This guy has some of the best questions period. I swear I've never seen Wayne this engaged in an interview in a long time. Questions that actually provoke thought and engaged everyone.
Facts
well, Wayne hasn't had an interview in a long time
DalexDorchester Yes he has. Lol he had one on Shade 45 not long ago.
+Bob Hill I missed the shit out those lol. what platforms? espn n shit I don't count
+Bob Hill shade wasn't a Wayne interview, it was a 2chains and Wayne interview lol. and it happened very recently so I include it within the realm of this 1. last one was a year ago...that's a while to not have a one on one interview, especially in the social media era.
I haven't seen Wayne act this normal in a long time.
It's cuz they engaged him wit some good questions that made em wanna talk forreal. imo anyway
watch his interview with Elliot Wilson. you won't be disappointed
Normal? This nigga baked as fuck lmao
But yes, this interview is one of the best because these questions are different & very good.
Man I wish wayne would do more interviews. Actually more docuseries like he used to do back in the day with the hip hop DVD's etc.
He will
watch god money war documentary king los
+Jamie Vincent wasn't speaking to you.
+ohhKilla nah. nino brown story part 3 never came out lmao. even tho bitch ass scoob doo made people pre-order it and shit lol
+Jamie Vincent agree to disagree.
This is one of the best hip hop interviews I have EVER seen! Props to Genius for that. Wayne talking about the culture was fascinating to listen to.
Juvie was a story teller ppl just don't listen. But lyrics in the south do matter. Outkast goodie mob 8 ball mjg juvenile. Man come on we not all slow lol.
Real talk even today Big K.R.I.T, CyHi The Prynce, etc
+Garvel St.Fleur right.
+Garvel St.Fleur Both artist are not big and most of their fanbase is probably from outside the south.
This right here. Preciate the love to one of the greatest we had to offer bruh bruh.
andre 3000
If he forgot "I Feel Like Dying" .... I can't imagine how he would feel when hearing some of his older mixtapes....
Considering the man has put out THOUSANDS of songs and remixes, and that was one of his more famous ones....
Crazy.
I'm from the south and he telling the truth.
Outkast t.i. Goodie mob bossie.
+Diggla Yea cuz if we did(South Region) our front runners would be KRIT, Cyhi, Isaiah Rashad, Tito Lopez instead of Thugga, Dolph & Future(even though I like his music).
East coast, west coast = word play lyrics.
South= reality.
Donatello Michelangelo not totally true... everywhere has ghetto's... so it depends on the actually artist.... nyc got mad hoods.. from brownsville to the south bronx.... LA cali.. same shit... south central LA gang bangin etc.. Atlanta the south.. same shit.. Memphis...TN... Nawlins all that shit is the same.. its just different styles of rap.... and the south chooses to talk about their environment more than the other regions.. but the west coast was really the first to talk about alot of how they live in hiphop.
East coast talk about reality to just with lyrics
2 Of Atlanta & New Orleans Finest
Im from NY but I also Lived Down South... Tha Problem in tha Early Dayz was NY Catz didnt Understand Southern Slang & Lingo... If U dont kno Tha Language then ur not going understand tha Wordplay & Lyrics... By me living in New Orleans In tha Mid to Late 90s before I went back Uptop allowed me to understand Tha Hotboys Slang... Same with All tha Otha Southern Hiphop thats was Dope... Southern Cats is tha Same towards tha Eastcoast... Same with Eastcoast vs Westcoast... Now everybody uses tha same Slang damn near so its easier now to Comprehend Southern & WestCoast Muzik... Midwest also... Jus my Experiences & Opinion...😎💯😎💯😎
The west coast Los Angeles California gangsta rap has won the battlefield game in 92 and 96! Cause of banging on wax, smoothing and swamp meet location of war zone from dj QUIK and MC Eiht and all the others. Let's go! Golden state warriors aka the dub & lv raiders ruthless nations 4 life!!!!
It's a really intresting point Wayne brings up about the difference of realities between the South and the North. Even today, a lot of the music coming out of Atlanta is about what he was saying - trapping, drugs, fucking bitches and most of the lyrical wordplay stuff like from New York for example is where that reality is reflected.
post full interview would be great, loved it!!
Lyrics will make you rich nodoubt especially if you can mix you're style to a point all coasts love it
The dude that's doing this interview was on Taylor Allderdice mixtape... Automatically #Legendary
Lil wayne needs to drop that Dedication 6 quick.
Nah tha carter v and then he can be done
+Frank Franks he shouldn't make sequals anymore. just give it another name. people are only going to compare it to the older ones which are classics forreal
Right
+Sjorssvh good point, because for NC2, i was comparing to NC1 and the result of that was, i didn't really like NC2, it was total shit compared to NC1.
