My PSP came with this movie when I was younger and I watched it till it broke. Great movie.
Had the same experience
Ayyyy samezies haha
Same
Same. Great freaking times man
Exact same bro
The moment Jay started solo shredding the entire bowl you realize he was always the most talented one out of the three. TA and Stacy were skilled too just way more competitive, but this scene depicts how creative and passionate Jay Adams was to Skatebording. Riding over the steps, something TA or Stacy never thought of. His constant search for new structures to skate, while they’re in tournaments. Jay should have been destined to he bigger than both but chose to follow his own path, fuck money. He had it all to himself
Rip Jay Adams 🕊️
Grew up skating and one day in middle school I found this movie on dvd at the library. Best thing I ever watched. I still have the dvd, never returned it to the library.
The first time I saw this scene I just felt this terrible sadness thinking about a father who can do nothing more for his son than to drain the pool to let him and his friends spend his last days of life having fun together. Still terribly sad scene.
This scene is incredibly beautiful. This movie inspired me to get a long board. I would drive to the new neighborhoods being built with the freshly paved streets and have the smoothest ride. I had a hill that was perfect, I felt like I was snowboarding. It inspired me to be able to enjoy being by myself and finding ways to enjoy life. Hiking around the lake, to the mountians.
I mean, it's sad that Sid would never skate again but he has a supportive group of friends and a supportive father so.. that kinda balances it out.
@@theobell2002 you do know he dies right?
4:53 I love this part right here. You can see that Sid is out of breath just like they are, out of pure excitement of seeing his closest friends skating in his pool. Its like in that moment he was in there skating with them..
whats sad thoguh is if we had had better chairs back then he could have dropped in with them
@@WardNightstone stupid
This was my favorite movie growing up
Reminds me of 6th and 7th grade. This movie came out around then and over here in NorCal all the guys were skating
Real shit
Real shit
@@mde3370 imagine what it was like for us growing up in dogtown/venice seeing this!! :D
The movie was lame.......all these guys bagged on it .
Aww Sid was the glue that kept them together through skating 🥺
Who put this shit together I’m the glue
@@jaydubs6354shorty FaceTimed me out the blue
Oh the memories of skating with my buddies. Some of us are not here anymore and it just makes this scene hit that much deeper now that I am grown.
Agree 😢. I miss the boys, some still living and some are not….this scene hit the heart for sure
This part always hits hard, man. Sid was that dude for all 3 of them.
I love this movie such a great scene…the way they depict Jay as just this renegade natural throughout the whole movie is awesome …going over the steps 🤯
I was 18 when this came out, never thought I wouldn’t talk to my skater buddies, but you grow up and start a family and life takes everyone different directions
Grab a board and go skate, and then send them a message or something. It's only too late to get in touch once you're dead.
Only need 1 to reach out.
Nah if someone is a true friend they can still take the time to talk to you
Sk8ters never die, Get a board and get out there.. Im almost 50 and I still sling a stick from time to time. No excuses except those that you make..
Do phones not exist in your world?
As someone who has had a brain surgery and skateboarded this movie hit me hard I understand how hard it can be, can’t imagine how bad a surgery on the brain was back then, gave me some hope seeing his friends push him around
Daydream was the perfect song for this. I've never even seen this movie but I'm close to tears. Just a beautiful and tender moment between friends.
Whos it by?
Jay was the best one the way he went around the pool ladder was sick 🔥 🔥 No people can do it better that the originators of the skateboarding sport.I wish i could of skateboarded like that.A great scene from the true story of the Lord of Dogtown movie. My first time watching it was around 2006 or 2007 era.Do ya'lls thing homeboys
4:24 this always gives me chills! Such an underrated movie!
It’s not underrated kid
@@johndon2536 it is in my opinion
You need you friends like that man, best homies let their homies get in the pool no matter what 👌
I feel like this is most peoples childhood. Whether you skated or not, you had friends, you had falling outs, friends die, you reconnect, and then lose touch. It seems like an unavoidable sequence of life. Its sad.
never used to be like that communities always stuck together before all this technology came out really feel like we are the lonely generation. pretty much the industrial revolution ruined everything imo
@vincenthammons-kd9du There have been a lot falling outs in the skate community since before cellphones. My parents who were born in the 50s, were telling me long before my first Nokia brick phone that I wouldnt have the same friends from high school that I have now, and that's true for like 90% of the planet. Ive got ONE friend from high school still. Everyone else either moved out of state, moved hours away, or we just stopped being friends for various reason. I've also had several friends die before I was in my 20s. My experience isn't unique, it's just life....but this scene really makes one reflect on it, and why that is, and how it can be prevented.
