That ball bearing/journal bearing combo: it's not that unusual. Turbonetics used to do that back in the day.
Great videos! I found your channel looking xor Porsche builds. I just spent the last few days binge watching the series. Now watching the 240. Both are cars I would love to have. The Porsche is my dream car, and been a fan of the Z's. Since my Uncle bought his in '82. Build what ever you feel, also a bike fan. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video guys, love the info and advice!
subbed because he actually put a timestamp for when he starts lol
Learned a lot from this vid....nice!!!!
I have one of these Gt35's on my 4 cylinder, 2.0L zetec in my ford escort zx2. Its been pushing 25 psi for at least 5 years. Brand name HKS bov and tial 38mm wastegate.
If you build cars you’ve bought off of eBay lol 😂 I’ve got kids so every builds a budget build ✌🏻
Right!!they are expensive (kids)
Really dig the vid. Planning on turboing my car this year and wasn’t quite sure where to look when it came down to what to look for.
Thank you so much for this valuable information if I ever pick up a turbo I am sure that I'll get the right one now thank you so much👍👍👍👍
I bought an OBX Helical LSD off ebay for my 2007 Porsche Cayman S and the bolts were loose and I had to deburr a few rough edges inside but for the last 5,000 miles it's running good! Great channel
Awesome videos guys, keep it up.
Just picked up a new pair of sick boosted shades.😎
sweet video yah one time i bout a intercooler kit for my 96 doge neon build came out great .i miss that car
Nice break down. Thank you for sharing
Great video as always thanks!
Just found your channel was having problems finding performance parts for my VG33E until recently thinking of running a turbo. There is actually a turbocharged engine model but mine is not your channel has made it as painless as possible thanks.
lol that dual you found has been on watch list for so long, same one boostedboiz use on their builds. first time coming across this channel. I'll give a follow!
I'm sorry what does dual mean
Just fitted an eBay special quick shift to my E36. So far so good. I've also commented on every video, my partner finds it hilarious when you announce the winners and it's never me 😂
Just bought top Speed Pro1 mufflers for my 2000 m5... They sound amazing
Very interested in seeing if this turbo you get works well or not
I ordered an exhaust for my old mr2 and that turned out great lasted for years with no issues.
I recently bought the Launch X431S pro mini diagnostic computer (they make the Mac diagnostic tool)... just received yesterday and have not even programed it at this time... hoping to use it to change the governor on my 06' sprinter that is governed at 82 mph... when we drive out west the highway speeds are 80 and I need to up that to 95 mph to keep from getting run over by semi's ... also bought a glow plug controller from ebay along w/ the glow plugs for said Mercedes Sprinter...... Many Blessings , SMR
Thanks for the great video ive been looking at small Chinese blower trying to figure out if i should buy it
When you first gave it a spin, I thought journal bearing right away. Not that I'd really complain with that. Quality journals do a great job. Very little friction once pressurized. The compressor wheel had a reference mark and on the nut was the ground-off bit from the balancing process. You'd have to line it all back up exactly the same as it was for this turbo to work now. But I'll bet if you did, this turbo would boost nicely and that ball bearing on the compressor side would be just enough to make it robust against surge. The cheap metallurgy that went into casting the turbine housing is the part I wouldn't trust.
Good video bro! Thank you!
I've bought numerous too-cheap-to-be-good parts from eBay and usually found them to be pretty good. My favorite is probably the LED headlights I got for my old VW Bug. $80, were clearly knockoffs of $500 JW Speaker units. Avoided them for years, hoping to save up for name-brand, or even takeoffs from the late-model Jeep Wranglers, but finally looked into it a bit more, found a lot of Jeep blogs where people found they were pretty decent. Decided to give them a try, not a ton to loose. Found they work great - huge upgrade over stock sealed beams and they've worked great for well over a year now.
I bought a k03 turbo on ebay and it did ok but the exhaust seal leaked a little oil. Turbo said it had a restrictor built in so I don't think it was getting too much oil.
I run a blow off valve from EBay for my 3sgte and it is great. It is a SSQV knock off and I love the sound. I am currently building a 2jzge NA-T and I am planning to run a EBay turbo and inter cooler.
R.A.W. Performance same on my father's is300. about to run a ge eBay turbo kit for 800$
How big is the compressor inducer ? The to4e ebay turbos are 52.4mm . i have measured three.
