This guy has the perfect "radio voice" and is informative to boot!
I’ve never had a problem with the sound and smell of a good Diesel engine.
As long as it is well maintaned.
You ain't never owned an idi
Smell even better on veg
*BRAIN CELLZ HAVING FUN
It's toxic
I like diesels because they are loud and stinky.
Johnson's Gee-rage don't forget greasy.
And trees like the CO2.
Then get you a 80s Chevy with a 6.2.
I have one in my 83 suburban.
I love it!
Maybe It's cuz I grew up in a diesel truck shop but I love that sweet smell a diesel engine that's in good shape puts off when It's running, every time I'm driving my Chevy 2500HD Durumax diesel truck I gotta roll down the window and get a whiff of that sweet diesel exhaust smell!
Save the earth Don't give birth . I got a 95 k3500 6.5 , but having a problem of losing oil pressure when at operating temp like she rests at 20 lbs on the gauge on the dash (if the gauge is right .) I got her for 600 bucks a extended cab long bed dually, lol I practically stole it at what he was selling it for
I just bought a 2013 Golf TDI and this is wonderful information. First diesel vehicle. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
My Jetta is down for a DPF, yay
Just want to say this helped me rebuff my knowledge for a job interview coming up and I cannot thank you enough for this video. Cheers!
Thanks Bridget .
BACKWARDS!
Gas POPS like a explosion, kicking the piston like a bat hitting a ball.
Diesel burns throughout the stroke , a long soft shove. That's where the torque is created. Just ask the guys writing / programing the custom tune chips for all the trick diesels.
But the explosion is what makes them loud. Lol. Its a shame the gov is choking diesels out. Go back 20 yrs and ask somebody for diesel exhaust fluid and theyd laugh at you just like if you asked for blinker fluid. You see more bigger work trks as gassers cause the diesel engine costs have gone up ridiculously and def systems are junk and a epa game. Id rather have a bad running desiel than a clean gasser in a room with me
technically the cetane is what causes fast initial flame front. Cetane rating in europe is lower and diesels are quieter and make less diesel rattle. Go read this: www.maxxtorque.com/2009/03/diesel-timing.html
top fuel burns down the stroke to ,but higher compression with gas can burn up the mix in 10 to 15 % down the stroke so u dont need as long as a stroke and that will help getting to a higher rpm
This is an incredible channel. The amount of detail and professionalism is unlike most channels. Keep it up, guys! 10/10
That was the smoothest match box pass ever
Those big coolers work great but I gotta say I love my Ridgid Gen5x Hybrid Fan that will run off a battery or can be plugged in and is portable and has 10 different mounting options from hanging on a screw on the wall to being mounted on a tripod to being hung on a string or cable or even being mounted on a 2x4 from level to sideways or even upside down, It's definitely the way to go when your moving around. But I sure wouldn't mind one of those big coolers for my garage that's for sure!
Dude I love your explanation of gas v diesel, I think my wife finally understands... I've explained it to her many times but I didn't have a way to create the visuals that you did
Wahoo, finally a diesel episode! Now we need some more! BTW, I love the new intro.
This video really helped me out. Ive always known a lot about truck and engines but some
guys in my class started talking about some of the stuff in this video and I was lost...
My 1981 Mercedes 240d diesel is an incredible machine.
Very useful information, it is also kept very interesting. I learned a whole lot about diesel engines just from watching the video. I do love that Motroz shirt too, I'd wear something like that.
Easy to follow and interesting
Thanks for the informative video it helped me to decide against converting my 1959 3600 Apache to diesel. I will stick to the simplisity and low cost of a gas engine.
Thanks, because I was so worked up over some pyrotechnics and I didn't know what I was gonna do. Again.. thank you.
Thank you for a well made program! You seemed to focus very much on diesel pickup trucks though. What about all the diesel cars out there such as the superb BMW 535d for example?
FINALLY!! fresh videos, ty!!!!
Just bought a diesel Jaguar and LOVE it !
My last car was a petrol 5.7L LS1 V8, but as I travel and tow alot for work, I now have a 4 cylinder 2.5L Turbo deisel. First thing I noticed was the lag and the knocking sound. Although diesel has much better fuel economy when towing, I miss the instant power and the purr of the V8.
just found your channel great info, I subscribed, and like.. Thanks!