+Frank Franks true. he should let the all the classic series be as they are. he shouldn't have made NC2, D4, D5 and now D6 IMO. just rename the mixtape. the dedication series were classic. I understand he needs to make C5 because because of all the hype around the Carter series but I hope it's going to be damn good. C4 was kinda disappointing to me but it grew on me eventually.
Wayne forgot about 'I Feel Like Dying'. Come on Wayne. Smh.
we need more wayne and chainz interviews please get more...
That was such a good answer, and I'm an east coast cat. I totally felt that.
Damn weezy how you not gonna remember the name of "I feel like dying" thats for real one of his dopest tracks lol
Thats what I was saying, he forgot one of his best songs. 😂😂
+Zane Cash thats bc he was out of his mind at that point in his career lol falling asleep on shows on that syrup heavy hell listen to the song he talking about doing fry and all lol 05 to 10 the G.O.A.T he gave u so many different styles dude made autotune hot for mc's and could give you any type of song. He a set legend with really ONE commercial album The Carter 3. Wayne made his name off mixtapes. Idc that I cant feel my face with juelz wayne and dedication 2 wayne cant be touched
+Reido S* he made autotune hot for mc's*
Reido S
bruh that i can't feel my face mixtape is so slept on. one of his best collab projects ever
+Reido S Indeed.
For all those who want to see more of wayne inside stuff talking and stuff ,go checkout the CARTER DOCUMENTARY, NINO BROWN PART 1 and part 2 ,lil wayne BEHIND THE MUSIC . His life is extremely interesting, eye opening and full of spice and brilliant stuff.
Amazing video
Wayne impression of Birdman always funny af
Why you got that headband on? You finna play ball or somthin?
definitely enjoyed I love y'all niggas man Wayne you changed me bruh 💯 since I heard you wit squad up in 02
very good insight
Scarface BunB Andre 3000 all dope southern Lyricists
Thats a good point by Wayne, hip hop has different levels of appreciation. Lyricists, then you got subject matter, then theres those fire beats with that vibe. Jigga, Tupac, Kendrick, Em, Nas, Wayne the legends combine all elements.
I remember when I first heard I feel like dying.. dawg that shit blew my mind
It comes down to styles... The East Coast, for the "most part" was built on talent. Technique, delivery, content (to a degree). The South evolved over time. Many sounds and styles came from the South, however the end result was one dimensional.
Yo i agree JReel17, very good interview.
last 2 minutes was worth the whole series
The mf'n right remix is soo nice, Wayne kills that shit well so does chainz
it was well thought to be a bonus track.. cause I was mad he wasn't originally on that track when I first heard the album
That was great
andre 3000 is the best one of the most lyrical and he is straight from the south
Down south dopest lyricists, Ludacris, Mike Jones, BumB, Andre 300, Scar face, Young Jeezy, Young Dro, little Wayne, and a few other I can't remember.
Mike jones nigga you trippin
This nigga said Mike Jones......nigga who???
Dem real country ghetto niggas
Jordan 23 dunk he from houston
I prefer easy coast rap, but Wayne deserves respect as a lyricist !
it's because Wayne is real !
The south run da show . 27 years
Wayne done made soo many muh fucking songs/ hits that he had to ask the name of the song 'feel like dying'... he is a legend although im not even a fan of his anymore
that ending lmao!
that triple cup tho
Wayne make so many songs he ain't even remember "I feel like dying" lol.
omg this shit is killing me I wish they would just upload the whole interview as ONE VIDEO
We need Wayne on The Breakfast Club
Lol he won't even do that. I think it would end bad too
+NOSDRAHC LEGIT!
+Nat Diaz yeeaahh! I dont think he too much f's with charlamagne. If he does at all. lol!
😂 😂 😂
Brad jordan is scarface. He cowrote for many artists. I remember reading "b jordan" as a writer on Devin the dudes album. This is real hip hop.
Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz was absolutely right it's very much a difference between the East and the South we don't really care so much about battle rap and wordplay
Sad
@@johnaponte1808 Not sad, it's just different. Some of that wordplay is over the top, corny, and pretentious. You'd turn people off just caring mostly about lyrics. Besides, all the rappers up north are copying the South now.
In the south we don’t talk ghetto we talk country ghetto down HURRRRRRR
We is lyrical y’all just can’t understand us
-born in Dallas TX but raised in Birmingham ALABAMA
Hillbilly
First things first, WAYNE is the most genuine, legit, empathetic, and resilient person in the rap game. He is so real it might hurt your fuckin feelings, because fuck being fake just to please anyone. I say he carries this rap game on is back... I would call it hip hop but Wayne is the only REAL hiphop left the game. I would lick my own ass to have the pleasure of interviewing him and chains. SHOUT OUT TO WAYNE FOR LITERALLY BEING THE BIGGEST LYRICAL INSPIRATION TO MY LIFE AND SO MANY OTHERS. NOBODY CAN STOP YOU
Great interview. Wayne opened up a lot man no homo I love this nigga. RIP to Prince but wen WAYNE dies I'm taking a week off work to listen to nothing but wayne and do drugs.
