| Nanjing, China, July 7, 2019 - USA rallied from two sets down to win 3-2 over Brazil and complete their title defence campaign in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
USA coach Karch Kiraly: “I am most proud of how hard my players played since the very first match in Ruse, Bulgaria, down to the match tonight when we were down 2-0. It would be easy to give up hope but they did not. We didn’t play with the same players for each week and we had a whole group of 22-23 players and they all made great contributions. So we are grateful and happy about all these contributions.”
USA captain Jordan Larson: “We are definitely excited. We played an exciting match and we had a great finish. It’s been a long tournament and it wasn’t easy for us. Brazil is a great team and they deserve all the respect. We came out strong in sets one and two but we just couldn’t keep it together, then we came out better in the third and fourth, and it was very nice to win the match.”
USA player Annie Drews: “I am very proud of us. We made a lot of nice changes throughout the match and we’re able to pull out a win. Winning MVP, I’m so thankful to be part of this team and this tournament. I am so excited in continuing to learn and I want to do a lot of good things for this team.”

Carlini is Team USA's MVP. With her setting, they are unbeatable.
Videos I was never a huge Carlini fan even back to when she was at Wisconsin but after watching her performance in the VNL she has completely won me over. Agreed, definitely unbeatable with her setting

The depth of setters is crazy ALL so excellent ..,just depends on the day but yeah Carlini is also my personal fav! I hate that she's being so mis-managed in her current league team dinamo moscow hope she finds a better home.

Brazil isn't the best and neither is the USA ,in fact Brazil in the fourth in the world ranking,this was a regular championship ,the 2018 world championship was what the great teams in the world was aiming to conquer,and Serbia,the first in the world ranking has won It,USA beat by the Netherlands ,Let's see what will happen in 2020 when the most powerful teams will be playing to be the great champion in Tokyo and I'm sure Brazil will be one of them,don't forget you Americans that was expecting team USA to be the great champion but I guess you will be defeated by a non unbeatable team as you think you are unbeatable but always fails to win gold.
Brasil tiene un excelente equipo, me sorprende como Tainara y Lorenne hayan crecido y han sido líderes pero las Américas aunque no lo creas , está en una nueva generación de jugadoras nuevas y es algo sorprendente , hacía falta Natalia pero ya tiene 30 años aprox , es preferible ver jugadoras jóvenes recuerda que las americanas estudian perfecto al rival y Brasil no pudo superar a las americanas , veremos cómo le va en las Olimpiadas 2020

Why are none of the NCAA champs from Stanford playing for the USA?
bc Karch doesn't believe they have Olympic potential. I think I read somewhere that he wants them to do more smaller US National team stuff before (i.e Pan American Cup/Pan American Games). I think it has to do with the fact that Karch believes that they just had a good year and that there weren't any teams really out there enough to beat them. If you really look at it, the only decent one who may have a potential is Plummer. There isn't anything special about Jenna Gray or Morgan Hentz really. Sure Hentz can dig but that's at the collegiate level. Like you already see Foecke is pretty inconsistent in the VNL, with her weird roll shot/swing she constantly does yet at the collegiate level she was a monster. I just feel like Plummer is only good because there hasn't been anyone to step up and stop her. You get what I'm saying?
David C Im looking forward to see Plummer in the senior national team. She’s the only player in the fivb history to win medals both indoor (silver u18) and outdoor (gold) in the same year. I mean stanford was silent after logan tom and Akinradewo so i am expecting to see her play. But then again most of these fresh from college players will mature and be ready to represent usa after a successful club stint. The perfect example is Hill. She wasn’t a collegiate star before but she gave USA its first gold for a quadrennial tournament and she had good club season!
@@aramiszabat5542 That makes sense but remember that its U18 when she won those medals so it may have been a good year for her - which is what I feel like Karch thinks this season for Stanford - was a good season. Personally, I don't know how Plummer would do on the national team since I feel as if on Stanford she is too reliant on and in International play they will shut that down and exploit that which is a reason I feel like Karch is holding off on that. I want to see Plummer go International and play with the big players like Thaisa from Brazil, Zhu Ting from China, Sloetjes from Netherlands, Gunes from Turkey and basically the whole Serbian and Italian national team. I just haven't seen anything WOW factor about her rather than the fact that she had a good season with Stanford. You know?
David C give her time. She’s 20 and still in college (you know they can’t compete due to school commitments hence the lack of international exposure) so yeah another 1-2 years and we’ll see if she’ll make to the senior national team. Thaisa or Sloetjes are prolly retired by that time. And we’ll hope that Karch will make the right decision.