Pretty much my Whole car is ebay parts, Turbo is a CXracing T04e , injectors are from an ebay store, intercooler and pipe is cxracing, clutch it XTD, waste gate and BOV are CHials from ebay. I've gon over some of the problems I've had with eBay stuff on my channel. Seems like it always comes down to 2 things, QC and lack of warranty, but as long as you go into it acknowledging that you're going to have to go through it and possibly fix it and that if it is DOA or it blows up later your on your own then it's ok to buy this stuff. My CHial BOV and waste gate were both DOA and had to be "fixed" before I could use them, didn't cost me anything but time to fix them though.
You play a risky game with EBay. And the no-warranty factor is huge for me, and not worth risking everything going well so that it's a non-issue. In the end, there's a reason it's an axiom: "You get what you pay for."
Stovall's Garage Chinese "eBay" fuel injectors are junk. Have come across these several times as a tuner (both sold legit and sold pretending to be genuine Bosch) and they have always caused problems. Their low duty cycle performance is terrible so they cause running problems at idle. Also, often their opening latency increases dramatically at fuel pressures above 4 bar, causing them to under-fuel.
@@Kj16V I bought Bosch 30lbs off of ebay for 80 for my 04 gt. Haven't had a problem but ik they're actually Bosch.
I bought a Aluminum radiator and stainless steal headers for my fox and the radiator came with fans saved me over 1800 bucks and they worked great to help me drag out a 08 Zo6 through the 8th
Had loads off eBay over the years. Turbos, air box and intakes, blanking plates and sensors, LEDs to rice up my interior. Most recently I got LED DRLs and a HID upgrade for my headlights, last night I bought the LEDs for my fog lights too so it all matches 😁
Bought a carby for an old 22r. Wasn't exactly the same and some mods required but worked wel
Did you search Amazon at all for a turbo? I had brilliant luck with my exhaust for my turbo Eclipse.
I recently bought a dc sports header for my car im pretty happy with it, it was exactly what was advertised. Except for being a open box sale for 300$ after i bought it they still have the same sale for many other ones? Wierd. It also didnt come with any gaskets or hardware. Whats your guys take on electric superchargers?
Love that you are driving the Porsche!
Wen are you goung to get a decent tune for the porche and maybe some dyno numbers ???
Nice video, subbed
I hope @5:44 you were meaning to measure the Exducer of the compressor wheel. As you might already know, when a turbo manufacturer says they have a "76mm" turbo, they are usually referring to the Inducer of the compressor wheel, which is the diameter of the tips of the compressor wheel.
I was just about to say this. This is another way eBay manufacturers turbos false advertise.
I was thinking the same thing. They def measured the part.
@@ItsAdust I measured 3 of the the to4e one and they were 52.4mm. Figured someone might want to know.
If you send an ebay turbo off to be properly balanced they may actually last a long time. Many are not balanced and end up going though bearings and blow out oil seals in a few thousand miles. It will cost about $40-60 but will be worth it. Same goes anytime a turbo is dissembled, rebuilt or something like a compressor wheel replaced with a lighter billet piece.
damnit my guys I cant wait to see this datsun looking dope
Have not bought performance parts on eBay, but I did get the wheel bearings for my truck. 29.95 vs 155.74......
What size restrictor would you run on one of those hybrid turbos?
Great video! I didn’t know they made turbos like that! What good would that do anyway, need a restriction for the ballbearing but the other... I can see a disaster happening either way! Haven’t had any luck with turbos from eBay . Show up with shaft play . The last two companies tried saying that its normal... uhh wtf do take me for? Like to just get a factory turbo but new are really expensive and may as well get one from Garrett, the other option is a good used one... until you check the waste gate and it hangs up on the hole for the flap! So how do you get something reliable and stock for the car and not get ripped off? All these new cars with turbos n one day, cause the dealer won’t tell everybody that you have to cool down your shit after hauling stuff and the shaft/bearings coke up with that 10,000 mile oil change bs n the oil looks like it came out of a Diesel engine at 3,000! So this cheap China junk turbo crap needs to go ! The inferior metal they use is porous and after boosting up the toy to 18psi a dozen times the housing on the hot side cracks, blades start grinding, wastegate seat cracks and the retaining washer on the wastegate melts enough for the flap to fall off! Point is that even if the turbo looks good and measures out right on the inducers and exducers you still don’t know what kind of crap metal was used to make em! And it doesn’t stop with turbos, it’s everything anymore! Y’all know what I’m saying! And then the worst part is you spend a few weeks pay on a good turbo and the dam thing comes in a box that says MADE IN CHINA 😡🤬 Is there a way to tell if stuff you’re buying is made with quality materials? We all want to save money and get the stuff we want whether to play or get to work? Btw Autozone parts are from .... ! But when they fail you just got to go to the store and swap them out, cause they keep em in stock🙄 Since fricken when does Walmart sell turbos?!!! Sorry for the rant!