Nice video very informational
Best teacher Chris 👍🏾
Awesome video. Felt like I was in a class I was paying to much for
Great stuff👍
I miss the CAT C15 and Detroit 60 series
Bob, the throttle valve is strictly used to meter the exhaust gas as it is recirculated in the engine, but not in the traditional sense in a spark ignition engine where it is used to meter the intake air into engine.
The best intro ever 👌🏻
This is one of the most professional/high production values CZcams channels I have ever seen. Is this on regular TV? It seems like it could be on a cable channel.
Yes it's on Prime Video, TV, Roku, and other places! www.motorz.tv/tv Thanks for watching Pete!
Love the shelby in the intro lol
This is a pretty good video! I'm getting a Diesel engine for my Triton Ute, also known as a L200, and i am getting it for the power output of the engine. Knowing they can run away, i have specifically said "I want a manual gear box" for in a few cases, It will give me more power when towing then a regular 3 speed automatic, and it will also allow for more control, such as a Diesel Run away event. The event being when the engine's fuel is cut of, and starts using fuel from the Sump of the engine. Should the event happen, i can easily stop the vehicle engine, and avoid a melt down or worst. I also know, that in the event that i do such to stop the engine, it will need to be checked for Excessive damage to bearings and Gear box gears.
The amount of power from the engine, could smash up some teeth within the gear box. And to avoid it, i will try and put other safe guards in-place, such as a air choke which is manual, and designed to regulate air from 0-100.
I’d like to learn more about the 7.3L diesel in my 2002 Ford E350
Good stuff👍🤟
Thank you!! :)
Dear Chris,
Thank you for the wonderful show, very informative ,wish you all the best and keep it up.

14:30. Dang man, show this to AOC. Tell her this is America!
Been shopping for diesel truck to pull 25-30 ft RV. This helped a lot to understand the difference. Thanks.
enjoying your videos on youtube,,,, BMW x5 e53 3.0d 2003 injectors 5.6 pouring diesel but when swap to any other cylinder it works fine,,, where could my problem be?
I own a 2005 diesel ram 2500 and have broken more studs with that vehicle then any other. The specs say to torch to 140 but they break at that spec, so I can only torq to 130. Are there any options for me?
In the nutshell which is good, petrol or diesel please help me choose which to buy. Thank you
Love his apprentice
Man now that's totally awesome :-)
Just curious what state your in because craftsman is all but dead here in Utah, there are no Sears stores left in Salt Lake, craftsman did however recently strike a deal with Lowe's to start carrying some of their tools, mostly power tools and toolboxes. And I just have to come straight out and say it since I have a very nice Home Depot Husky toolbox, they were the first ones to come out with soft close toolbox drawers and now a couple years later everyone seems to be trying to catch up and follow suit, I've noticed that craftsman and even Lowe's toolboxes now have soft close drawers, not saying that It's a bad thing, I'm glad that Husky came out with them and other companies followed suit because it helps keep my tools from sliding to the back of the drawer overtime as I repeatedly closed the drawers which I always hated with normal toolbox drawers lol! Also I hate to have to say it but I paid $1800 for a 52" wide bottom and top chest craftsman toolbox with 16" deep drawers and no frills as my first toolbox, later on I picked up a 56" wide bottom and top Husky toolbox with 20" deep soft close drawers, large bottom drawers that fit even my large power tools a full length middle drawer 6 caster wheels and a large hydraulic canopy with a power strip across the back with 6 outlets and 2 USB ports all things which my craftsman toolbox unfortunately lacked and it only cost me $1200. I don't want to sound like a hater but when I was growing up craftsman was supposed to be one of the best brands out there, not including power tools or tools bought off the tool trucks, but after a short time I began to find that a lot of their tools and their toolboxes were overrated. Again I'm not trying to be a hater and that is just my own personal opinion and your free to your own opinion. Sorry to stray off topic there.
does a 1995 Toyota hiace have a fuel pump inside its fuel tank? coz my van just died and tried to bleed it but theres no fuel or air coming out/?
