Not sure if it would interest you Hannah, but you can clip your Peonies’ bud with stem prior to full bloom and freeze them for later use in floral arrangements. A nice way to keep fresh flowers around the house well past their “season”.

My husband and I are ripping deck boards off while we are jacking the deck itself level. It's very slow going with the heat and hubby is 78 and I'm 68. It will be so nice when we're finished but like you we tweak things as we go!!!

I always love seeing gardeners in other zones/climates! The peonies, strawberries have long since passed here (unless this was filmed a while ago) so it's a treat to see them again.
When your garden gate starts to sag you can re-square it by attaching a cable and turnbuckle from bottom corner latch side to the top corner hinge side to pull up the droop. Looks good though.
Tip for brightening up that pantry is to add a mirror on the wall across from that window. Or what's left of the window showing 😂
Hannah may be a walking OSHA violation, but she sure gets it done! I'm always impressed how you make things work. I tend to wait until I can get things perfect, and that keeps me from starting or finishing way too many projects. I always watch your videos to motivate myself.

I love natural wood in homes, and more often than not I am against painting wood.... HOWEVER, my grandparents have a house like yours that is all natural wood planks everywhere. It's an old mountain home as well. There is such a thing as too much wood lol. Over time they have been trying to do what you are, finding ways to balance out and highlight the wood so it's not too much.
I know exactly what you are talking about at night/in the dark when the lights make the wood look all yellowy.
It was a good call to paint it. Just a night and day difference! It looks so fresh and inviting! I love it!!

The pantry!! Yeah!!! I was hoping you will paint it white, wanted to suggest it but its not my house. I just knew from experience it makes a huge difference! I will add hooks on the wall so you can put all your pots and pants and free cabinet space.

not sure those posts were set deep enough but it doesn't really matter since it's just for a gate. I got a manual auger for my homestead that works really well. You probably could find an antique one in your area easy.

Cool video as always! A little off topic of this one, but in case you dont know it you can use steelwool to stuff in small cracks around the house to keep the mice out. And if you ever wanna use an alternative to concrete I recommend ground screws. Used them to put up our fence.

In the pantry your shelve that’s above the window is also blocking a lot of your light reflection! The whites definitely better! But making that shelf two shorter shelves on either side and leaving the space above the window free will bring in so much more light! 💋 love you!

It looks gorgeous. Can't wait to the climbing flowers or whatever you planted on it. Hopefully the animals have enjoyed the buffet while it was open and stay out now. I'm not one to say that you can't paint any wood in a house because each situation is unique. I agree that the pantry needed to be a lighter color and boy did it change a really dark dungeon into a happy space to store your dry goods and appliances that you don't want to be cluttering up what little counter space you have. Depending upon your mouse situation when your not home I would suggest storing anything that they could get into in glass jars or containers to make it harder or impossible for them to get into the food stored in your pantry. Electronic mice deterrents actually do work quite well and we haven't seen any mice since 2011. Lace or a cotton valence that had either painted or stenciled design would look cute on the pantry window. You could paint some of the flowers that grow outside your cabin on them. Just a thought.
