    Hi Bob and Jenny! Great video as always! So pleased to hear you say “that’s s a nice Hymer “ at 0.45 seconds on as you left Berwick! That’s our first motor home which we bought last year so we have been watching your videos since then as you give such helpful advice! I spotted Jenny as we were packing up to leave about 10 minutes after you guys! My husband Martyn didn’t believe me till we watched this video! He was chuffed by your appreciation of out lovely Hymer which we adore! Keep up the great work! X

    We love Grafham Water Club Site and have been a couple of times. I seem to remember last time we went Sue walked me and the dogs all the way round the reservoir (ten miles) and we found a pub at the half way point. Not sure that I could do that walk now. It's a long way from Berwick to Suffolk as I think you found the great north road seems to go on for ever. :) Trev

    Interesting, over here in Queensland service pitches are the norm on the larger sites. The ones with swimming pools etc., usually, there is a central point servicing 4 pitches with electricity water & a grey water drain. Caravans & motorhomes are fitted with a mains water connection. I've never seen an aqua roll, they are available. Frequently the setup is a gravel pad for the caravan, a concrete slab for the annex & a dirt/grass area for the tow vehicle. Cost about $50 out of school holidays. Showgrounds in country towns are great value often a powered site is $20 & they have amenity blocks. They are normally run by the local council & designed to get people staying over & spending a bit of cash in town. There are also quite a few free sites & deals like buying a meal in the pub gets you free camping. And our weather has been no better than yours this year.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  Před 2 lety

      That's interesting, some of our councils seem to actually want to turn motorhomes away!

      Yes, we're on a 'two peg' site now. Makes it easier to line up, just aim to get in between two pegs.

    Hi Bob and Jenny looking like your having a brilliant time sites up to now look fine.
    Just a question related to your trip to Black Horse farm club site ferry pitch.
    I am leaving from M62 Merseyside is it better going M6 toll then over Dartford bridge.
    What would you say the better route, be grateful for advice.
    Many thanks keep the videos coming 👍

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  Před 2 lety

      Both times we have been to Black Horse Farm our route has been M62/M6/M6 Toll/ A14 to the A1 for an overnight stop at Ashwell. The next day we went A1/M25/Dartford Crossing to M20 and then Black Horse Farm.

    Bob. Just wondering why you don't use a mains fed water connection. Instead of water barrel.
    When I had my caravan on seasonal pitch up till last Yr. I had mains feed for approx 6yrs.
    So much easier. No cleaning of barrel ever. I just used to turn off when going home.
    You also don't need to switch van pump on. Not as much pressure. But useful at night if partner in bed. Say filling kettle in morning for a cuppa. No pump noise.
    On arrival I always ran water for 20 mins or so

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  Před 2 lety +1

      Motorhomes have a fresh water tank unlike caravans and have to use a pump to pump water to the taps. Using the system I was using, I can fill the fresh water tank without going outside or moving an Aquaroll or a Motorhome

    Hi guys love your content, what I am curious about are your diesel prices you quoted,, those prices are per gallon, if so you are very lucky, our diesel prices are around $A2.00 per litre which would make it about $A8.80 a gallon. All the best from Melbourne Australia

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  Před 2 lety

      Fuel prices here are in litres, so £1.80 a litre or £8.18 a gallon, or $A14.56.

    Why does a modern Motorhome need an aqua roll and in some cases a grey water roll or a serviced pitch?
    It is not just extra faff and equipment to carry?
    What is the capacity of the few tank and grey water tank?
    Can it last a day or two?
    I’m aware, from looking at other vans in caravan parks, that some MH owners still have to do the “caravaners rail pilgrimage” with their aqua roll to the water point, another roll to grey water point then emptying the toilet cassette … whilst I’m sitting with my feet up, enjoying my breakfast and catching up on my favourite CZcams channels!
    To me that more like “motorised caravanning” than a modern Motorhome experience as usually they are able to last 3-4 days on site or wild camping with out taking on water or disposing of grey water until reaching a disposal point.
    Finally, how does the Ford chassis, engine and gearbox compare with the Fiat you are more used to?
    Safe journeys, keep clogging!

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  Před 2 lety +1

      We've been using the shower in the motorhome each morning and we're not moving the motorhome, so it's less Faff to use an Aquaroll than keep packing up and moving the motorhome.

    I don't think the Grafham site in Sussex would be a good idea, it's covered with trees & I think Poppy would take umbrage with that 😁.
    Glad Tara is now ok, Tick's are nasty & can spread Lyme's disease, but I think they have to be attached for quite a long time.
