
"Till this day i have never broken a paradigm string," every concert he bresks at least one string,, i love you slash 😂😂😂😂
They are out of them everywhere i have looked recently ..
WAYNE HARROD guitar center pretty sure they have it there
greatest hard rock guitarist of all time. both rhythm and lead
User Delusion 100%
Debatable
I can play pentatonic scales. Am i the 2nd greatest?
User Delusion Definatly debatable
your kidding right? Pentatonic scales is the most used ones smartass.it simple but it depends on how you use it. Hendrix,Page,SRV,Clapton,Gilmour,Rhoads, etc
What's interesting to me is how in this video his tech who says he's been with him since 88 is a different tech than all of the slash rig rundown videos.
ZACK COFFMAN he had 2 different techs during the SMKC stuff. But Adam Day (the guy in this video) was with him since 88 with GNR and did Snakepit and Velvet Revolver with him as well.
I've broken my paradigm 10 - 46s but I will still use them because they last a lot longer and sound killer
Cool seeing a guitar tech getting some attention.
I broke a paradigm string the first day that I had them... tried to contact them about the “break a string, get another set” deal, never heard back from them.... I have never broken a Daddario NYXL string and my playing is super aggressive.
Not sure why his tech said super slinky. I've watched a ton of skash videos including one on restringing his LP and each time he's got 11s on there. The fact that slash can bend the 11s like he does amazes me.
Comprei essas cordas, que prometem pelo menos 90 dias de durabilidade sem corrosão, toquei 2 dias e as cordas já ficaram pretas. E aí ERNIE BALL?!?!?!?!
Fake ernie ball kkk
Come to Philippines Paradigm!
WE WANT A STRING THEORY FOR SLASH
as a "heavy" player also i have used ernie super slinkies & rarely break a string....regular top strings but heavy bottoms...as those are my most aggressively bent strings
I love the honesty.
I use the same string ernie ball paradigm 11 guage , feels great
Do a stronger than Angus Young
Legend
Wish theyd make 10.5 paradigms
you guys should make the coated version (as good as elixirs coating) of this string for us sweaty hands player 🙏🙏
I love these strings!!
What do you think a punch from Slash feels like?
Noel Adams like a strong girl
weak, weak af. heroin, coke, meth you name it, that stuff dont make you too strong..
I wish I could own this exact guitar.
Broke one in San Antonio!
Yep. I was there. End of Double Talkin Jive if I am not mistaken.
I wouldn’t say Ernie Ball arent the best strings but they have certainly taken over the market lol slinky Are like everywhere
THE BOSS!
I tried a set, corrosion started at 4th day and I broke 1st string at 8th day. This never happened to me before with regular slinkys which I've been using for more than 20 years. Regular slinkys had lasted up to 6 months with no corrosion or breaking. Funny how this strings were worst for me
They're alright. I broke em in 2 and a half weeks but I play hard. I usually break 10s in 5 to 20 days.
At the GNR concert in san antonio he broke his high E string...
Go figure. I've been using ERNIE BALL REGULAR SLINKY .010 (very rarely broke strings. mainly changed them systematically) on my JP12. Recently switched to .009 PARADIGM. Broke a high E last night at a New Year's Eve party. Barely played guitar beforehand. Hope that's just a statistical blip. Feeling a bit insecure about using .009. Never seen that happen to LUKE live. :-)
Hi there, we're sorry to hear that you had an issue with your Paradigm strings. Shoot us an email at customerexperience@ernieball.com and we'll make it right.
I put Para digm on strings on all my guitars they are the best and have never broke one
2:27 - yeah but how often do they change his strings? It's easy if you have them changed every week not to break strings.
Guys I have used EB for more than a year and then tried elixir optiweb. It costs more but lasts for 4-5 months, has a nicer touch and sounds better imo. Try it guys, but EB is OK for the money...
I can't use Ernie balls. My sweat will rust the strings in less then a week.
I'll stick to elixers. Those things last for ages.
Sherlock Holmes paradigms have a 90-day break and rust free guarantee. Break one or have rust on one in the first three months and ernie ball replces them for free.
@@VintageSlide Really? Holy shit. But you probably have to send them in, right? Like, you can't just take them into your local shop and get them replaced?
Brandon Ruggles i emailed ernie ball and they told me to go to the place i purchased from. They took care of everything. I didnt even have the receipt for my purchase or anything. Very easy and very nice.
