Half of these busses aren't public busses, they're chartered busses.
So they have no consistent stops. They go where the group that is chartering the bus wants to go
I was going to say that. Like all the times, it just stopped at the krusty krab and stops for spongebob and Patrick for jellyfishing. You have to start realizing that they don't have a true schedule or there's more busses that we don't know about that are for certain routes.
Yeah it seems to stop at different times depending on where certain fish want to go too
People might not believe me this but this week I had a Rock Bottom Bus moment. Was waiting for the bus with other people and when it arrived it stopped way behind me so I had to walk a few meters. And usually they wait some time to make sure everyone made it before driving away but this time it immediately drove away the moment the people came out of the bus, and me and 5 other people not made it. So I thought "oh well, gonna wait for the next one" And it came immediately after the first but one the very front this time so I was running across the station to make sure I make it. It felt so weird because this never happened before.
Everyone knows you just have to buy a candy bar from the vending machine to make the bus appear 😆
That's crazy 😭😭🤣🤣
One summer day, I had an incident with a bus too.
I wanted to return home after a long boring day at a 'job' of sorts.
There was one person (mom) from my family who could pick me up but it'd take her a while so I chose to take a bus instead. Little did I know i was going to pay the well deserved price for being so impatient.
Somehow, I took the wrong one which took me to the middle of nowhere.
The irony is that I realised I was heading the wrong way pretty early but was too anxious to speak with the bus driver. So my awkward teen ass's plan was to exit once the bus would eventually stop ...somewhere.
It was a 30 minute long ride...
Finally when it stopped, I got outta there and had to go all the way back to the bus station on foot.
It was a straight road so I wasn't afraid of getting lost, moreso of the risk of sunstroke.
Well, I walked for maybe an hour (on foot) but didn't acctually made it to the bus station thanks to my family who were concerned about my abscene and came to rescue me.
The morale of the story is very clear; Patience is the key.
There were more things I could mention but this comment is already long enough. I learned few things that day, so I don't fully regret making that mistake. On the other hand that was embarrassing.
@@Kyumifun This sounds much more exciting than my story tbh. The bus stations here are much closer since I live in a city. Could've easily walked at home under 30 minutes. Glad you're safe though.
i live near the firefights station so i sleep everytime since is the last stop but the other bus that take somewhat close just go infinite to the jungle country side
"Hey Patrick, do you notice something different about Squidward?"
"Uh...new glasses?"
peak patrick not too stupid more comic
What a great dude, he knows.
The Bikini bottom transport authority just likes placing bus stops where there is high demand, considering that the Conch street stop is always there, means that there is just a lot of people getting off and on during peak hours.
Odd because that street has only 3 people living there
@@thimovijfschaft3271 There are other houses in the area, or maybe it serves as a last stop before leaving Bikini bottom for who missed the other stops.
@davidebalsano6741 mmmmmm that could be the case but the houses are far away
@@StevenJones851another theory that could adjust to this is that the trio simply ask the bus driver to let them off there, so much so that the transport authority chose to build a bus stop. People in my country like to ask the driver if he could stop so that they can get off.
@@davidebalsano6741 that's a good interesting theory i like it
i just realized the buses look like lobsters
They actually look like a cartoon profile of a fish.
For instance, Goldfish crackers and the Christian fish symbol also have this shape.
They do remind me of lobsters also because of the color.
No way you're right 😂
It’s a submarine lol
@@MrLbhall16 I think this is the correct take.
because they’re from a crustation
In the first episode, it looks like they're travelling. I remember in school we used to have a similar thing once a year or so where we would take several buses and then travel to the capital city, stopping at random places of significance which were planned for the trip, without any bus stops around. One of them was usually a McDonald's, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's some travelling group stopping at KK for some lunch.
I'm a transit nerd so there's these things called excursions they don't have a specific route but stop at places around the city or town
like a school trip except this one wasn't a _school_ trip.
@@muni_Thomas_boi Yep, that's exactly what I tried to describe.
@@temari2860 oh
it’s the same for long-dusts buses, they stop after a certain amount of time to allow for a rest and meal…this was clearly the case with the anchovies
I think with the anchovies, they chartered 4 busses, rather than catching them at a bus stop
Awe will cross the street without looking both ways...
💀
Everyone in bikini bottom does that
hash slinging slawesher
Shocked Spongebob never made an episode about where those buses go and stop to
The use of the buses in Help Wanted is not unusual. They’re not acting like a normal bus would with a designated stop, they’re simply acting more like private hire coaches like what you get for the elderly, children, or special needs, etc.
In I Was A Teenage Gary, the bus is clearly acting once more like a coach, but this time it is a direct trip to jellyfish fields for jellyfishing enthusiasts.
Another great one. I didn’t realize these buses could also float up to the surface. Explains a lot with Sandy too.