It's used to help cool when doing active regeneration on the dpf
Motorz or motor-boating? I was preoccupied for the first few seconds of the video.
I have seen some buddies mix diesel with kerosene at a ratio of 60diesel/40kerosene, what do you think?
Keep up to great work on the videos
Thank you!
technically you are incorrect about diesel engines not having a throttle. some diesel engines do have a throttle, but it's not used to control the intake air or the revs like in a petrol. it's used to control intake vacuum under engine braking and for emission control.
not digging or nay saying, just thought I would add my 2 cents.
viperfrank don’t forget anti shudder on engine turn off....
you're mistaken sir, some diesel trucks have a throttle plate/body for the egr to work.
Here in Australia most 4X4's are turbo diesel.
Sean Zappulla 98% of diesels are turboed
My 3L toyota didnt come turbo.. but now its part of the turbo world 😆
Hey just question ... I am doing an apprenticeship diesel mechanic... but they have me changing tires ... why is that ??? I want to fix engines
I already been to a community college and got my 9 month certificate.. so why I changing tires??
is 10ppm diesel damaging to injectors? My 2015 duster just needed all 4 injectors replaced and nobody can tell me why? A Bosch technician said 10ppm has too much parrafin and not enough sulphur and actually destroys the injectors.....how true is this?
DIESEL FUEL... Its not just a fuel but a way of life ^,..,^
Give the 06 a fiberglass front clip that opens towards the front, like a Big-Rig
-pretty with no dings and flawless paint.
-less weight too.
Could you make a short video for women...showing the main tools they will need to service their diesel engine. I have a marine Yanmar 3ym30. I want to change the cooler stack have the manual but it doesn't say anything about what tools I will need. Thanks
KAREN MARCIANO Sure, let Brigitte explain everything in the video. I guarantee more guys would watch then women...lol
You still need a longer connecting rod to pair with the longer crank lobe - otherwise, a short con rod/long crank lob will crash engine parts.
The long crank gives the engine more "leverage" to turn the crank - IE like sitting further back on the end of the seesaw.
Love love love the show. Have it set to record every episode. I never miss one
Yes, that you do! I was just there last fall, and you guys have smaller utes and a lot more cool SUV's, like the Nissan Patrol, Toyota Lancruiser 70 and 200 series with the V8 diesels.
11:15 why do I keep seeing these holes in the side of the exhaust pipes on newer diesels? Is the goal of it to create a venturi, pulling air into the exhaust via the holes to dilute the soot? So its more volume of air, less thick black smoke?
newer diesels, (07+) from factory have a diesel particulate filter, this keeps the soot from getting out the tail pipe, when clogged it has to be burnt out by whats called a regeneration cycle, where fuel is added to the exhaust stream to create a burn. resulting in 1000+ degrees, the holes are there to pull the exhaust out more, and aid in cooling, especially during a regen.
A old diesel mechanic told me to put 1-2 gallons of gas in a diesel engine every 6 months and it actually helps the engine.
Very very wrong! It will cause premature wear in the fuel injection pump, and pre-ignition or detonation.
Seriously BAD IDEA!
great video. I love reading comments on these videos because it reminds me of why science and technology rules and not the opinions of fools.
I saw the first second of the video and had to like...
I didn't know this show excited Intel I found this video on CZcams.
This video explained a lot for me thanks.
I'm going to find the channel your on and dvr it. I thought it was a good show.
Hello when are there new episodes coming if i may ask, i love the show by the way ;)
This video needs to be updated to reflect the latest EPA regs which effectively end many diesel modifications and will have a huge impact on ALL off highway sports. Nascar, NHRA, Overlanding, Offroad racing etc...
LONG LIVE THE LEGENDARY OBS 7.3 POWERSTROKE
On short drives, it doesn't hurt the engine. Suggestions would be to change the oil more often because cold engines cause cylinder wall wetting from the fuel, which inherently gets pulled into the lube oil, diluting it.
Also, if you have a DPF, it will not give it a chance to regenerate, which may require a stationary regeneration or a trip to the dealership for a cleaning.
do you guys have plans to install that Chevy 350 v8 small block?
