Alisha explaining how she views social situations is completely me. It's crazy to me how many things during that portion of the pod I 100% get and relate to what Alisha was saying. It's something I have struggled with for a long time and still do. Just hearing someone else say it out loud is validating since I'm not the only one even though it def feels like it. Wish I had a Remi to guide me 😄 Even though you dont have to be best friends with everyone you meet I always feel like I have to and can't seem to shut it off. It always results in people bringing me into their group and being "friends" but for me they aren't people I genuinely connect with so then I feel like I have all these people around me that I don't relate to and can't be myself with. I think I’ve found some type of peace with it now and I want to start making friends but idk how to do that.
I am so sorry for your loss!! I hope you can make some new friends soon!! I need to do the same but I do online school and I’m not involved in any activities and I don’t have a job so I have no way of meeting ppl and I have severe social anxiety!😒

I think the most important thing about having a guy/girl best friend whilst in a relationship is that all 3 people have to be on the same page (ie. know their boundaries). I have a couple of male, not best friends, but closer friends that I hang out with, we never do anything that crosses the line, no flirting, no touching each other inappropriately than the typical handshake or friendly hug during greetings, no going into each other's places alone, no wearing matching outfits etc. In short, don't do anything with them that you would only do with your partner As a partner, always let your partner know if you're hanging out with them, whether your partner told you he/she thinks you should tell them or not, both as a form of respect and giving him/her a sense of security that you're being honest with them. Both my partner and I's current phone passwords are our respective birth dates, so if he wants to look into my phone (which he almost never does), he can. You also have to understand that it's completely unrealistic to shun out all opposite sexes in your partner's life other than you (eg. family, work, school, childhood playmates), plus they're their own individual people, so who are we to tell our partner who they can be friends with? And are you really important enough for them to throw away a 15+ year friendship for someone they've met for less than 6 months (assuming their friend did nothing wrong)? As a friend, it's important to ask whether your friend's partner is comfortable with them hanging out with you, and to respect boundaries when applied. Both me and my friend strongly despise cheaters and lovers who knowingly put themselves into this, whenever one of us gets into a relationship, I always say to him, "Is your gf/the girl you're seeing insecure about you having female friends? If yes, let me know, and we'll keep our distance". At the end of the day, it's all about being honest and maintaining your own integrity, if your partner is making very unreasonable demands despite this, there's zero reason to keep them in your life. What destined to be yours will always be yours, there's no need to force anything, because time will always tell