They *are* submarines, and it was established early on that they can travel completely vertically in Rock Bottom.
The sardine bus could be a group tour bus for them as well
The sardines end up in a can.
Them aren’t sardines, lad… they’re… anchovies.
I love the rock bottom episode, I love how nonsensical the whole episode is with sponge bobs boss battle with over 100 busses that just want to troll him😂
That map makes no sense. How is Rock Bottom to the Left of SpongeBob's house? The bus would have had to have looped around the whole city.
Yeah there are multiple things that don't make sense about that map. Also Goofy Goobers just missing completely from the map.
Whoever made the image for the official map is probably the same person who decided where to stick the locations on the map. I doubt anyone consulted the people who made the decisions on how the buses got around in the actual show.
In my head canon, the battle for bikini bottom map is the official map. it solves most mysteries including most of the bus routes, IIRC.
Rock Bottom and Nasty Patty are my favorite Spongebob Episodes. There just is something about it when Spongebob gets a little darker, slightly lonely and mysterious. Almost like an RPG or so, in a good way.
16:55 exactly my face when u just casually remembered there’s an entire map of the place that you almost forgot about lool
I love the continuity of the buses, they really stuck with the design and red color! Haha
There seems to be a slight disconnect here… the way the public buses work wherever I’ve lived or traveled, there is a cord you can tug on the side if you want to get off at a non-designated stop. So you don’t need a bus stop sign for a bus to stop anywhere, that’s just where they HAVE to stop.
Whereas where I live and travelled that just causes them to stop at the next stop. If no one is at a stop they will drive straight through outside terminals and major stops if no one pulls to get off. And no bus stop means no stopping regardless how many times you pull the cord or hit the button.
The Krusty Crab is probably the most popular place in BB, so it is probably the bus stop itself
With the jellyfishing bus, I think that might be akin to a private coach where it was booked specifically for the event and it stopped at individual houses to collect everyone.
There surely is in human nature an inherent propensity to extract all the good out of all the evil.
The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be the beginning.
Everyone's favourite SpongeBob commentator: "Av-ve"
Buses do stop in the middle of nowhere. Once had to take such a bus as a way back into town... What a ride. In order to get to the bus stop I had to hike like 2.5 miles along a road.
I once walked 2 miles in my underwear. No socks or shoes. That sucked. 0/10 do not recommend.
@@Wumbo_the_Mumbothat's only like 15-25 minutes 30 max thats not even one episode of a TV show. That's not even minimum wage...2 miles isn't far
@@leekeyybum6930 It's far when your balls are out...
Glove world would make a good episode, it was used enough to give a idea but it's also unused enough to let people put together the location. It kinda disappeared from newer episodes so it's not gonna change much either.
Didn't glove world have an episode about how it was unmaintained and turned into a death trap? Unless that was a different amusement park, I assume the lore reason would be that it shut down later on as it was clearly running out of money.
@@xdeathconThey also created Glove Universe after it shut down.
just noticed the bus' wheels look like spongebob's eyes

omg a BUS video.... I LOVE talking about busses, i even bought myself a model bus today :D
Thanks for talking about busses.

He put heat on the wound to see what would grow.
So, regarding the rock bottom episode - there are 2 possible routes from Glove World to Conch street: Dark Blue -> Red or Green -> Light Blue -> Red. I'm assuming Sponge Bob and Patric did take the wrong bus on the way home, the green one, and since their regular route requires a bus change (from dark blue to red) it would make sense for them to get off and take another bus somewhere along the way, especially with them not paying any attention. And then it also works the other way around because you can get from Rock Bottom to Conch street and the other way around, just taking way more busses. The only flaw in this logic is the fact that the bus driver is the same fish in the Glove World stop and in the Rock Bottom, but it has to be a different bus. My headcannon is that the bus driver got so mad he decided to take a different route and leave Sponge Bob at Rock Bottom
The ladder of success is never crowded at the top.
Please do Sandy's house, Mr.Krabs house, Patricks house and anything else.
Who cares if someone already made a video on it. We all want to see it from you!
Also great video :)
Watching this instead of doing my job, thank you for the distraction
Now we're asking the real questions.
2:04 hang on, wait a minute, SpongeBob has a door behind his door!
2:05 when SpongeBob opens the door it leads straight to his door they did not edit that well
W video bro, i like that you explained all of it well, and your voice is very nice to listen to.
I think bus stops is always changing every time because of the destruction in The Bikini Bottom
Commenting here before CZcams marks this is made for kids again
Honestly in that regard, how about making a video that shows what bikini bottom looks like on a map? Of course just like with the krusty krab video, it changes where everything is, but I dunno would be interesting to see different interpretations and maps of it
I always thought that there were 2 major routes, a bikini bottom centric route that does loops around major areas of the city, and then a separate intercity bus route that visits bikini bottom, rock bottom, and probably other locations like tentacle acres (assuming it's far away, otherwise it would probably be on the intracity route), which would probably be why spongebob immediately recognizes that he's on the wrong but when it leaves bikini bottom. any other buses are probably tour buses or more privately owned / specialized
7:22 I wish every single bikini bottom bus had rollsigns
I don't know, but what I know is they're cute lil buses.