Guys help me about overhead of tlb cat 428c, I did change water pum, termostart radiator & radiator cap, also new headgaset, radiator fan are still good but still overheating, can someone please help me
whats the best way to get more performance out of a efi 305 chevy engine?
Heya there I'm is from Australia and I got a 1985 Nissan 720 SD25 diesel engine as I doing a full engine rebuild and can I do a port job on the head to get more flow and power without a turbo ?
It depends, I don't know enough about your engine to give you an exact answer. If the greatest airflow restriction is the cylinder heads then yes. However, if you have a restrictive exhaust, intake, or a small camshaft then you will not see a noticeable power increase. It won't matter how much the cylinder heads flow if the camshaft is too small to support it, and likewise for the intake and exhaust system. Do some additional research and see where the biggest restriction is.
Informative
I work on diesel trucks for a living and all the newer trucks have intake throttle body’s off the charge pipe? He said diesels do not?
Is it okay to mix straight diesel with biodiesel? My tank had about 3/4 of straight diesel in it when I decided to top it off with biodiesel not knowing there was a difference. Hopefully I didn’t mess anything up?! It’s an 05 Volkswagen.
If you want to want to send your injectors and fuel pumps to an early grave, go right ahead!
ths is a good show . thanks. and thanks bridget
But wait there's more🙌, I've worked on diesels forever, old Mercedes and CAT, Ford, Cummings, and more, the best thing to do is learn about all fuel injection systems and setting timing and valve lashing to perfection🙏👊, the tools sponsor 🔧🔥, and on injection pumps trap isolation, is were the start to dog out🐕😋 on older diesel, bit then again running any seafoam and or diesel booster fluids would help others out on the topic. 😎
Hey chris any more videos coming soon? How long for the next one
That's true for passenger car diesels, but for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, comparing a comparable small block Chevy that takes 4-6 quarts, the typical HD diesel will take 12-16 quarts.
3:59 eh what the hell
Wasn’t expecting the pleasant introduction.
So do they still get paid for those ads? Also some good info here think this is where imma send people who ash how diesel engines work!
Everything but how to get used diesel engine oil drip stains out of concrete. Anybody have a remover recipe?
He mentions modern computerized turbos. I believe VNT turbos are controlled with air pressure. What? Also check to see if you can run anti gelling additives because your catalytic converter? Diesels have DPF I am not familiar with a CAT on a diesel.
What would you like to know? DEF (aka Urea) is a 32.5% aqueous solution of ammonia (NH3) and water. It's injected upstream of the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) catalyst, and is used reduce oxides of nitrogen (NO, NO2...aka NOX) from the tailpipe by converting it to nitrogen (N2) and water.
Diesel :
-worked on coal's dust originally
-can have a throttle body for smooth shut down
-my diesel run 23 to 1 compression ratio (indirect injection) and can go low as 16 to 1 on actual direct injection.
Excellent summary, but not enough Bridgette!
3:54 “Welp, I got you guys so worked up over some possible pyrotechnics on this show, what the hell!” 😂😂
We are wrapping up the next episode right now! Our goal is to have a new episode out once per month. They take a lot of time to produce... thanks for hanging in there Joe!
The uleaded petrol/gasoline in the UK with that amout would be much more of a violet WOOF and probably shattered the beaker. We dont have ethenol in ours and it stats at 95RON (octane)
can you describe compression ignition
I like the way you said "new technologies, engineering and laws." i don't know, maybe i have a thing against laws. LOL.
Can turbo gasoline engines “runaway” just like how Diesel engines sometimes do? Thank you in advance
He is referring to the larger diesels trucks have, the one he used in the episode was 6.7L
Are shirt drives hard on diesel engines? I want a 2500 Cummins but I only drive 8 miles to work.
What about 2 stroke Detroit?
My buddy has 2012 ram 3500 and he straight piped it ha sounds good but he gave me the exhaust system to sell I saw that the cats are expensive where can I get rid of it at
craigslist/ebay
@0:26 or so"....but there's one very important topic that we completely missed out on..." .....yes sir, i agree. let's go back and thoroughly study that very important yet underappreciated topic.... @0:00-0:04 that will do. thanks.
Indeed
Damn bridget is fine, i really likeed all the info shared in the vid also
