  • This ordinary looking, kinda, Royal Enfield Interceptor has a secret. You do what to know it. Wahoo!

Love the name you've given it! Definitely sounds like a fire breathing dragon!

RE should offer an 865 interceptor and buyers would line up

DavoBatty RE should offer a "750", this bike is actually 863cc. Only Triumph can claim 865cc honestly due to the .2mm longer stroke.

@@DavoBatty true. This is a kit by S&S that uses Wiseco pistons...not a motorcycle manufacturer so it smacks in the face of ignorance. My "750" Interceptor is an S&S based kit with 83.5mm pistons, it is 743cc; not 750cc. The Triumph Trident was 741cc and nobody lied about it.

I wish that the factory did something similar but the massive Indian home market isn't as bothered as the UK and USA markets alone so I don't think we'll see it.
What's the torque curve like? 👍

The bike had phenomenal pool so I'm guessing the torque number is quite high. Would love to put this thing on a Dyno.

Well if you look at reviews about 650 twins and as an owner, besides power there are a few other major issues with the motorcycle that RE has to address. The stock suspension is worthless on Indian roads, the seat is horrid, the ergonomics arn't great, tyre options are limited, the headlights need an ungrade, the rectifier unit is faulty and there are plenty of cases of the 3rd and/or 4th gear cog breaking. Main gripe is the weight, the suspension, the electricals and last fix to address would be the power. And since so many have already done big bore kits in the US, UK, Australia ( there is even one being built in India for maybe a fraction of the cost of the S&S big bore kits) BUT nobody has really be able to fix the other issues I mentioned, effectively ( weight, the suspension, the electricals). Should seem simple but for some reason it isnt. The stock motorcycle weighs 210+ kgs. Aftermarket suspension kits like YSS are more track/tarmac focused - does not fix ride quality, the electricals - one has to figure out how to relocate the rectifier and/or replace it with a functioning one. I would be great if RE could address these issues first and then bump up power. 70+bhp with the current suspension/ brakes and the other issues mentioned, including ergonomics arn't gonna fix this product that seemed so promising.

It's got some serious speed for sure. We were talking about the weight. Need to get some scales here at the shop. They are customizing bike right now. Did yhe video 2 days ago and the bike looks totally different today. And it's only halfway through the process. Should be very interesting when complete

@forgottenmotorcycles Must be so cool to watch the transition of each individual bike. We understand the amount of time you spend there, and I myself am admirably envious of you.

Ed, as for weight the Interceptor can be trimmed down by 40 pounds; my 2020 RE Interceptor weighs 429 pounds. I put the bigger WiseCo 83.5mm pistons in mine over a year ago, it is 743cc and totally different from the wimpy 47hp stock bike.