@@ruggie.74 you are only allowed one per year though, or one mer email :), or if its in the shop theyll let you
@@VintageSlide Yeah but Elixirs last like 6 months easily even with hours of playing a day soooooo.
Slash snapped a string during Double Talkin' Jive 1st night in London. Were those Paradigm I wonder?
Freking amazing
He broke string playing double talking jive in auckland last year,. He played on
i saw a video of him on his 2023 tour with GNR n broke a string on stage LOL
Where's steve vai?
I mean who Remembers that Crazy Train solo, his tech must have been drunk
Still using Power Slinky and they work just fine. I break anything else way too easily.
awesome promo djents
Tech took off all the strings before putting new ones on.... I don't have a tech, but I change my strings one by one, to keep the tension.... :-)
Viking Guitarist it's not a tremolo bridge, therefore it's not necessary to keep the tension
Viking Guitarist ....same here bro.....1 at a time to not f$!k with the neck tension.....read most of the comments & you and i are the only ones !!
take care & rock on 👍👍
@@6teen167 both delusional i see, no they dont do anything. infact its probaly good for the neck as tension eventually destroys.
It's my dream or kinda, to use a slinky but still I can't buy 'em and now this Paradigm, still can't get them. :/
Nice "Gibson" 😂
I do not understand the quote marks.
Glasus Wasserus Look up "ghost built giutars."
+Karl Austin That's an interesting bit of trivia. I mean, not that it particularly matters since the playing on that album is iconic, but interesting nonetheless!
Karl. It was handmade, that instantly makes it better than a Gibson. And now the guy that specialised in making them is dead so it will be worth a fortune.
Is this the copy though? Or is it a real Gibson? I don't think he takes the original copy on the road anymore.
He has broken strings SINCE the Japanese leg btw so if he is using these they do break. Coma at Slane Ireland for instance, think it was his 3rd or 4th that went.
What about Ace?
Darth Green I know right ace was a cool dude. But if that's his original tech from 88 that's frigging awesome.
I thought ace was his guitar tech too
same here... maybe Ace is his guitar tech on solo records/tours... IDK
Adam has been Slash´s Guitar Tech since 1988 until 2008 then he went to work with Journey. Then for a couple years had Another Tech called Chet Haun (2008-2011), then Jim Survis, who was once guitar tech for Joe Perry, then Ace and then Doug Redler, who, s been a tech for the Black Crowes. When the Guns Reunion was about to happen the obvious Choice was Adam as he was part of the original crew along with McBob (Duff´s Bass Tech) both of them have been with the band since ´88 and Adam Knows Slash´s very well over the years and knows exactly what Slash wants to sound like.
I like you slash
So I heard slash broke a string during rock in rio...😂
The first time i used Ernie Ball strings was before a gig we had at my school. The strings were great once they got set up, but i had to give the guitar to another guy and after he played the strings were dead. Very dissapointing. Since i dont change strings too often (usually when they break) it wasnt long before i had to change em again.
When he said Balls and started laughing, LOL
Ive only ever used GHS
I prefer Daddarios. Ernie Ball strings kept breaking on me, other ones is much less but I think it might be me manhandling the strings. I still prefer the sound and feel of Daddarios over Ernie Ball.
Which daddarios were you using
I used to live and die by nyxls but found live they broke every second gig
Went back to using Ernie balls cause my local store didn't have any 12 gauge daddrios so bought Ernie balls and haven't broke a string live since
Daddrios just seem better for playing in your room to be dont hold up in the chaos of live
I've never broken one but the rust so fast if you don't constantly clean them
I break ernie ball strings just by looking at the pack behind the counter. Ive been using Dean Markley Blue Steel since 2007 and havent broken a string since
Use D'addario 11-49. No more problems.
Who snips the string before stretching it?! I guess when they're free it doesn't matter. Dude still rocks.
I put a pack of super slinky’s on 8 months ago I have not changed my strings since
I have broken a high E string twice and a D string in the course of about 6 months or so lol
I guess the cheap strings are good as well, the main difference may be how long they last.
they both are shit
Bought 10 sets of them. Broke 2 sets string stretching for my Schecter and for my Jackson, doing nothing differently than I do with a cheap set of Dunlops. Unbreakable? I think not.
Ok so I’ve bought Ernie Ball classic rock and roll, super slinky and paradigm, and Diaddrio they all last no longer than two weeks I’m told they last 2-3 months what’s going on here?