The busses probably have a cord/button to request a stop, even where there isnt an official stop
11:56 ngl that moment was pretty funny
Agreed
The bus knows who needs the bus
i feel like the bus situation would be less weird if there were more varied bus models. the buses in "help wanted" feel more like a coach bus (like, the anchovies were on a school field trip or something (haha get it fish and school)) while the ones that stop at the dedicated bus stops are more like regular buses that go on a route. you could also probably rent a bus in bikini bottom for specific purposes, like the jellyfishing bus. if they had different models this would be clearer.
The only other bus model I remember was from the Atlantis episode.
@@Chadmiral given that was a special episode using a clearly foreign to bikini bottom it barely counts at that.
Thanks now I don't need to type all of that 🙏🏾
What’s the work schedule at the krusty Krab like? Squidward definitely had work on the day that he drove the bus, but SpongeBob definitely wasn’t working. Who manned the grill? Mr. Krabs? Gary?
You know what still to this day when ever I see that episode of anyone that shows SpongeBob & squidward not at work I be like so is the Krusty krab closed or is Mr krabs doing all the cooking like what !😭😭💁♂️
Just like what happened to the patty vault. That would explain how some people eat krabby patties before spongebob shows up that obviously squidward didn't cook. But we never see it again
The town, and surrounding suburbs, where I live the buses just stop wherever they need to on their route. Picking people up is generally done at designated spots but not all of them have a clear and obvious sign, you can also just press a button to indicate you're where you want to be let off.
why do they need the bus to work when the krusty krab is right down the street?
11:15
They’re called elevated highways apparently. I didn’t know what they were called either, I had to google it.
The buses look like amogus
ive always thought one of these would be fun to drive
Imagine you’re coming out of SB’s house, the bus stop is on your left. You view it like how its animated itll be on your right.
You do realize its every 20 minutes ONE DAY A YEAR right?
I don’t think squidward would be that upset
Changing bus stops makes sense when in real life (at least where I live) they keep changing the damn routes. If you assume busses work the same way they do where I live, they go both ways. We have line routes where it turns around at each end and goes back down. No circle routes far as I know.
This video will eventually go on youtube kids 😭.
He should swear a bit at the end of the Videos to avoid that
12:08 80,000,000 fathoms is 480,000,000 feet, or 90,909 miles, or roughly 38% of the distance to the moon, and very close to the diameter of Jupiter. At this depth, the water pressure would be around 106,502 tons per square inch, or 213,004,117 psi. The highest psi in Earth's oceans obviously comes nowhere near that, being a lowly 15,750.
There are probably a bunch of routes in the bikini area. The driver in rock bottom got to the town's bus station and likely just switched routes. Patrick may have gotten on a bus that goes past Conch Street instead of glove world. The help wanted buses were probably hired privately
The woman next to Squidward waiting for the bus would have been funnier if it was just like a skeleton and it didn’t talk.
JUST TAKE YOUR SEAT-Angry Fish Driver
didn’t even realize this shiz came out like a min ago lmao
Glad we're asking the important questions.
No way it's you from the boykisser video
With us, the bus does not stop at every stop. Only when you press a button to say you want to get off or when people are waiting at that stop. There is also a service where the bus lets you off outside of a stop in the evening so that you can get home faster. But this service is only offered late in the evening. After 10 p.m.
That's exactly how it is in my city. It's just a pretty logical way for North American buses to be set up. If there's no people standing around the street, there's no reason to stop
Lots of times buses will stop so ppl can get food
i love obsessing over transit in fictional media
0:49 This is because they were tour busses and the Krusty Krab was the intended destination.
tbh the thing with conch street could just be a driver thing, in my town there are certain drivers that jsut REFUSE to stop at my stop and goes about 20 meters down the street which does nothing besides forcing us to cross the street, so maybe some divers in spongebob are just weird
they dont always fuction like a bus. some act like a coach or a privatly owned vehicle
6:17 Patrick might have got on a limited or express bus which makes Skip stop service between stops that are not used a lot
*_In front of vending machines whenever someone uses them, of course._*
i knew i wasn't the only one who wondered about this as a kid.
