Because it was overshadowed by coming out the same day as Unity, so it only appealed to hardcore AC fans.
Meanwhile, Unity's been forgotten. No patches for Pro or X. Shame.
Give it time. I predict a remaster of Unity once PS5 and the next Xbox come along and they can do 4k with 60 fps. It's Ubisoft. It'll happen.

Play unity in 2019 its well worth it, and all the bugs that plagued it at launch are gone since like 2015

@@dhiagamer290 bullshit, the bugs are still very much there just the game is actually playable now unlike in 2014 and the guns and stealth are still completely broken as well as the story being good for like the first and last hour, everything in between is boring filler that feels so forgettable

One of the best entries in the series imo. However i was immensly disapointed when i saw it running at 30fps on my pro... specially when the uncapped x360 version seems to run at 60fps on xboxone (or so i heard). Theres really no excuse for a last gen game to run at 30fps on pro or X

There should be resolution and performance mode on enhanced consoles, one at 4k 30 and other at 1080 60

One of the best ac games... I still believe that if ubisoft didn't anounced unity with rogue... And anounced only rogue... Maybe we would work more in rogue's development... And we would see an epic story.

An interesting scenario you could've also used for the comparison is the original Xbox 360 game playing voa back compat on the Xbox One X. As you said, the frame-rate on the 360 version is uncapped, so it'd be interesting to see if it reaches 60fps regularly. I've tested this myself a bit in a few different places of the world, and it seems to achieve a respectable frame-rate most of the time, although I can't confirm anything because I don't have any tools to measure frame-rates.
EDIT: Also, I think the PS4/XOne version of AC4 got more improvements from the last-gen version in comparison to this "remaster". And remember, AC4 was actually a port (though, to be fair, Rogue Remastered is priced cheaper).
What a great game, good they made it for current gen, even if no graphics change this games needs to be played just for story to complete it. Everything comes together when you complete this one.

AC Rogue is so underrated game
I have the game on PC, still haven't played it though. It's currently $8 on PC. But since the game is made in my home city of Sofia and I'm really proud to have a Ubisoft Studio in my small country, I want this game to be a success on the consoles at it's full price.

This game looks absolutely beautiful in native 4k on a 50 inch.
First I have to say I am a fan of Digital Foundry and really like their analyses. Unfortunately this time Digital Foundry made a mistake. The frame rate isn't locked to 30 on PS4 pro when outputting in 4k! The first missions had no drops at all but later on it gets really bad with drops to around 20 frames while it is raining (I think it was a mission of sequence 2). It was so annoying that I just deleted the game from the hd. There are also spots of the map where the frame rate dips when nothing is happening and only the camera is turning. Anyone who played the whole game in 4k on the Pro and experienced the same?

This AC lets you play as a templar and man did i enjoy this game for that specific reason, templars are the ultimate badasses, i never want to play as an assassin again.
ALL games, going forward, need to support both a stable/locked frame rate mode AND an uncapped mode. With Pc and now with the PS4 and Xbox games... especially with the Xbox Bakccompat... future consoles supporting previous games can support the older games with much improved performance. But not if they are stuck, locked at a lower, stable frame rate. Even if the Xbox One X can't fully support a locked 60fps for Rogue, I'm sure the next Xbox will.
Not if it is running on framework. Microsoft isn't going to back to "emulate" their Xbox One games for their Xbox NeXt, for instance, dude... Sony and nintendo may take a different approach or might be behind in this capacity, but its the PC argument.--all games should have at least an unlocked mode so future tech can push it as far as it can go. Now with Xbox going this route with their older games, its a must-have feature every developer should utilize.

I still have yet to get around to getting as far in the series as Rogue, but I think I'll stick with the PC version I already own. While the visual upgrades are nice, they seem pretty subtle next to the PC version's ability to run at 60 fps. Still, for anyone who does go with an eighth-gen console version, at least it's a perfectly locked 30 fps.
As much as I did like Origins. This is how Assassin's Creed is suppose to feel.

Unity is 900p on console and only runs at 60fps if you play an unpatched and offline, early print of the physical game. It will only get a higher resolution or fps boost if Xbox’s back-compat team work on it, Ubisoft won’t patch it as it is quite old and they aren’t even doing 60fps patches for Division2, Breakpoint or any FarCry games.
At least you confirmed my gut feeling the game isn't simply the PC version maxed.. I have it on pc but grabbed this digitally (I can't find a physical copy for sale. Oh well) on my ps4 pro. Looks amazing considering and so far I'm enjoying it.

Remaster is taking the original assets and displaying them at the best possible quality...which this does. I'm not a fan of Ubisoft's...practices, but quit being a salty baby.

Oh, not in this re-pay version. But the 360 version runs in Backward Compatibility mode on XBX at 50-60fps, and 30-45fps on XBO. With improved filtering and resolution. The 360 version is the one to own.