Sqad Up LOOOOOVED them some Roc-a-Fella and State Property. You heard it all in the raps.
Almost all the Sqad Up tape songs were roc a fella beats lol
nobody talk about the Midwest style? 🤔
You dont wanna hear wordplay. You just wanna hear what you talkin about❤❤❤
Best shit ever
Lil Wayne one of the greatest...ever
Ready for D6
It feels good to see Wayne give props to juvenile
lil Wayne - the living legend
Stunna impression 100
Anyone notice the stacks of money on the ground
so we gone act like outkast /geto boys /ugk /b.o.b /t.i rick ross aint got lyrics flow word play ? story tellin etc?
william rhodes always exceptions but for the most part esp. in the 90s lyrics South rap was: lyrics second.. beats/melodies/hooks first!
They are the exceptions in southern hiphop... the stand outs.. the outcast ( no pun intended)... the overall southern rappers don't rhyme the way TI rick rosss, wayne, cyhi the prince do...... they rhyme about their hood, the trap their drugs and their money, their car.. in a non lyrical way.....
Rick Ross made terrible music, the south are hardly in anyones top 5 . Only OGs who I can bump from the south is goodie mob and geto boys , Outkast Andre 3k started that weird dress thing rappers wear nowadays
@@hassanx9423 you must be from nyy
All the way down to Florida is ec
FYI
Wayne and chainz are real ones 💯
They like yea !!!!!!!!!!!
1:38 REAL REALITY
I love 2 Chainz voice haha
wayne tell the truth
they got it backwards.... southern rappers and East coast MCs
Ekiah G That's literally the first thing I said
Same shit I said
I feel the same way
I’m frm NY & Wayne is definitely Top 5 !
2 a real Wayne fan talking bout sqad up
Check out their hats! 2Chainz' is Ric Flair and Wayne's still has the price tag on it :D
east coast beast coast
we$t coa$t the be$t coa$t
The West Coast is overhyped as fuck. Artists like Nino Man, Jadakiss, Lil Durk, Montana of 300, French Montana, and Fabulous get slept on. Battle Rapping originated in the East and the West would be nothing without the east. Respect the roots young one.
+Season 1 French Montana is wack g
+Kendrick Lamar facts south and west been running the game ..
+bryan rivera True I mean look at the west, school boy Kendrick jay rock yg the game problem iamsu e40 ect could go a long time and the Southern like trap music future young thug migos gucci mane trouble , ect could go on even there producers everyone in 808 mafia , nard and b , MetroBoomin , zaytoven and who's in east , Jay z Nas Joey badass that's mostly it lol
There's no secret to southern rap, they make club hits. It doesn't matter that the lyrical content shy a few is weak, just like it doesn't matter the bartender didn't make the perfect drink, it's about the experience. If people want more intelligent, diverse or socially relevant content then they need to actually spend money on it. That's the problem so rappers will continue produce content which will get them spins in the club because it translates into touring revenue. Artists make a good portion of their money on tour these days, which is flipped from when 50 Cent sold 13 million albums.
that's true I mean look at future, young thug, migos, gucci mane ect they aren't the most lyrical but they make hits that make people fuck with then and I fuck with that trap music
This is a fact the clubs dominate Southern music so Southern artists gotta conform or stay underground
Historically speaking East Coast rappers have always been better, however right now everyone pretty much sucks. No region is better than the other.
not really you got cole, Kendrick, wale, joey badass etc. from different cities
Wayne fuckin lit here
Funny how trends work. Take a big brand and make it your city's logo.. like it's your city's logo
thats my favourite wayne son
Hol' on pleighboi, them don't look Solja's.
Wayne is a lyricist man...he just choose when he wants to use that style
First, kooliest interview ever
Juvi the GREAT
@3:49 😂😂😂😂
Niggas wearing reeboks instead of nikes and timberlands -Juvenile
anybody else find it weird that he didn't even remember the name of his own song??? and what makes it weirder is that songs in his top 10, if not 20 best songs (in my opinion).. idk I just think its weird how he didn't even remember the title of one of his best songs... hmm
Is Brad jordan scarface
I mean Wayne was and is still rapping about similar things, i don'T understand why he throwing a shot at Turk
All white Soldier Rees with the gum bottom
smartest men ever
Wow stunna was very strict back in The day when wayne was with cash money
#carter5comingsoon
You didn't remember I feel like dying lil Wayne ? Lol damn ur fried
what's up with the price tag still in the hat? lol
you've never left the size sticker on your fitteds?
