Stuart Fuchs is a lifelong musician, a performing and teaching artist who, during a spontaneous public jam session with jazz legend Dave Brubeck at age 19, encountered the spiritual power of music that changed the course of his life forever.
“As we played together I forgot myself entirely...something larger than myself took over and was playing the music for me...I was now an empty vessel for music to be channeled through me. My hands were doing things I couldn’t have done if I practiced 10,000 hours!”
That taste of musical nectar still inspires Stuart to this day and he now performs a wide range of musical styles and presents his innovative and joyful music workshops around the globe.
Stuart currently tours with the renowned sacred chant (Kirtan) artist Snatam Kaur, playing guitar and ukulele in support of her healing meditation music in concert halls worldwide.
Stuart is deeply committed to a humanistic, holistic and empowering vision of music education and has led his joyfully innovative clinics for all ages and populations - from Pre-K children to Fortune 500 CEO’s, from college music students to developmentally disabled adults.
For eight years Stuart worked as an artist-in-residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY - in 2014 was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for his work bringing the healing arts to cancer patients, their families and hospital staff at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY. He is grateful for all the life lessons learned through the deep work at the hospital.
Stuart offers an annual holistic ukulele retreat called "Ukulele Zen" where he playfully blends meditation, yoga and qigong practice with the ukulele - this allows participants to learn how to access a much greater ease when playing. Stuart is an endorsing artist with Kala Ukuleles and Planet Waves. www.stufuchs.com #ukulelezen #stufuchs - Hudba

@@UkuleleZen Thanks You friend 🎼
so cool. I'll bet it sounds good on my banjo uke to.
thanks for sharing.
you're the best.
Oooh - didn't think of that. That triplet that goes D U D, D U D will sound awesome on a banjo uke! Should offer overtones of George Forby's split stroke....
+Ukulele Zen (Stuart Fuchs) that would make a great lesson.
just bought a Kala concert banjolele.
what a sound is coming out of that piece.
thanks again.
Very very nice lesson on a cute instrument.
Thanks Rockingman!

Great video lessons. I’ve got a baritone ukulele. Where would I put a kapo so I could follow your lessons?
Спасибо
Thanks for watching 😊🎶🤙 Please subscribe for more videos like this one :-)
Hey Stu, great talent, but I don't see a free song sheet on your site, so how would I ever get as good as you? Just asking. Thanks.
Thank you Stu. I'm new to the Uke, but loving the journey. I am from Liverpool and a big Beatles fan. I believe George Harrison loved his Uke too. That's good enough for me. Can you do a lesson on 'In my life' please? I subscribed so looking forward to your music. Peace.
Thanks Brian - someday I will do that! I play a version of it in this video: czcams.com/video/GKLq9DQ2NIU/video.html
@@UkuleleZen I just watched your Beatles Medley and it has once again inspired and motivated me to keep practicing. A great concert ! If you ever play in Perth WA, I'll be there. Stay safe in these ISO days. Cheers, Brian
Just great, thanks! By the way, do you have ukulele duet tutorials...? If you don't it would be great if you could add some...!!
That's a really good idea Guy! Someday I'll make a duet video...would of course want to make it with a partner...be well, Stu
Stu, you’re a very good teacher, however on the beginning riff, I am not sure what cord you’re playing after the last G. Is it C9? for the walk-up? Trying to get it right! Thx!
Great tutorial, but the most famous version is the one in the Hall Of Fame by Wilbur Harrison
Thanks for the heads up - I'll go check out Wilbur Harrison!
Love your music and lessons but you don't tell how you tune your ukulele as regular tuning sounds lower?
Low G my friend. Standard ukulele tuning is GCEA With the high G string… I have mine as a low G string which is common in many players do it. You can buy special sets of strings with a low G string in it already
Hi, sorry I am not familiar with Patreon, should I register and log in to download the song sheet? does it have any cost (I mean using patreon I know the sheet its supposed to be free)
Thanks Daniel. Patreon is a means of supporting my channel...there are posts for videos made from Dec 2018 and on. This video here: go to www.stufuchs.com/store & get it where it says "Free Tabs & Goodies". If you wanna support on Patreon, happy to have you join ;-) Be well, Stu
@@UkuleleZen I can't believe you answer Stu I'm your fan!!! I was specting somebody else to answer me like a representative, Stu you are unique with the ukulele I won't show you what I play becuase you would laugh until your lungs explote, I play easy things like blues and "El mariachi" I am from Colombia and I have a creative idea just for you, if you want to double the amount of donations you get, you should think about putting Spanish subtitles in your videos(I know you are an English speaker but keep your mind open to this ) , I can watch you since English it's my second language, but Iwhen you look for videos in CZcams using Spanish words it only shows you results in this language, same thing in English, if you add subtitles in spanish and try to make a title like, learn how to play "El Mariachi" in your ukelele perhaps also Spanish speakers will find it and of course some of them might donate to your channel, hope this works at least to get you some help to keep this running
Whats the picking pattern please also where is this free on your store
Look at www.stufuchs.com/store and click "free tabs & goodies". It should be in there...
Love your videos.. but can't find free sheet music
Hey Jodi, Free Tabs & goodies are HERE: (scroll down to find the Beatles Version of Kansas City). www.stufuchs.com/free-tabs-goodies You can also get to this page Fromm my website's store - just click "Free Tabs & Goodies" :) Happy playing!
Thank you!!!!
On a tenor uke - Stepping down from G to D I lifted my first finger off the "D note" leaving only fingers 3 (G note) and 2 (B note). I can't find the chord in my ukulele chord book. Anyone know what the chord is named? Thanks.
Oops, forgot to add, strummed all four strings in this chord configuration.
Got it. Worked it out Gadd(4)
Excelent. Like. I also play ukulele on my channel
I like what you do! I just subscribed...great playing here: czcams.com/video/Q-1mMRumSKc/video.html
Floppy and fast wrist you say...? “For strumming” mhmmm ;p
Floppy & relaxed, but still in control. That's the balancing act of relaxed strumming technique :-) FYI: There are song sheets, tabs and other resources for my CZcams ukulele lessons at my Patreon Page: www.patreon.com/ukulelezen
Way too fast for a beginner.
Slow it down with youtube settings