I missed Rogue first time around, but I did hear good things about it. Black Flag (with the exception of Origins) is my favourite AC. If I can find the time inbetween the slew of other games I need to play I might pick this up.

As someone who owns a Pro and an X I can confirm several of these games head to head look better on X. Definitely the console to get for 4K TV users. I like my Pro but it's slowly becoming what my Xbox One was - an exclusive box.
Done with all the checkerboarding. Give me true 4K. And before the master race chimes in I have a PC with a 970 and I'd still rather play on console. I spend enough time with a computer at work.

Are you sure about a PC remaster being in development for the future? I can't find anything about that, and from everything I've seen, this is essentially a pretty straight port of the existing PC version, with a few minor setting tweaks. I doubt they'll bother further enhancing the PC version as well.
Replying to year old comments but oh well. Reading over these comments really makes me hate being a PC gamer sometimes. For me, it's all about the games and while I am spoiled because I have a decent enough rig to get a great gaming experience, I know the downfalls of gaming on a console. This remaster is not meant for PC players, PC players already have the game with all the bells and whistles they need, this is aimed for console games and more specifically new generation console players who might have missed this. Is it a shame it's not 60 FPS, sure but how I never understood someone who claims to love games yet will dismiss a game because of this arbitrary things. 60 FPS doesn't not make the game all of the sudden award winning material, yes it'll run smoother but aside from that it's still the same experience. Again, for a console player this is a welcome remaster and if you already have a PC then why sit here and whine and complain when it has no purpose. We get it you have to flex your muscles to be better than everybody but damn, just relax and go back to enjoying games.
Considering how old the hardware is, it still looks great on the X360.

It's nice but I'm struggling to get into it since the beautiful Origins. Shame they couldn't have improved further to 60fps and HDR but game engine limits and all that.
It's a shame that Rogue didn't have Unity's Parkour Up/Down movement, hopefully it comes back in the next AC.
I didn't like Unity's parkour system, it felt too clunky I think. I really did like Syndicate's parkour system though. It felt a bit more fleshed out
Rokon Yeah Syndicate built up what the Unity team established, I always thought It was weird the neither Rogue or Orgins kept it
I haven't played Origins yet, but how does that control? Is it like the older games? Syndicate seems to have a nice balance of control and fluidity, so I would have thought that'd be the standard. I suppose I could understand Rogue though, perhaps it was too late in development to incorporate those new control schemes.
PS4 Pro and One X really should have got a better CPU than just an upgraded Jaguar.

I acknowledge the fact that he is giving praise to the developers for improving the textures and resolution. However, defending the issue of this game not running at a higher framerate just for the sake of making an ocean effect look great is utter bullshit in my book. THIS IS A LAST GENERATION GAME BEING REMASTERED FOR 8TH GENERATION CONSOLES. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME IN THIS GENERATION THAT IS GIVING SO MUCH PRAISE FOR THE NEW CONSOLE'S POTENTIAL AND ALL OF THE STUFF THAT WAS SAID ABOUT THE POWER AND PERFORMANCE OF THE NEW CONSOLE'S THAT MAKES THEM WORTHY COMPETITORS, HERE WE ARE IN 2018 FINDING OUT THAT THEY CAN'T EVEN RUN A LAST GENERATION GAME AT A SMOOTH AND STABLED 60FPS. THAT IS SERIOUSLY AN EMBARRASSMENT. Visual enhancements are good to have in a game but it doesn't serve proper justice to the game if it is not met with enhancements in frame rate. Rogue does not run 4k 30fps on ps4, the frame rate drops alot when the display is set to 4k for those who have a ps4 pro and a 4K tv I recommend you set the display to 1080p and boost mode for a stable locked 30fps

Technical Achievement and Gameplay can be separate things, you can admire a game for what it does technically but still hate how it plays, a great example of this would be The Order 1866.

That's disappointing that it's only 30FPS on the X. I will pick up the original Assassin's Creed Rogue so I can get 45FPS+ on the X. The naval battles on VG Tech's video look amazing at 60FPS!
That's some trade off though, 688p for an extra 15 or so fps. This game isn't X patched so it's just the original upscaled.
I know, but 45FPS, even 40FPS, feels like enough of a boost that it feels closer to 60FPS than 30FPS. I'll take the hit for the smoother experience
id rather have a fun game than a gorgeous game.
Cutscenes and ship gameplay run pretty smooth, but as soon as you leave the ship it feel below 30 fps and if you move the camera there will be little to recognize on the screen its sad
I love this remaster! I don't know why a lot of people are complaining about it but I have a feeling that the people who are complaining about it are subscribers to the extremely negative CZcamsrs known as LazerzZ and Fizhy.
At least it's capped at 30fps instead of all over the place.
Also, it's just a 30$ remaster, I wasn't expecting a huge upgrade in graphics or 60fps. I could care less about 60fps in a Remaster that's just 30$. If it was more than 30$ I would expect better but it's not. It's a decent price for a decent remaster.