Ebay performance parts..
Actually bought a used Arizona z car intake manifold as well as a used 8007 holley carb. Planning on putting it on my 1981 280zx l28 and hopefully make a blow thru turbo config
looking to buy a twin turbo kit for my 85 k10 but not sure how well that's gonna work
Bought some Big Block Ford Aluminum heads. They were actually pretty good. They're still on the car and running strong.
Bought a $40 cai and the bracket didn’t come with it to hold it solid to the frame and had to custom make one put the pipe in had to go underneath to secure the custom bracket and to install the filter 😂
I actually ordered a LS block over the weekend (found a couple cracks in the 350 that's in my truck now). $89 plus $199 shipping from Florida, should arrive tomorrow afternoon.
I bought tyre valve caps off E-Bay and they fitted. Anything more than that I want to see before I buy.
Bought some ebay braided turbo oil lines, worked well suprisingly.
I got my turbo rebuilt and it came back like a new one.wow I thought.i mean it cost $2100 but I thought quality costs right.now I realise they just gave me a $400 E bay turbo and kept the profit. I have the invoice and turbo if anyone would like to see it.
How did the new ball bearing turbo turn out
I have never brought stuff from ebay, I try to keep away from it but sometime in the future I'll probably get something for my car
Hi, you called that motor a Nissan ? what exactly is that engine... capacity, bore, stroke ? thanks Rossco
i braught break discs slotted and dimpled for 180 and my breaks are amazing with no fade
if it was not for ebay i could not afford to fixup my old mustang bought a lot of parts new and used sometimes they get things but still it well worth it
I dodnt know they did that...solid info bro
You guys ever tried the brand maxpeedingrods? Would you please try and make a video on them....very popular on ebay...maybe tear one of them down...great videos keep it up!
Any good eBay injections? I have used plenty of parts from eBay. Control arms test pipes catback y pipe oil pan water pump. Belts fans. The fans worked fine, Y pipe fit fine and the exhaust fit fine. But all exhaust parts I have bought are meghan.the oil pan didn't fit at all. Was about an inch too small. The control arms that are emusa have been excellent for 3 years. Bought a set of mdu coilovers adjustables have been great for 2 years and going strong still. Water pump and timing belts have been excellent. Water pump brand was gmb and belt was gates(not sure it counts since it's all known quality) I have used blox products without any issue at all.
My boost gauge is a no name cheap $8. It works kinda. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I bought my arp head studs and npr rings from eBay.
Overall if you are careful about what you buy on eBay it isn't a bad place to shop. A lot of times can get name brands or n.o.s products for cheaper or just find hard to find parts.
I am also working on an eBay turbo build.
Subbed cause I seen the Poway exit. I'm in Socal too. Hope to link up soon. I have this Volvo project I'm working on. Might need help
Hell ya
lmao, its the "I am never going to win." guy!
so so sooo much thans for show and explain.
my ebay parts were an entire turbo kit, the turbo was some sort of hybrid thing it was a jm turbo technologies cold side and like a holset hot or something like that and it worked amazing, was a true 76 mil, and the rods i bought were SGI h beams and they held 700 hp and me beating the piss out of them, i machined them in my block, a little bit but they were great
Hell, all parts from ebay are great
Hahah...yes, I bought a td04 turbo for my ej205 Forester and haven’t yet had any issues
Yes it I bought a eBay turbo kit witch blew up and fed shartnal into my b18 😅
Brought 16 piece stainless exhaust/ intake valve kit for stock 351 ford Cleveland cylinder heads. Had no issues, and ended up selling the heads later on and got $300 for the set.
Mostly just PC parts and tech, flip 'em if I find a good deal. Also love the Porsche build, saving up to eventually fund my own 'diy' 964 singer x outlaw hybrid build.