Bikini Bottom really does have an incredible public transit system for how many areas barely have any people.
gotta love this guy. he sounds like the "Jacques Cousteau" narrator you hear all the time. "Five Minutes Later" etc. 5 Patric Star's 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
In my city, there are plenty of unmarked yet still official bus stops, and you can flag them down at any point along their route. For the most part, as long as you know the routes and are paying attention to where you're at, you can get to just about anywhere with at most a 3 block walk
Most buses in this show are not public transportation, but chartered buses for organized trips
Imo there arent that many bus stops and the bus just stops whenever someone pulls the break line
In regards to Patrick heading for Rock Bottom and passing Conch Street:
Maybe the bus line that goes to Rock Bottom passes Conch Street, then to Glove World, and then to Rock Bottom, going the stations in reverse on the return route. It's fairly common in some places that buses run the same route back and forth, unless it loops back to the starting station.
So, Patrick took the same bus he rode initially with Spongebob to get *to* Glove World, likely intending to pass by Glove World and head for Rock Bottom, rather than taking a bus from Glove World to Conch Street.
Same applies to the Jellyfish Fields, where they can ride a bus from Conch Street to the Fields and back again, because the bus line (maybe the same that goes to Rock Bottom?) runs on a route that goes back and forth like that.
11:58 Rodger speaking with his normal voice for a second.
For the buses that stop at locations that don't have assigned bus stops, such as the Krusty Krab, they could be charter buses. For example, the buses that stopped at the Krusty Krab could've been chartered by the anchovies specifically to drive them around Bikini Bottom. (The same could be said for the bus that stopped at SpongeBob's house; the jellyfishing group rented the bus for private use.) I can speak from experience because I live in Amish Country and I see elderly tourist groups riding in rented buses fairly often.
The other possibility is that the Bikini Bottom bus system has both dedicated/permanent stops and custom/private stops. For example, the buses will always stop at dedicated bus stops, but they will only stop at custom locations, such as a private residence (e.g., Sandy's house), if a passenger on the bus, say, presses a button to alert the bus driver of their desire to disembark from the bus.
I suppose there is a third possibility: the buses will stop at well-known landmarks and buildings in the Bikini Bottom area, even if they don't have a sign indicating that a bus stop is there. That would explain why the bus stops at the Krusty Krab, Jellyfish Fields, and Goofy Goober's, since surely those places qualify as a popular destinations.
As for the buses that are marked as being for Shady Shoals and the Bikini Bottom hockey team, those are obviously charter buses, so they don't follow the same routes as the public transportation system.
the line about patrick being on the wrong bus was a fire double entendre
I always assumed the bus 🚌 worked like a mix of a bus & a taxi 🚕. Just never really questioned it.
0:50 There is no bus stop, they are like buses that drive to dedicated places, like an airport bus. Maybe there is a "Krusty Krab Express" in BB coming from Bikini Bottom Central Station?! Idk it's so weird, they stop there but there never is an actual bus stop. :(
11:22 thats called an overpass
In the Revenge of the Flying Dutchman game, there are 4 bus stops, and 5 total locations. There's Bikini Bottom, Downtown, Treedome, Goo Lagoon, Jellyfish Fields and Chum World. There is also the Dutchman's ship but I'm not counting that as it isn't part of Bikini Bottom. I believe the 4 buses will take you from conch street to Goo lagoon, Krusty krab to downtown and then I think two other buses to Jellyfish Fields and Chum World (you walk to the tree dome)
Yet in the show a bus also takes you to Rock Bottom.
Obviously a licensed game isn't going to have much consistency but the buses are a major part in that they're required to progress or change level.
Let's just say they're about as consistent as UK buses😂
this video just makes me believe awe has never been on a bus before
“we don’t see it connected to any other bus stops”
…there has only been one beach ever shown in Bikini Bottom: Goo Lagoon. the guys going to the beach means they went there, thus the bus does actually go there
I mean it might be a very local thing but in my area of Germany buses halt directly near your house when it’s late to prevent passages through badly lit areas. When I worked late at night the bus driver even walked me to my door a few times.
The answer is: wherever the writers need it at the moment
The “highway in the sky” is called a flyover
Where i live there are regular bus stops but if you need to be dropped or picked up from somewhere specific you can call and they will work it into theit route but i live in a small town so that might be why
Bikini bottom has better public transot then LA smh
Your girlfriend bought your favorite cookie crisp cereal but forgot to get milk.
H u h
What?
It’s called an “overpass” brother
As someone who uses the bus regularly and they move bus stops all the time and the busses don't actually stop at the real bus stops often.
At 2:04 spongebob opens his animated frontdoor to reveal the background frontdoor rather than the inside of his house.
Some of these, especially at the Krusty Krab, could be explained by private hire.
"Highway sky" is an overpass lol
I think the bus begin as a hireable bus service.
Sometime it works as a normal bus service, and then hireable on part time.
Later on the bus services became established as as bus stop area to cut budget.
The bus service is an off and on hireable bus service.
In realife, something cloesly relate to this is GreyHounds or LimoBus