I've left the stickers on my TV, but I'm not a rapper
Lmao. I'm talking about leaving the sticker n tags on fitted caps. It's really common regardless how dumb it might look
Thank you Juvenile
i love this side of wayne n titty boi( 2 chainz) its knowledgable, inspirational & deep.
Most southern rappers don't care about lyrics except Krit,Tut,and Isaiah Rashad
listen to Earthgang
Oh so j Cole doesn't exist ?
+Uh Huh you're a fuckin idiot was was raised in Brooklyn if he only went to college in there? He didn't leave the south till he was 18 lmao. It's not the same thing at all , he was just influenced by east coast rappers he wasn't raised in New York he went school there for 4 years and stayed after he graduated because he got his record deal with Roc Nation. So STFU the nigga is born and raised from the southbound .
+Uh Huh Tupac wasn't raised in Harlem so it's different, Tupac was born there and left in. 7th grade lol then moved to Baltimore then moved to Oakland at 17. And if you listen to tupacs first couple albums he didn't sound west coast until All Eyez on Me he was very much an east coast MC till he signed with Dre. Matter fact his stage name was MC New York before he changed it just 2pac.
+Uh Huh and the term Who Dat (J Coles first signle) is a southern term FYI
I get what Wayne saying...but still.
He is telling the truth Southern rappers are Not lyrical Their appeal is to a simplistic Mind i.e. Southerners But that is not Rap.
That Girl we not lyrical cuz our accents, WE COUNTRY
@@fukdrezz6520 an accent is when you pronounce things differently speaking backwards is just that speaking backwards "how old she is" is just backwards it doesnt shorten the sentence nor is the inflection changed ....country and or backwards talking either way it's not rap. It doesn't rhyme nor flow and mumble rap is illegible.
How Wayne don't remember his own song lol work ethic is brazy
West Coast beats all
both mainstream and Underground
No
Charmaine what about innocent COMMUNITIES as myself innocent...who hatin you bro... Stop BS
West coast is da same as south straight up not dat word play . . Some west coast lyrical but not world play an it a wobbler .. West coast hip hop can be either South or NY . We do got ratchet music a we da birth place of ratchet music an porno raps . Too short , an Gangsta raps an hussle raps trap raps ... there a trap in Cali . We just don’t call it da trap we call it a spot or whatever
lil wayne rapped better back then
He rapped like the goat back then. Too many styles to compare to anyone
Yup, he was hungry back then. At his peak he is hands down one of the best to ever touch the mic.
+Tris A. smh u dont know hip hop if u call him the best to ever touch the mic...fuck outta here..
YoungViz Aye dumb ass, i said he's ONE OF the best to ever touch the mic not THE BEST to ever touch the mic. Personally he's not in my top five but at his peak when he ran hip-hop for years he was untouchable and nobody was fucking with him. Also if someone did say Wayne was the best that would be their opinion which everyone is entitled to have.
Tris A. Its a argument he is the goat lol ppl just expect one way or rap now he might have started some bs trends like skinny jeans but u see he grew out of that but lyrically he at least top five. Ppl only point to the autotune or pussy songs but he had great songs hell even that pussy monster was live lol thats when he could get complex just talkin bout coochi but after c4 he started gettin on that bs in my opinion he top 7 at the least but like i said its a argument he up there. He brought new energy to the game at that time ppl aint expect THAT from a southern artist just like outkast and them in the late 90's he changed the game. I laugh wen ppl say wayne sound like young thug smh DISRESPECTFUL (Stephen A voice) that i cant feel my face wayne and D1 and D2 wayne putting drake and all these niggas to SCHLEEP real talk. And those just two of my to favs
South dudes still waiting to download "Crank That" on dial up kazaa in a 5x white tee
Lmao they in their Girbaud jeans too
+Nat Diaz nigga Girbaud Jeans was an upnorth thing. smh
Jennifer Sims you sound stupid the south we gutta
Why don't Southern rappers speak English? They mumble on the track.
the same reason, most southern people have "country" accents, and northerners don't. Same reason the US sounds "ignorant" compared to the UK. accents, southern drawls, and slang all contributes.
+Trent Payne truuuuue
random guy you're an idiot , just trying to make ignorent people laugh, the do speak English they just slang words and have southern accents
Buick Regal exactly.
SKYNET #2025 why you hatin and everybody jockin our shit
Southern Hip Hop is the best genre of rap there is bro. We do it better than all coasts in the US.
South rap is whack. The people who controls the industry, are the ones that decides what they gonna promote.
No south rap is corny and trash
I'll explain is south make trap east makes good music
+Hanston Solo well no
Generalization make people look stupid. I'm from the same place Brad Jordan from and we never did Trap.
+Hanston Solo so trap can't be good? You the same nigga that if they play thief in the night, pull up on a kid, wicked, etc... at a party you're at you gone be the main one turnin' up and dabbin' and spit!
Hanston Solo no lol southern rap way better