Lol I live my life one eBay package of car parts at a time 😎👌 it doesn't matter if it's from eBay, or if it's from Autobarn, Racecar parts are racecar parts! Dude you never had your eBay parts! Not double purchasing eBay parts like you should! And!, Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's and ordered three T66 turbos with NOS... and a Motec system and exhaust! And I bet Harry's scopes those super cheap deals from eBay fam 👌👌
DeathStroke I see what u did there
Hahaha!
DeathStroke Now me and the mad scientist have gotta rip apart the CHial wastegate and change the cheap diaphragm you fried.
I am ten years older and i just realised none of this makes sense. Fucking spoon engines.
I thought he liked cars? Maybe he didn't back then, or, they couldn't due to copyright.
Harry was a crook though
I bought a a/c friendly turbo kit and surprisingly I only had to redo the down pipe.
Only thing I used off eBay is gun parts, haven't had the chance to get performace parts off it yet great channel though guys
Was in a financial bind a few years back and my blitz bov siezed open so I ordered a Greddy type S knock off bov called a freddy super racing bov which worked out very well. It's been on my car for over 7 years 120K miles and holds 16 pounds of boost just fine.
Oh just opened the prize and it's Fire! Gonna clean the car and apply the swag in the coming week or so. Thank you and keep the awesome videos coming. 👍🏻
Good info boys.
I once bought a clutch kit from eBay, not a smart decision though learned my lesson from it and prefer to go to a junkyard but their not very close. I rather save up a little longer and buy good brand parts
Boost addict got that win must have a turbo 2.3
I buy everything off ebay lol, but id be careful woth the t3 rebuild kits, they are "universal" so have alot of mismatched parts sometimes
I bought a cone air filter off of eBay for my 1.8T VW, only for better turbo noises haha, it only had the baby ko3 turbo
I've bought parts for my Duramax nothing critical just some block off plates and deletes and a few sets of HID light...I don't recommend the lights...lol
i have not bought any eBay parts (outside of genuine parts) for any of my cars, though my friend has a gt35r eBay turbo on his Integra and he hasn't hand any issues with it and on his flow bench it moves only about 4-5% less air than his real Garrett gt35r
I bought an ebay dual ball bearing gtx3582r turbo and it's working flawlessly boosting 35lbs making 630whp.
What car
05 wrx
Bought car audio products, OEM plug adapters and brackets. So not performance products. You get what you pay for. They worked, although the brackets didn't quite have that OEM look
Ive had a ebay turbo on my honda for 50k miles. I got the kit and the blow off valve and waste gate let out boost at random times so i went name brand on those but the turbo that everyone told me would break still hasnt.... lol
eBay! 🙌🏻
Better hope ya put that all back in the same config. Those wheels are /were balanced.
that fact that do giveaways every video earns my sub
I got a exhaust system off of ebay, my car sounds okay, it was cheap so i cant complain
I havent bought any performance parts for my car from ebay. I'm definitely on a budget and in my experience buying iffy budget parts ends up not being the cheap option in the long run.
Grab a used K04 from borg warner 😛 they can be really cheap like 100$ used
I built an entire 450bhp twin turbo vr6 setup with eBay parts (apart from the turbos which I got free from work). Still going strong 1.5 years later
That turbo actually looks pretty nice, ive seen some crappy turbos off ebay xD ... on another note ... its like the same shit but if you have amazon prime there are tons of turbos on amazon that you can get free 2 day shipping on ... its pretty nice and prime stuff is backed by amazon so if need be returns should be easy :P ... great vid guys
Removing the shaft nut for looking into the center section prevents the wheels from being perfectly realigned again for balancing purposes. I know you were returning this one so no foul but I don’t want others to do this just for fun/curiosity. While I have a real turbo I plan on trying an eBay turbo one day based on the success of others. My Intercooler could use and upgrade should it grenade anyway.
I liked this vid. Thx
Where can I buy that engine stand?
I have an eBay turbo on my Jetta tdi and I run it hard and have never had a problem with it
very helpful
I was wondering if that turbo would have worked on the Jeep build?
That single bearing turbo is based on a Turbonetics design. It was used on a lot of there turbos.
You can get those turbos for about 40 dollars if you check fb market
Bought a down pipe, worked but needed some tweaking.