Sorry @ernieball, I really hate to burst your bubble, but im on my third set of paradigms, a gig broke the high e string twice, they corrode quite easily, the strength and durability claims you are making really arent ringing true, they go grey pretty quickly the strings, i had sets of em on my strat and sg and they havent lasted more than a week or two corrosion wise, elixir 10 gague sets seem to last and sound better longer, ive spoken to 20+ people about paradigms and everyones having the same problems, is there plans to address this? as its a serious concern of many users now and causing major problems, the amount they cost (18GBP) is ridiculous for what you get, theyre not as good as you say, can you please either provide what you plan to do to address this or at least provide details of what coating etc you are using on the strings as these are not lasting in any way shape or form, the only reason i decided to try a few sets was to see if i twas a bad batch but no, all bad, im willing to try again soon if you are correcting any issues as i do love the slinky tone (i use them exclusively in studio) but having to rely on elixir at the moment live due to the paradigm strings corroding far too quickly
Sean Redmond Elixr Nanoweb 10 gauge! Never broken one, last up to 3 months before even a hint of dirt shows, and feel great
I have tried paradigms on all my guitars, i have an RG350MZ (retrofitted with an edge pro tremolo), a g400 SG, an 83 jv HH strat, and all the paradigms have always corroded , all the ernie ball strings last about as long as daddario xl110 strings, HOWEVER , if i use elixirs, i can usually do an entire leg of gigs on one set, and thats kickin the shit out of the strings on it, changing tunings up n down here and there, ernie ball need to seriously look into their paradigm strings, im sure they were great but all these "stronger than" videos are total bullshit, the artists arent exactly being harsh at all, im far harsher on one of my bands songs on my ibanez, and the paradigms went twang on gig 1, elixirs have never broken on me ever, paradigms have, says it all, im willing to speak with someone at ernie ball to work on this if they want to speak to me about it all etc as a lot of people are having this issue so they cant hide from it forever and i will go more public about it as you cant charge 5 pounds (in britain) more than a set of elixirs for a string that (albeit sound great) really dont hold up at all against elixirs in any way, even the m steel sets are superior.
Regardless of the rant im willing to speak to someone at ernie ball to help resolve this matter as its a bit ridiculous the claims they are making, and not ringing true
Super Slinkys are worse for me.
The point im making is that the paradigms are not considered fit for purpose and they have plenty of ways to contact me, youtube PM, email etc, already had email talks with them in the past so they have plenty of ways to contact me, im more than willing to talk with them about it
Hi Sean, sorry to hear you're having issues. Email us the details at paradigm@ernieball.com and we'll take a look. Thanks for reaching out!
just hand them over to Zakk wylde and ull see
LOL
You are right af
I wanna tune down to drop g#. Which strings should i use?
Who the fuck plays in drop g#
Drop tuning is so ass
drop c is enough for me how tf do you expect to get there? just get a 6string bass.
I Broke 2 Strings in One Year and after playing 3 shows with the same Strings. I Love them, but they're not unbreakable
do one with steve vai
Gibson Les Paul's are awesome, but without locking tuners it is difficult to keep in tune. I don't understand with Slash's bends how it returns to tune
He probably had locking tuners
CZcams subtitles thought he said “I really started to use her knee balls...”.
Billy Gibbons strings have been the best for me. No need for a bullshit commercial either..lol
THats good. Cobalts are shit, Titaniums dont break unless you're setting up (wind/unwind many times. THey're also reinforced. Slash usually uses RPS powers).
Cobalts are garbage that break far too easily. Keen to try Paradigm but for like $28/set, I'll stick with titanium powers and plain 12's.
Legal, vocês viram o show no rock in rio ? Algo quebrou
Try D,Addario as they are the best made strings period!
Is it true that these strings don't break easy or its a joke? because all guitar strings use a steel core wire so what is the difference between the Paradigm steel core wire they are using to make it strong or they are using less nickel and a thicker steel core wire?
I've broken so many .10 gauge paradigms ;(
do i need a special tool to cut the strings ?
i tought ACE was slash his guitar guy
Wout I know right?
Adam Day is the original Slash's guitar tech since his old days with GN'R (and he's considered one of the best techs out there)... Adam then worked for a while with Angus Young, then for a whole tour with Neal Schon. Ace worked with Slash for a pair legs of the tour with Conspirators. Adam is and still the deal.
the real deal. he knows exactly the Slash tone from the GNR days.