I was like 7 or 8 I think when this came out and it hits me the same to this day I'm a super reminiscent person to begin with but this really gives me such a bittersweet nostalgic feeling about friendship and back in the day shit it's crazy. this is truly one of my favorite movies of all time skate shit aside too
*When I was a young lad, I just wanted to hang out and skate. So, we did. Lots of getting chased out of places and kicked out. Just for existing. But, so many memories.*
This scene gets me every time! Great Movie
love this movie. so much heart. heath is a force, and the whole movie is really well cast.
in my opinion this is where skateboarding was born. After all the fame and bullshit they realized what really mattered
MY FAVOURITE FILM OF ALL TIME !!!! DOGTOWN FOR LIFE ☠🛹🤟🤟🤟💯
I still cry when i watch this scene
This movie will forever be a masterpiece
If you were not around , the thrill of finding and riding an empty pool will never be beat!
Messed my head up when i found out baby sid wasnt real.
It’s because the real story is even more sad. The dog bowl sessions are real though
Sometimes a screenplay get it. Sometimes the movie hits it. Skateboarding is love man.
Vice did a catch up with jay. You can see how amazing a skater he was. Everyone always said he was the better of them but the mental health and drug use got the best of him.
I always appreciated how they represented that pretty well in this movie by giving him the impressive tricks to pull off
That's the way to go, with the boys, doing what you love.
One of my all time fav movies ❤
A fav movie of mine as a teen.
Couldn't watch. I gotta watch full movie this only part of the roller coaster! Best over ever
Such a great film.
We had a pool like this. It's a beautiful scene.
Nothing like having brothers
Sisters too they become that bro you never had
This makes me wanna cry
Man when I was a kid I lived in the country
I had no friends
No one wanted shit to do with me
So one day tech decks started showing up at Walmart and my mind was blown by the artwork and I just had to collect as many as possible and about 5 months later the movie grind comes out and that’s when I said I wanted to skate
My mom got me some skate adidas and a real cheap darkstar board and it was on after that
This movie is when I realized I wanted to do freestyle
All the people at the time were kind of jerks and more worried about who was a poser rather than bringing others up
if i'm not correct this was based on a true story, the part where the brought him in and took the wheelchair and were playing with him brough me happy tears because his friends care so much about him.
The documentary will always be the better. But this scene still gets the water works going. 😢
Speed Racer & the guy from Forbidden Kingdom ❤
Two awesome fun movies!
"dame yerba" is a dope line🤣🤣🤣
I saw this movie in the theater by myself. All my friends were busy but i had to see it . Solid movie and great energy/vibe. 🤘😁🤘 Suicidal...
man when that pink floyd song starts playing was like a wedding ring to a finger
Perry knocked over the table.
Yep, due for a rewatch

♥️beautiful movie. This scene is beautiful. Makes me sad kids these days don’t do things like this, they’re glued to their phones or video games. I still have hope because there’s many who still get out there and live.
Anyone know if the music in the background is from a song? The acoustic strum into that electric guitar is sooooo good
Heard you were sick too!
Sad but a smooth way to have a smoke
6:35 😂
Jay was just free in everyway the word could mean
this movie is dope !
Nostalgia
Cool ending
It’s a touching scene
Soooo sad , but the happiest 😢 pretty punk rock bro!
There's two movies to watch to understand the greatest era of skate culture: Grind and Lords of Dogtown. What an amazing childhood we had.
I watched this with my skater boys.. we skated the town for days an hours after that.. we don't speak anymore..🛹
Lol, I don’t think she called them “idiots” in Spanish at the end there. The word she used was a little harsher! Lol.
This movie is so fucking good, you have no idea.
"That's pretty punk rock bro 🤘🏽"
Dude respect bro! Lol
Use to get a lot of shit for skate boarding back in the day haha
But now its so worshipped on the media/tictok... skateboarding is a way of therapy...an escape lol
The best time of being free is pushing throught that concrete and jungle lol
Somebody please tell me the song to 5:35
Daydream - Robin Trower
For some reason Bald Jay reminds me of old Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins…
I dunno why tho…😋
I've always wondered if this part really happened? I'm not sure how much of the film was accurate.
Pride and greed ruin everything and everyone
Never skated a day in my life and this was my shit
Buddy skates. He told me that he about got sponsored but, mom and pop didn’t want to sign off on it. Went military instead.
Just like with Video games we were told.."You will never make money Playing around with your friends" Little did they know Us our friends, would create multi billion dollar industries.
His parents sound like pieces of shit. Jealous of his talent. don't want to see him make money from it. But fine sending him off to potentially die or go mia. I hope your friend is doing okay. I hope hes found peace. And I hope those leeches arent in his life anymore
@@redneckhippiefreakyeah, I think as kids we figure adults know better, and most adults think they do too, but once you grow up you realize that most adults are dumb as hell. If this guys’ parents were intelligent they would understand the advertising allure of skateboarding, and would know that advertising dollars are incredibly high.
So his parents signed off on the military?
I'm calling BS.
@@AZ-kr6ff I doubt its BS. A lot of parents are jealous of their children and don't actually want the best for them. It's usually the parent has no talents themselves, was given everything and is envious of those that had to work hard, or is just a failure in general and takes their failures out on their child/children. There are some truly wonderful parents out there. But a lot of parents are pieces of shit.
Which you where hereis in the end
Will Stronghold and Speed Racer
Sid ganja
Paralta is goat
Taking the meaning of zipper head literally
Did Sid really exist in real life?
Dude looks like Skrillex
I've been skateboarding for 30 years shredd till your dead
god this was my movie wore the fuckout of my LoD shirt till it fell apart
"Okay, we need a super cheesy yet emotionally validating scene to tie in the separate arcs....any ideas?"
I don't know if its cheesy, Sid was based on a real kid named Dino and this really happened, he was dying of brain cancer and his dad let them skate the pool.
The have the actual film from the real event. It's on CZcams
This scene hurt me, even when I was 12 watching it for the 1st time.
yall don't know about the ghetto by the sea
I used to have friends.
so sad
I forgot but did Cid have a brain tumor or brain cancer? I remember during the film they would mess with him not knowing he was sick.
If a brain tumor isn't cancerous it rarely kills you.
@@Paul-vf2wlmy wife had a brain tumor/full craniotomy 12 years ago. Not pleasant but “ok” now
Actor playing Jay skating goofy fight does not look right at all
You're not wrong, but at least they got the actors to learn how to skate. I always appreciated that about this movie.
Better than pretty much every skating movie I watched as a teenager.
This oart made me feel bad for him. The whole movie EVERYONE treated him like a bitch, on some old school shit. Found out the kid had cancer & they were all like "😬"
Real pools are not deathtraps you can't get out of at the edge, set built from ply perfect for skating because wrecking a Marbelite pool was out of budget, but the story is true, mostly.
wow who cares. they were bombing pools irl
Uhhh..We skated pools all the time..No damage what so ever.. You came up in a time of foam lined pools obviously. The old ones were concrete .
@@redneckhippiefreakthat’s why he stated they used a set. He never said they weren’t skating the pool just that this isn’t like the real one.
I never understood the point of casting Emile Hirsch in these bad boy roles. Dude is softer than charmin.
I dunno...he was pretty good in Alpha Dog, I think that might have even been my introduction to him.
@CptnAwsmBalls I will say that his casting in Alpha Dog was pretty brilliant. Bc he was playing a guy who thought he was a bad-ass; but was actually some dipshit kid who thought he was a banger.
@@CptnAwsmBallshe actually has the same problem in alpha dog as this movie, in that he makes you more sympathetic to the character then you should because he just comes off as a good guy pretending to be tough.
@@Quakerman14 most actors are not badasses dip shit lol
sad part is the "sid" character was made up just to make the skaters not look like ego driven kids
well they had a guy around them who did die from a brain tumor
@@philly442 everybody does and no they didnt kid sorry to tell you
I've never seen this movie before. Turns out, the acting really sucks I guess.
I wish my Stupid ass town hadn't banned skating they even promised to build a park where you could legally skate but it of corse NEVER happened
Perry Caravello blew both of them after his fake auto accident. It’s fact, look it up.
First
Just now realizing Jay is a complete POS. Telling his friends that they shouldn't see him like that, yet he goes alone. Then tells Sid complete lies about Tony n Stacy while Alva is already there in the pool is Stacy shows up.
You missed the point of Jay’s entire development. He wanted to he a team, he never wanted to leave Zephyr. The reason he’s pissed with TA and Stacey is because they used to he close friends and they grew apart after time. He’s not a POS he’s just an angry kid. And the most talented skater out of the three. He simply chose a pth thats not of glory or fame. He turned into a better skater than both TA and Stacy put of sheer experience with different structures in his time away from the both of them.
Perfectly said!!@@jtsunami6531
I loved this movie then I watched the documentary and made me hate all of them lmfao bunch of self ego inflating clowns. Everyone in that documentray were the poster boys for people who "peaked in highschoo" vibes. Acted like they were hardest teens cuz what? they surfed and skated in the ghetto lol... my grandpa at their age was fighting in Nam lol. Movie was amazing z boys documentary was hard to finish too much ego stroking.
Lol get over yourself they were teenagers who were superstars hard not to have an ego at that point.
This guys is so mad no one gave a fuck about your grandpa lmao
@@boomah47 comment went over your head... clearly too stupid to understand why the documentary is disliked by many lol
This movie looks AHSSS
Yo momma
You’re gonna put what in your mouth? 🤔
It's good not ass
Do your self a favor and watch it. It’s really good.
this movie sucked
I LOVE THIS SCENE !!!!!
